Are you surprised? When Vinny says 5 times, it's NEVER 5 times. *Everyone* knows that.
I have a theory for what went wrong here:
1) The game originally used motion controls; given the limitations of motion controls the game was a *lot* less sensitive.
2) Taking out the motion controls made the game feel sluggish and unresponsive.
3) "I know," said a programmer, "let's adjust the sensitivity - it looks like they tacked on a variable for reducing it, so let's just take that out."
4) The game is now nightmarishly twitchy and causes motion sickness. This also looks might be why the camera sensitivity slider does nothing.
5) Meanwhile, in another branch of development, the on-rails sections (like the chicane section that makes up at least half this video) designed to work with the motion controls was replaced with a flat chicane that was still easy to navigate with the 'soft' controls.
6) SEGA, ever in a hurry, mashed the two branches together with minimal playtesting (if any) and shipped it before anyone had a chance to fix the horrible mistakes that were made in 1-5.
That sounds reasonably close, yeah.
The controls are probably the same tbh. The reason its so sensitive is to make the motion controls feel like they actually do something so translating that to a controller feels way over the top and touchy.

That also makes sense - the thing about motion controls is that they're either in one of the two extremes, and you can usually tell which extreme by in-game behavior.
Monkey Ball is the kind of game where sudden loss of responsiveness (what would happen if it had been 'padded as I described) wouldn't be a problem, because the game has to already be getting input from the motion controller for the character to move.
This video is an excellent example of why the game would not want to create a situation where the controls are twitchy and overly sensitive. Then again, this assumes SEGA knew what they were doing at some point... So...
To be fair that level is much easier than it looked to be. Vinny just decided to speedrun that level in particular.
yo i used to speedrun this. you're mostly right but the main issues are with input detection and collision detection... this is easily one of the shoddiest ports of anything i've ever played

SEGA thought it would be a better idea to put PSO2 on the Microsoft Store than on Steam for its North American release. Most people use the tweaker instead of the M$ store because the game will launch once and never again when downloaded from Microsoft.
We're at a point where Sega's fans can make better games than they can. Are you surprised?

I just hope they don't one day touch Burning Rangers or Sega Rally with the same callous hands they crafted this game with.

And frankly, outside of that and Sonic, I do wait for a new SEGA Rally since other games seems to be good (Yakuza, Alien Isolation etc.) There's a new ChuChu Rocket game as well, but that's an Apple Arcade exclusive.
I like that Vinny straight-up called the Terry direct not announcing a 5th character and being Sakurai geeking over SNK history.

Vinny's reasoning at 6:25 for liking the series and wanting it to be good is the same thing that Sonic fans get constantly mocked for, right down to the reasonable complaint that SEGA has a bad history with ports, usually in one of two categories: A bad port of a good game, or porting an entry in a series that sold well but no one in the core audience liked.
this aged well with the recent sonic port.
Sega is so incompetent yet, honestly, not a surprise. God forbid we get a GOOD port/remake of a game that really deserves it.

I've recently learnt that in the Wii version, you could control the camera with the Nunchuck's analog stick.
Well that just tells me that they updated the graphics and slapped the mechanics together.

Vinny's accent is more obvious in his earlier videos. Listen to the one where he talks about his hatred of geese. It's on full display.
Vinny pulling up the old Level from the wii version is like when I was using a walkthrough for Ocarina of time and the guide told me I had to find the gold spiders and get the bigger wallet to buy the fish to advance and after doing that realized I could just use the bottle in the water to catch a fish and didn't need to spend hours finding all of those spiders.
Finding the spiders is the most fun part

And I IMMEDIATELY could hear Vinny scream in the distance.
That's not what happened though. He was stuck at the level for some time too, and was also awestruck when he realized there's even more CBT after the initial CBT. His comment of "way too easy mission" was for a different level, where you just hold forward and jump. Compared to what had to be endured previously, that level was way too easy.

This was my first monkey ball game i bought it for the Wii at toysrus for about 20$ only to find my local game store had it for 15. one of the few games I had at the time though.I really liked it but I remember I could never beat the final world and that it was practically broken. But I have a lot of memories playing the mini games mainly the ball and chain one,monkey glide and the Mario kart clone,and fps one but trying the frsit one I realized the physics were way better but I ended up missing the jump lol
please please please play the original monkey balls instead, way better
Banana blitz has some really wacky physics and i think its a part of how the animations don't make gauging them easy. Also world 10 stage 5 literally had a platform near the end that had no collision in the NTSC-U version. It's a fun game once you're used to it though.
Yeah the special worlds were litterally broken. They straight up forgot to program collision in one of the platforms

And if you reaaally wanna talk about dificulty then try to complete Dead Space (1 or 2) on impossible without deaths (or only with 3 saves total) or if you insane like me, complete Kingdom Come: Deliverance without deaths on hardcore (and don't fight on a horse or with a bow).
Fun fact , that is a myth and Einstein never said that. :3 ( also it's really bad misinformation as it discourages people from practicing things they might otherwise want to improve at )
