We come here because you’re so dang cute, funny, and a joy to watch! I often watch your videos if I need to feel better. Keep having fun and posting these videos!
Dennis and Tommy had two distinct types of songs and both were great. Eventually there different styles caused the band to separate.
My favorite of Dennis is Lady
And Tommy's is Renegade.
Let's not forget James Young's vocal contributions - Miss America, Half Penny etc.
I like "Too Much Time On My Hands".
What everybody has said here. Hey Brit, if you liked this song this is one you needed to watch live.
And as someone may have mentioned you also want Too Much Time On My Hands , also preferably live. But the studio version is good too.
@@Banks1769love that one
My next Styx recommendation is “Renegade”
The Grand Illusion is a great album with some of the best album cover art.
"What instrument is that?" Keys/synthesizer.
Fun fact: Styx had more than one lead singer, but the guy singing lead in this song is Dennis DeYoung. He has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1970. There are two big Styx hits that DeYoung wrote for his wife Suzanne. Lady (one of Styx earliest hits, circa 1973... I love that song... very haunting and builds from quiet to kick-a$$ by the end.... and Babe from 1979, which De Young wrote as a birthday present for Suzanne. He performed it for her with some of his band mates. It wasn't meant to be for public consumption, but his band mates and/or record execs rightly guessed that it would be a big hit, and the song was included on Styx' next album and it was a huge hit, making it all the way to #1 in the US and Canada. You ought to react to both of these songs (Lady and Babe).
Yah and Babe wound up being their only #1 hit.
Yes! Mr. Roboto, next... also Babe and Lady...love Styx and Dennis DeYoung
Check out the Styx song "Lady" Dennis wrote it for his wife, back in the early 70s, they were married in 1970 and still are today, 54 years.
Dennis DeYoung is an incredible talent. His live performances even in his 70's are impressive.
Britt rocks! Hope you like this one! Great tune! Do REO Speedwagon next 😉
Also don’t forget Styx “The Best of Times”
REO! " Keep Pushin' " is one of my motivational songs. o
REO! Roll With The Changes just hits me the right way.
This song is from 1977. Wikipedia-Lyrically, the song uses sailing as a metaphor to achieve one's dreams. The lyrics touch on nostalgia of "childhood friends," escapism, and a religious thematic symbolized by "a gathering of angels" singing "a song of hope." The ending lyrics explain a transition from a sailing ship into a starship, by narrating that "they climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies".
Styx is a very theatrical band and will take ypu on a journey - worth the dive!
My God-Sister and I were both singers. We loved Styx and we would ride around in my 1976 Datsun 610 Hatchback singing to Styx songs. We would love singing in harmony. We both were in high school and we’d find every excuse we could to get in my car and drive. Styx songs were beautiful and loved harmonizing to their songs.
1976 Datsun! Now you are going way back,lol... Great music, great memories!
@@maryannturton9830 Right? I’ll be 59-years-old in October. I can’t believe I’m almost 60-years-old. I’m being told a lot that I don’t look my age. I’m taking people’s word that it’s true.
It's funny you mentioned ballet, as they have a song called Clair de Lune/Ballerina on their Crystal Ball album and also when you mentioned robots, they literally have a song called Mr. Roboto that they did in the 80s.
This song has always struck me as the quintessential 70s song. It's very catchy and radio friendly, it's wistful yet optimistic, it has that sort of fusion of pop and classical (which was common in the 70s), it has a beautiful synth section, and it rocks!
They are amazing. The live version of this is so fire 🔥.
💯🎯 yep. 👍🏻
Nailed it with the ET Phone Home
Dennis has a beautiful voice. He can still sing today.❤
In 1978 I bought my first car, a 68 Camaro, no AC, put a nice new stereo in it and bought this cassette and drove all in the country with the windows down singing all these songs!! So you’re right, it did happen….At least to me and I loved it!!!
I have listened to you for about 8 songs. I absolutely am in love with your facial expressions. This song was/is great. Keep it going Britt.
5:11 Britt has a BEAUTIFUL voice!!! 🥹
Gotta do Styx “Mr Roboto” now !!!
Right, she’s talking about a robot, so that should be one to do soon.
@@jhood758 She was even moving like a robot, so yeah, Mr. Roboto will be right up her alley.
No, don't do Mr Roboto. It's horrible. Only DeYoung wanted to do it. And rest of band resented how he wanted to push them into this new horrible music, thus forming the basis of their breakup. Shaw literally said this in an interview.
@@dab_family9405 Agree. Mr. Roboto sucks.
@@dab_family9405 What if I told you it was possible for her to listen, formulate her own opinion and regardless of what she believes, it would not have to change your opinion of it? That'd be pretty cool, right?
Can’t go wrong with Styx. Crystal Ball, Queen of Spades, Sing for the day ,Snowblind and Man in the wilderness are a few I love.
Love crystal ball and boat on the river
"Crystal Ball" and "Man in the Wilderness" are two of my favorites. And what's cool about "Snowblind" is that we get to hear what an amazing voice JY (James Young) has.
Man In The Wilderness!
Loved this when I was in the Submarine service from ‘78 to ‘91.
There are *so* many great songs in this band's discography.
Don't ever change, you are an original treasure. Very entertaining. Thank you. Stay well and enjoy life.
Styx!! 💜 Lady, Babe and Grand Illusion. Renegade, etc. etc. Love Come Sail Away. ( You are so funny, you said: I "know" what I'm talking about. Haha. ) ✅
Oh I had to pull up a chair and watch you take this epic journey. 🤣
Like I said in the last Post about 1977 songs Lady driving around with friends and singing this all together, Actually met with a guy I graduated with today and haven’t seen him since school we shook hands and with tears in our eyes we laughed about how great the 70’s were and how old we look today 😂
I like your choices in music, thanks for the memories, besides you make me smile. Great reaction 😊😊😊
Styx
Sweet Madame Blue
Crystal Ball
Renegade
I love listening to Styx. I remember being in bootcamp 1983 one of the guys playing them constantly.
And I heard the angels say above my head come sail away come sail away come sail away lad.
You get it, Brit, you GET IT!
When I was a teenager up into my 20's my hobby was concerts. I saw Styx more than any other band. I really can't tell you how many times I went to their concerts I didn't count, but I have driven over 100 miles to go and see them. Of all the concerts I went to, and I tried to see every rock and roll band at the time (70's 80's) I would say that I enjoyed their concerts and albums more than almost anyone else. Miss those days.
Ah! The days of synthesizer music! LOL. We definitely went nuts over those in the 80's. Created some fun, catchy, fantastic music.
Dennis DeYoung has such a marvelous voice. He had a solo hit Desert Moon which I think you will enjoy!
Saw Styx live and they are amazing. Very talented group
This reaction made me so happy and this song always makes me think of South Park
Another great styx song is lady. Great reaction to a great band Britt.
I love your road trip description moment. That's great. And for me it happened in the late seventies on multiple occasions but for one for example, this would have been the mid-to-late seventies and we were blasting Fox on the Run by Sweet.
I saw them on their Pieces of Eight tour in 79. The Cars opened on their first album tour. It's still in my top five shows 45 years later.
If you want to find one of the best Styx songs, let alone best songs of Rock n Roll history..., you really need to hear Renegade! FANTASTIC!
70's and 80's the era of synths galore...Moog synths, taurus bass pedals, mellotron, fender rhods,Oberheim,Korg,Roland,Phrophet...and the many other dozens upon dozens of models.Brands went full on overflowing with creating synth after synth after synth models in that time frame. There are some really cool YT channels now dedicated to all things classic synthesizers. They only showcase classic vintage synths, video clips of sound bits, and demonstrations using all those famous classic models.
I'd love for you to react to the Styx songs "Renegade", "Too Much Time on My Hands", and "Boat on the River"!
Classic tune. Great lyrics, music and instrumentation. Saw this in concert in the 1970s. Awesome.
With all respect, I subscribed because your adorable way to react and appreciation for music of my time.
Styx is a really cool band!
Awesome share Britt , Agree crank this tune cruising down the highway with the T- Tops off in my camaro , trying not to get a speeding ticket lol cheers .
Kansas , Carry on wayward son. Epic sound, consistent w this song
At the end of the day, when it's all said and done, NOBODY can say you don't know what you're talking about.😉
Dennis is a synthesizer god.
Briit! Shocked you didn't do this live--they do a great live version of this...I know you love your live!
Saw sticks 4 times. Texas jams Dallas cotton bowl and my home town. Tx.
The 70s was the greatest era of music. I can barely even listen to the radio today I watch you because you’re 70s stuff.
Hey Britt, I love your reaction to "FIRST TIME REACTING TO "Come Sail Away" by Styx!! but, that aside, I just wanted to say, my oh my, you are theee most beautiful woman!!! You're not caked up with tons of make-up, and/or eye shadow/eye liner, you're just a Gorgeous, Beautiful Lady,,,,, just wanted to let you know that! and also, I'm a fan, I watch your videos regularly!! Keep the videos comin' because I love all of them!! CHEERS!!
Really really enjoyed your reaction!
Great Reaction ! :) Song takes me back to listening to my older sisters record collection and falling in love with music. Music was my first drug.
Loved the reaction, thank you! May I suggest "Crystal Ball", "Castle Walls", or "Boat on a River".
The sound was created with a moog synthesizer
They are great live
This is during the time when Synthesizers were very popular in music, so a lot of the sounds you are hearing that you are questioning "what instrument" is actually a Synthesizer which is basically just and electronic sound maker.
They did have a huge hit called Mr Roboto all their stuff is good late 70s early 80s hits.
Great song,Luv your krazy eyes
That is class song
This song is not from the eighties but the seventies, 1977. I loved Genesis, Mike Oldfield, Yes and Pink Floyd and then discovered in 1977/1978 Styx and Kansas from the other side of the Atlantic.
It's all synthesizer, Baby!
It was fun to watch you take this ride!
Have to hear Renegade, read those lyrics while they sing.
Eric Cartman did a great cover of this.
some say the best cover of any song ever.
Styx and Boston and ELO and others back in late 70"s this was all cutting edge used custom built sometimes 1 of a kind keyboards since all previous were mono tone or single voice keyboards no-one could even duplicate the sounds for almost 5 years and they were very expensive ! !!!
STYX.., the greateat rockband of all time!..Sandler thought so!
Yes a good song.
Check out their song Mr Roboto
Tommy Shaw came to my senior day at my highschool. He graduated from there
Omg you crack me up with laughter. Luv you! Love Styx.
Britt another of our teen years memory down the lane??😁
Save the robot dance for their song MR. ROBOTO, which you also need to check out! 🤖
I would love to hear you react to “Show me the way” by Styx. Great Lyrics
We come cause your amazing girl oh by the way your gorgeous to. Save america and the children god bless
Tears every time I hear this one.... Reminds me of my best friend who loved Styx, this song and life. He left this rock way too early. Will see you soon enough my brother.
Let's hear it for studio versions!
There is a very cool version of this by Puddles Pity Party. He does it as a mashup with Let It Go from Frozen. His voice is so powerful.
this is another one of those songs that if you are in the car and you get where you are going, you cannot get out of the car till at least the breakdown.. you have to stay in the car and keep listening.
Love that you are doing 70's music. 4 major elements to 70's
1- Musicianship
2- Extreme Dynamics and transitions
3- Thoughtful Lyrics
4- All analog No digital Sounds
This is the long version, not the radio version !!! I love this song and also the song Lady !!!
Check out their concert at blossom with cyo. You'll love it
I was gonna joke about your doing the robot (because you should check out their song Mr. Roboto), but...that having been said, your singing along toward the end was lovely! This is among the songs I would love to karaoke if and when I get the chance, but that's less often than I'd like. I should remedy that.
Such a fun song! We used to crank the radio when this one came on, LOL! Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
Perfect timing. Just saw Styx in Vegas. GREAT show! GREAT venue! They're playing again next weekend if you get a chance. Tommy Shaw still sounds fantastic.
It's so bombastic & beautiful.
You're just good girl! I grew up with this song and it still gives me goosebumps. Seeing them live, still doint it today, is a joy. Cheers!
You were all over it figuring out the aliens were coming in toward the end. Took me till it was thrown in my face to get it way back when when the song originally came out. Yes, I'm old as dirt. ;)
Yep Britt. This song always got me (and still does) at the top of my lungs when driving in my car. 🫨
I would suggest checking out Rockin the Paradise and the Best of Times. Two majorly awesome songs by them.
✌️Peace✌️
You did a great 'Robot'.
Cheers !
They actually did a song, “Mr. Roboto”.
Yes Briftt you are truly a space cadet, 70s term, and keep em comin. Another good time at the party. Oh, Minnie Riperton,Lovin you, will blow your mind. 73 I believe. ✌️
I come here because you "act a fool"🤣🤣🤣🤣 love your reactions
I always thought more of this song as a celebration of life song.
Love to see the crazy channel growth! Seems like just a week ago you only had 10k subs^^
One of the best voices in rock. This song was my high school class song.
