Hot tip for flatty wounds. Rub the belly of the flatty on your cut. Something in the slime helps stop the bleeding and lessens the pain. Their spines have an anticoagulant.

Hey Brodie, love the videos!! With the Flathead spikes, the flathead have a natural anti-venom on the under-side of there belly. When ever you get spiked rub some of the slime from there under belly on the wound and the pain and swelling will near immediately go away and no reaction. As a kid I used to fish with my dad for them always, and he taught me that. We would always get spiked every trip and did that every time and was always affective. :)

Does the same for cat fish. Had a barb go through the bit of hand between the thumb and index. Rubbed its belly and all pain went away

My dad lives in Kentucky and I got him into watching you brodie my dad is the best fisherman I know he taught me everything but only in fresh water lakes I didn't get the chance to go ocean fishing with him yet. Hey Brodie, if you didn’t know a old fisherman told me that if you get stung by a flattie you can rub some of the slime on the underside of the fish to help neutralise the venom,
Something to do with them stinging each other during mating.

Another awesome video boys (and Stryda) 😘. Super jealous of how easy you make it look to fish over there. I've been hit by a flatty spike a few times and they hurt for days but hubby dropped a large bream from about chest height straight onto the top of my bare foot and it hit spike first, that hurt for 2 and a bit weeks.
