Yes, this video is a bit faster than it should be. As for the song, Nemo"....it's actually a very sad song. The word "Nemo" in Latin means, "A Nobody". If you read the lyrics with that understanding, you will see that it really is very sad.

One of their best. But for the best experience of that story, Nina must know who and what it is about. If you're going to watch a man commit "suicide by song" you must put in some effort to figure out why. A Tarja song like The Phantom of the Opera (which by the way is Marko's wildest vocal performance) or Walking in the Air are awesome. And then read a bit on the traumatic events leading to this song.

I ABSOLUTELY love when you play along. I've heard the song hundreds of times, but you bring to the table a wonderful ability to recognize the chord patterns and instantly join in. You're one of few I've seen who can do this, and when you do, you emphasize parts that are very cool to hear enhanced. Pinkpop was special because of Floor doing a solo performance then a Nightwish performance on the same day , Nightwish then did Hellfest in France and Deichbrand in Germany which were truly incredible . Floor just gets better and better !!!! Her recent solo singles (three so far ) show her astonishing versatility but luckily her natural environment is with her boys in NIghtwish and she will never leave her besties . Look at her face as she interacts with everything and everybody truly Goddesslike .

Wacken 2013 is the bench mark for all Nightwish songs played from that era. The sound is out of this world. You really need to listen to Storytime from Wacken. It’s that good. Love your live analysis. Very special indeed 💥💥🎶💥💥💥
Yep. 1) the venue; 2) the video quality; 3) the audio quality; 4) Marko is singing with Floor😢; 5) Jukka on drums; 6) Floor’s voice is impeccable. 2013 Wacken was a seminal performance for Nightwish. I always say that if a NW song was performed at 2013 Wacken, it is the one you should see/hear.
Please, Nina, consider reacting to TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (official video) It is a song from Nightwish's songwriter/keyboardist's 2014 solo project "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", a graphic novel by Don Rosa. Tuomas wrote a soundtrack for it. It was recorded in London with an orhestra. Vocals by Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela. Different from Nightwish songs but as good, beautiful. For backround info: Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova, parts 1&2, only 5 minutes altogether. Very interesting and funny story about how they met each other, and how the album finally materialized. It took ONLY 15 years from Tuomas' original idea.

I venture the NW army, as me, loves to listen when a reactor is joyful in responding to “our” MOST wonderful band! You know Floor did her first solo concert at Pinkpop, & a few hours later did the NW one you are watching. What a woman! You might want to check out her in that one in well. One thing I really enjoyed in this concert was the stage set up that had a platform into the audience. Try to catch a song where she is traveling, she is so great with audiences. Right now I am really into Hellfest that was in July 2022. So pleased The first two songs are newer you haven’t heard yet, Noise & Tribal. Please do those two together! If you like "Storytime," you really should listen to the Wacken version of it. The mix was for a live DVD, so it sounds a good deal better than this. You could also check out some of their performances from Wembley, Tampere, or Buenos Aires. They all sound amazing too. If you are going to react to more "recent" material, I'd suggest seeking out some newer compositions. "Noise," "Pan," and "Tribal" from the latest album are all great -- though I'm not sure how many good live versions you'll be able to find. The music video for "Noise" is great though. I'd also love to see you react to some of Floor's solo stuff.

Also a Re-Upload: Dear Nina, As a fellow Dutch(guy) a few years older than Floor, I like to give you a kind of introduction to the special match. Floor & Nightwish found each other in a special and very specific time, in there journeys. A great amount of happy coincidences, conspired to come together and made this a very special match.. Floor 1.01: She had a very average childhood, all be it. Coming from a bit above average, effluent background. School, especially highschool was a bit 'akward' for her. From about age 10 she almost always was 'the tallest', not only of the girls, but of all her peers. Going to normal Dutch schools, and following her father during some moves across the South of The Netherlands. They moved a few times following the change of workplaces of her father. One must know that among her peers, specially in the time period that she attended highschool. House music was paramount during that time period, think 'Two Unlimited' and somesuch. Her peers of the time in school, were pretty two-dimensional. One was peer pressured to be all 'normal', standard think a bit Girly-girls for the girls. If one did not follow that mold, you were most definitely labeled: Alternative. All in all not the most happy time, her years in highschool. She loved music, but other music than mainstream. Learned guitar from her father(at age 13), joint her first band(aged 16) the band later renamed itself as After Forever. After completing her O-levels, this aspiring Biologist decided to make Music her main occupation in Life. She was part of the Grounding Class at the Tilburg, Rock Academy. An initiative to establish a (new kind of) music college/university. A school, to study music, but also not ignoring the need to school this new breed of musical professionals in the Business side of the Music Business. She continued her studies of music on a more mainstream music college(conservatorium), to study Opera and Contemporary music/ Musical theatre. Long after finishing the Rock Academy in 2003. She did teach also in the field, even some classes at her Alma Mater in Tilburg. From 2009-2010, till just before joining Nightwish she was (forced to) take a big hiatus from Music, due to Burn-out symptoms. In fact Floor stated in interviews that Nightwish should not have called, even 5 weeks earlier than they did. Floor thinks that even five weeks earlier. She would not have been ready mentally to embark on her new life-adventure: Singing for, and later joining Nightwish. The Wacken.2013 DVD is part of this first world tour. If you have 2,5 hours to spare, you can look on UA-cam for the documentary called; 'Please learn the Setlist in 48-hours.' She knew the band and there songs, but not the 15 songs of the new album, Imaginaerum. The song 'Ghost Love Score', is one of the first songs she contributed to writing/arranging music. During rehearsals/sound-checks she decided one day, to sing here variations on this mainly Tuomas and Taria song. The rest of the band liked her version of the vocals so much, they kept them her way till the present day. In oktober 2013 she became a full member of the band Nightwish, at the same time as Troy Donockley. So beginníng with 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful (album)' and Élan she and Troy were also contributing to writing of Nightwish music. With Tuomas (still) being the main composer, writer of music and arrangements. Outside, alongside Nightwish she was part of Nordward and Ayreon. Starting 2019 she persued more solo projects, alongside her Nighwish work. 'Beste Zangers' gave this a big boost and the prolonged rest of Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021 was used by Floor to compose(herself) some new, solo works like Fire, etc. Never met, or collaborated with each other. They lost/send away Taria in the last part of 2005, and it almost broke the band. Other musicians joined, as other band members quit, or were no longer able to be part of Nightwish. Marco and Taria performed a RE-arranged rendition of Phanton of the Opera. And this Tuomas Arrangement of this song became the basis of Beste Zangers 'Phantom', with Floor and Henk Poort. Henk performed (200+ times) as The Phantom in the A. Lloyd-Weber musical in The Netherlands. Henk is also very well known, for his work on stage as head-liner in the musical 'Les Miserables'. Anette was a more pop-music oriented singer that joined Nightwish around 2008, and she was physically unable to continue the 2012 world tour, touring the leg in the USA. That ultimately led to the recasting of the Main singer, to Floor Jansen. Also to know is: Tuomas had a hard time, many years after the split between Nightwish and Taria. It more than 'just a little', unsettled his Mental and Emotional Equilibrium. He was forced, in the end to write this out of his system, resulting in the Song: The Poet and the Pendulum. If you ever wish to make a reaction video, on this song. Please prepare by researching the history behind this song, before(!) starting to record a reaction video on this song.. Also the London O2 version of 'Greatest Story on Earth' is very cool because of the live 'reading' of the texts by Prof. Richard Dawkins, himself.. Although the Tempere 2015 is even more beautifully done, with the Pyro, And Dawkins is also still in it, But wait till even the last of titles-roll is finished, otherwise You will mis Dr. Dawkins final, most powerful remarks... Nighwish's Tuomas uses a lot of recordings along the live-played music onstage. Most of these recordings come from collaborations in London, England. The London Philharmonic and several London based Singers and Choirs come to mind. Now exact then ten years later Floor and here 'Brothers' of the Band Nightwish still conquer the world one live-concert at a time.. As down to earth as to be expected from a Metalhead(!!), Soprano from Holland, just hanging with her Brothers in Arms. Still free of any Diva-like tendencies that almost wiped-out this band in 2006.. Great job as usual. PinkPop was in The Netherlands earlier in the day. The official live version of Storytime is from Wacken 2013, and is probably the ultimate version. Floor exceeded perfection. Originally written when Anette was the lead singer, the operatic section was only pre-recorded choir vocals. Floor wanted to take it on. If you want to check out recent performances, even later than this, there are quality videos from Hellfest in France, around dusk, and Diechbrand in Germany at night, with full pyro and light show. Emppu’s solos often leave you wanting more. I hope this means all your electronics survived the lightning strike. 🤞🏻

Hello Nina. Yeah I was there. It was bloody hot. The day started very good because Floor had a solo appearance in the morning hours. Of course together with Henk Poort. Then 2 hours later she was on stage with Nightwish and blew us pretty much away... Unbelievable what she did there...
Pretty much same page with you on that I wish Floor's vocals were louder in the mix. Also in Wacken 2013 she had no harmonies on background yet since she had been with them only 10months and all of it on road. In Tampere 2015 she gives again little different Storytime, so I say check those out if you want to see the progression of this song. Also Tampere concert setlist is amazing, so if you wish to see Marco with the band still, that's probably one of the best concerts to see him. And maybe it had to do with it being Nightwish's home audience that brought them together even higher level than usually. Who knows, I might be buyest.
Tampere is my favorite. I love the setlist. And I think the sound is the best of any of the shows. This is definitely not a super polished mix like Wacken, Tampere, Buenos Aires, or Wembley. Those had a lot more effort put into them. This is basically just capturing what they sounded like at the show. You can tell those other shows had a lot of post-production.
All "Beste Zangers" solo performances in 2019 are clasic and popy. And brilliant❤. If you want to see young Floor you should listen to her bands before Nightwish. That''s a special and wonderfull journey to watch. Revamp 2010 at Graspop (song Disdain) After forever 2007 live at Progpower ( song Dreamflight) 2003 live at Pinkpop ( song Pledge of Allegiance) 2001 live Monolith of doubt.
My favorite song by Nightwish is "Storytime".... followed closely by " Elan," "Ever Dream," "Endless Forms Most Beautiful," "Song of Myself" then, their tribute to Pink Floyd, singing " High Hopes" ( if you want to hear Marko singing lead vocals, and Emppu showing off his guitar skills....it's a must listen! ) Love your channel!!! You have a very charismatic personality and a magnificent smile!!! Consider the compliments as if they are from a grandfather...as I am 65 and still love the music I grew up with!
Toumas is so freaking good at building a coherent and clever leitmotif. His core melody on the synth just weaves through the song and all of a sudden pops up again. Such a good song writer

You've got to do yourself the favor of going back and looking at the Waken version of this from 2013. Floor started with the group as a mid tour replacement for the other lead singer. That concert represented months of touring with the band and it was a tour de force performance. Phantom of the Opera got my attention. Ghost love score and Storytime from Waken grabbed me and said, let's go get the wallet. I love this band. I can't say I love every song; but, their musical talent is insane across the board. Love Tarja. Love Floor. The two of them and Melody Cristea a re like a triplet of 'holy crap.' I'm so glad I discovered.
Pinkpop as good - lucky people. As far as I have seen so far, Deichbrand seems to have been best recorded. You noticed the mix... Pinkpop is annual in Netherlands - the name comes from Pentecost, nothing to do with Pride or anything like that Floor was advised to have a stance with her hands on her thighs when windmills, to help avoid injury. You can bet she's taken advice - she's not one to put her voice at risk. Have you not seen Storytime before? Wacken for example? Excellent mix. The little string staccato and the brass (is it trombone? Sounds like it or could be low French horns - the LPO players could certainly add the rasp). I adore Floor's lower register - more than her top register actually. So velvety and gorgeous. If you're interested in the detailed thought she puts into these performances, there is a video on Floor's YT channel in which she explains every choice in the Wacken performance of Ghost Love Score. Really, if you want to play along, you ought to do it with the piano out of the video mix. Oh, and please - Yahn-sen
I don't know where the harmonies came from early in the song but they're not on the Wacken performance. There IS a choir, though, and it comes from the London Symphony Orchestra; a children's choir which fits nicely in with this song's lyrics.
The Pinkpop Storytime performance is definitely more "Pop" than the official Wacken 2013 version. I think the Hellfest performance in France that came right after PinkPop had a much better vocal sound mix and a crazier fan base.
The suggested links are mostly from concerts made into DVDs so they have great sound quality and production...this is new but doesn't have that, still enjoyable of course but if you can check out Wacken for Storytime, that one is killer performance

I was confused. Thought I had already seen this reaction and I guess I had. LOL. It was extremely hot and Floor had already performed a solo concert two hours earlier. A much better and longer Nightwish concert is at Hellfest a few days later.
As for the best version of Storytime I'd say that would be Wacken 2013, it's definitely Floor's most powerful performance of that song with a very impressive ending. As for Nemo it's hard to decide between Wacken 2013 (again, a real powerful version) or her more recent 2022 festival performances of Nemo (like on Hellfest) where she has started doing a 15 sec long belting at the end!
Analyzing something recent from Nightwish is actually a great idea. Only thing is I think it would have been better to listen to some of their newer songs from their latest albums with Floor, as the 2 songs you chose have been part of (all I think?) their official live releases since their first one with Floor which is Wacken 2013, so there must be like 3-4 official live versions of both Storytime and Nemo. (I know you're not familiar with their discography so that's ok). So for some of their newer songs I'd recommend to listen to Noise and How's the Heart, both live at Hellfest 2022. Noise is probably the song Floor is performing the best live these days, her belts are just incredibly powerful and the ending is just amazing! As for How's the Heart, again an amazing, powerful and emotional ending, but it's a softer more emotional song overall. I'd probably recommend Tribal as well for a 'wilder' heavier side of both Floor and Nightwish.
She had trouble doing the 'windmill'--Dutch get it lol in her early years in Metal so someone she asked about how to keep from hurting herself told her to put her hands on her hips and rotate her head. That little tip solved the problem---now you try it lol.
Out of these two, Nemo, because of emotional reasons. I have been a Nightwish fan from the very early years, so Nemo is an earlier classic and it just is for me one of their signature songs. It is still on the set list, which says a lot,

Two great songs and performances. I do find the prerecorded vocal harmonies intrusive and unnecessary. It you want to hear Floor singing Storytime with her vocal high in the mix, you should listen to the Wacken 2013 version of the song - extraordinarily good, as is every song from that set.
One of the most overlooked parts of Floor's performance is, I think, her role as the front person of the band. There is no doubting her vocal abilities (anyone who disputes this is either deaf or a Beyonce fan) but very rarely do you hear about how she has the crowd as in control as her voice. I've been lucky enough to see Nightwish live a few times and the crowd adore her and tightly so. Her showmanship is superlative and she is without doubt the best at leading her crowd. She is far from a just a technical genius.
If you like pop music, Floor Jansen can provide that to you too. She just started a solo career besides Nightwish. She released her third pop song very recently.
Hi Nina, seen a lot of reaction vid’s already, but I have to say, like yours and I’m impressed by your musicality. I will make a suggestion, if you finished your NighWish journey, start an Epica journey. For me Epica is the most versatile band in the world, due their collaborations with other singers (Floor the friend of Simone, Mykur) and bands/orchestra/ choirs. The band have an amazing repertoire with the full range of metal music imo. To see the best and versatile singers in from the scene (world) visit Ayreon. Arjan Lucassen is the other magical composer from the scene and more progressive. ENJOY.

Yeah pinkpop might block things it really depends on the concert. A lot of their other live ones doesn't get block, though while I love Nightiwsh they are really aggressive with claiming. Hope you don't get too put off by this though it's really understandable if you do get frustrated.
Interesting reaction. I do enjoy the way proper musos disect music, and you clearly know your stuff. I cannot imagine being able to play along as you hear it. One thing though: It's pronounced 'Yansen' not 'Jansen' (more or less, to an English ear)

Yep. 1) the venue; 2) the video quality; 3) the audio quality; 4) Marko is singing with Floor😢; 5) Jukka on drums; 6) Floor’s voice is impeccable. 2013 Wacken was a seminal performance for Nightwish. I always say that if a NW song was performed at 2013 Wacken, it is the one you should see/hear.
Please, Nina, consider reacting to TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (official video) It is a song from Nightwish's songwriter/keyboardist's 2014 solo project "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", a graphic novel by Don Rosa. Tuomas wrote a soundtrack for it.
It was recorded in London with an orhestra. Vocals by Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela.
Different from Nightwish songs but as good, beautiful.

You know Floor did her first solo concert at Pinkpop, & a few hours later did the NW one you are watching. What a woman! You might want to check out her in that one in well. One thing I really enjoyed in this concert was the stage set up that had a platform into the audience. Try to catch a song where she is traveling, she is so great with audiences.
Right now I am really into Hellfest that was in July 2022. So pleased The first two songs are newer you haven’t heard yet, Noise & Tribal. Please do those two together! Btw Wacken is a festival as well in Germany. 🤘💕

If you like "Storytime," you really should listen to the Wacken version of it. The mix was for a live DVD, so it sounds a good deal better than this. You could also check out some of their performances from Wembley, Tampere, or Buenos Aires. They all sound amazing too.
If you are going to react to more "recent" material, I'd suggest seeking out some newer compositions. "Noise," "Pan," and "Tribal" from the latest album are all great -- though I'm not sure how many good live versions you'll be able to find. The music video for "Noise" is great though.
I'd also love to see you react to some of Floor's solo stuff.

As a fellow Dutch(guy) a few years older than Floor, I like to give you a kind of introduction to the special match. Floor & Nightwish found each other in a special and very specific time, in there journeys. A great amount of happy coincidences, conspired to come together and made this a very special match..
Floor 1.01:
She had a very average childhood, all be it. Coming from a bit above average, effluent background. School, especially highschool was a bit 'akward' for her. From about age 10 she almost always was 'the tallest', not only of the girls, but of all her peers. Going to normal Dutch schools, and following her father during some moves across the South of The Netherlands. They moved a few times following the change of workplaces of her father.
One must know that among her peers, specially in the time period that she attended highschool. House music was paramount during that time period, think 'Two Unlimited' and somesuch. Her peers of the time in school, were pretty two-dimensional. One was peer pressured to be all 'normal', standard think a bit Girly-girls for the girls. If one did not follow that mold, you were most definitely labeled: Alternative. All in all not the most happy time, her years in highschool.
She loved music, but other music than mainstream. Learned guitar from her father(at age 13), joint her first band(aged 16) the band later renamed itself as After Forever. After completing her O-levels, this aspiring Biologist decided to make Music her main occupation in Life. She was part of the Grounding Class at the Tilburg, Rock Academy. An initiative to establish a (new kind of) music college/university. A school, to study music, but also not ignoring the need to school this new breed of musical professionals in the Business side of the Music Business. She continued her studies of music on a more mainstream music college(conservatorium), to study Opera and Contemporary music/ Musical theatre. Long after finishing the Rock Academy in 2003. She did teach also in the field, even some classes at her Alma Mater in Tilburg.
From 2009-2010, till just before joining Nightwish she was (forced to) take a big hiatus from Music, due to Burn-out symptoms. In fact Floor stated in interviews that Nightwish should not have called, even 5 weeks earlier than they did. Floor thinks that even five weeks earlier. She would not have been ready mentally to embark on her new life-adventure: Singing for, and later joining Nightwish.
The Wacken.2013 DVD is part of this first world tour. If you have 2,5 hours to spare, you can look on UA-cam for the documentary called; 'Please learn the Setlist in 48-hours.' She knew the band and there songs, but not the 15 songs of the new album, Imaginaerum. The song 'Ghost Love Score', is one of the first songs she contributed to writing/arranging music. During rehearsals/sound-checks she decided one day, to sing here variations on this mainly Tuomas and Taria song. The rest of the band liked her version of the vocals so much, they kept them her way till the present day.
In oktober 2013 she became a full member of the band Nightwish, at the same time as Troy Donockley. So beginníng with 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful (album)' and Élan she and Troy were also contributing to writing of Nightwish music. With Tuomas (still) being the main composer, writer of music and arrangements.
Outside, alongside Nightwish she was part of Nordward and Ayreon. Starting 2019 she persued more solo projects, alongside her Nighwish work. 'Beste Zangers' gave this a big boost and the prolonged rest of Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021 was used by Floor to compose(herself) some new, solo works like Fire, etc.
Never met, or collaborated with each other. Floor and Henk Poort met just days before this recording and it was discovered they have a very good and special stage-chemistry.

Nighwish 1.01:
Symphonic Metal Band, since 1996 with as a nucleus Tuomas, keybord, composer and arranger and Taria, Soprano vocals and youth friend of Tuomas. They lost/send away Taria in the last part of 2005, and it almost broke the band. Other musicians joined, as other band members quit, or were no longer able to be part of Nightwish.
Marco and Taria performed a RE-arranged rendition of Phanton of the Opera. And this Tuomas Arrangement of this song became the basis of Beste Zangers 'Phantom', with Floor and Henk Poort. Henk performed (200+ times) as The Phantom in the A. Lloyd-Weber musical in The Netherlands. Henk is also very well known, for his work on stage as head-liner in the musical 'Les Miserables'.
Anette was a more pop-music oriented singer that joined Nightwish around 2008, and she was physically unable to continue the 2012 world tour, touring the leg in the USA. That ultimately led to the recasting of the Main singer, to Floor Jansen.
Also to know is:
Tuomas had a hard time, many years after the split between Nightwish and Taria. It more than 'just a little', unsettled his Mental and Emotional Equilibrium. He was forced, in the end to write this out of his system, resulting in the Song: The Poet and the Pendulum.

Nighwish's Tuomas uses a lot of recordings along the live-played music onstage. Most of these recordings come from collaborations in London, England. The London Philharmonic and several London based Singers and Choirs come to mind.
Now exact then ten years later Floor and here 'Brothers' of the Band Nightwish still conquer the world one live-concert at a time..
As down to earth as to be expected from a Metalhead(!!), Soprano from Holland, just hanging with her Brothers in Arms.
Still free of any Diva-like tendencies that almost wiped-out this band in 2006..

Great job as usual. PinkPop was in The Netherlands earlier in the day. The official live version of Storytime is from Wacken 2013, and is probably the ultimate version. Floor exceeded perfection. Originally written when Anette was the lead singer, the operatic section was only pre-recorded choir vocals. Floor wanted to take it on. If you want to check out recent performances, even later than this, there are quality videos from Hellfest in France, around dusk, and Diechbrand in Germany at night, with full pyro and light show. Emppu’s solos often leave you wanting more. I hope this means all your electronics survived the lightning strike. 🤞🏻

Hello Nina. Yeah I was there. It was bloody hot. The day started very good because Floor had a solo appearance in the morning hours. Of course together with Henk Poort. Then 2 hours later she was on stage with Nightwish and blew us pretty much away... Unbelievable what she did there...
Pretty much same page with you on that I wish Floor's vocals were louder in the mix. Also in Wacken 2013 she had no harmonies on background yet since she had been with them only 10months and all of it on road. In Tampere 2015 she gives again little different Storytime, so I say check those out if you want to see the progression of this song. Also Tampere concert setlist is amazing, so if you wish to see Marco with the band still, that's probably one of the best concerts to see him. And maybe it had to do with it being Nightwish's home audience that brought them together even higher level than usually. Who knows, I might be buyest.
Tampere is my favorite. I love the setlist. And I think the sound is the best of any of the shows.
This is definitely not a super polished mix like Wacken, Tampere, Buenos Aires, or Wembley. Those had a lot more effort put into them. This is basically just capturing what they sounded like at the show. You can tell those other shows had a lot of post-production.
I think you'd really appreciate Floor's vocals on Dead Boys Poem live at Buenos Aires. It's really special.
It is the best song to get to know Tuomas. I believe to this day it says all about his mind.

My favorite song by Nightwish is "Storytime".... followed closely by " Elan," "Ever Dream," "Endless Forms Most Beautiful," "Song of Myself" then, their tribute to Pink Floyd, singing " High Hopes" ( if you want to hear Marko singing lead vocals, and Emppu showing off his guitar skills....it's a must listen! )

Toumas is so freaking good at building a coherent and clever leitmotif. His core melody on the synth just weaves through the song and all of a sudden pops up again. Such a good song writer

You've got to do yourself the favor of going back and looking at the Waken version of this from 2013. Floor started with the group as a mid tour replacement for the other lead singer. That concert represented months of touring with the band and it was a tour de force performance. Phantom of the Opera got my attention. Ghost love score and Storytime from Waken grabbed me and said, let's go get the wallet. I love this band. I can't say I love every song; but, their musical talent is insane across the board. Love Tarja. Love Floor. The two of them and Melody Cristea a re like a triplet of 'holy crap.' I'm so glad I discovered.

As far as I have seen so far, Deichbrand seems to have been best recorded. You noticed the mix...
Pinkpop is annual in Netherlands - the name comes from Pentecost, nothing to do with Pride or anything like that
Floor was advised to have a stance with her hands on her thighs when windmills, to help avoid injury. You can bet she's taken advice - she's not one to put her voice at risk.

The little string staccato and the brass (is it trombone? Sounds like it or could be low French horns - the LPO players could certainly add the rasp).
I adore Floor's lower register - more than her top register actually. So velvety and gorgeous.

I don't know where the harmonies came from early in the song but they're not on the Wacken performance. There IS a choir, though, and it comes from the London Symphony Orchestra; a children's choir which fits nicely in with this song's lyrics.

The Pinkpop Storytime performance is definitely more "Pop" than the official Wacken 2013 version. I think the Hellfest performance in France that came right after PinkPop had a much better vocal sound mix and a crazier fan base.

I was confused. Thought I had already seen this reaction and I guess I had. LOL. It was extremely hot and Floor had already performed a solo concert two hours earlier. A much better and longer Nightwish concert is at Hellfest a few days later.

As for the best version of Storytime I'd say that would be Wacken 2013, it's definitely Floor's most powerful performance of that song with a very impressive ending. As for Nemo it's hard to decide between Wacken 2013 (again, a real powerful version) or her more recent 2022 festival performances of Nemo (like on Hellfest) where she has started doing a 15 sec long belting at the end!
Analyzing something recent from Nightwish is actually a great idea. Only thing is I think it would have been better to listen to some of their newer songs from their latest albums with Floor, as the 2 songs you chose have been part of (all I think?) their official live releases since their first one with Floor which is Wacken 2013, so there must be like 3-4 official live versions of both Storytime and Nemo. (I know you're not familiar with their discography so that's ok). So for some of their newer songs I'd recommend to listen to Noise and How's the Heart, both live at Hellfest 2022. Noise is probably the song Floor is performing the best live these days, her belts are just incredibly powerful and the ending is just amazing! As for How's the Heart, again an amazing, powerful and emotional ending, but it's a softer more emotional song overall. I'd probably recommend Tribal as well for a 'wilder' heavier side of both Floor and Nightwish.
She had trouble doing the 'windmill'--Dutch get it lol in her early years in Metal so someone she asked about how to keep from hurting herself told her to put her hands on her hips and rotate her head. That little tip solved the problem---now you try it lol.
Out of these two, Nemo, because of emotional reasons. I have been a Nightwish fan from the very early years, so Nemo is an earlier classic and it just is for me one of their signature songs. It is still on the set list, which says a lot,

Two great songs and performances. I do find the prerecorded vocal harmonies intrusive and unnecessary. It you want to hear Floor singing Storytime with her vocal high in the mix, you should listen to the Wacken 2013 version of the song - extraordinarily good, as is every song from that set.
Now you should def check out the acoustic Version of Nemo. It (she) will blow you away =D

One of the most overlooked parts of Floor's performance is, I think, her role as the front person of the band. There is no doubting her vocal abilities (anyone who disputes this is either deaf or a Beyonce fan) but very rarely do you hear about how she has the crowd as in control as her voice. I've been lucky enough to see Nightwish live a few times and the crowd adore her and tightly so. Her showmanship is superlative and she is without doubt the best at leading her crowd. She is far from a just a technical genius.
i think the back vocals were by Anette's recorded voice! Also Floor's voice is lower than her version on Waken 2013

I will make a suggestion, if you finished your NighWish journey, start an Epica journey. For me Epica is the most versatile band in the world, due their collaborations with other singers (Floor the friend of Simone, Mykur) and bands/orchestra/ choirs. The band have an amazing repertoire with the full range of metal music imo. To see the best and versatile singers in from the scene (world) visit Ayreon. Arjan Lucassen is the other magical composer from the scene and more progressive. ENJOY.

Yeah pinkpop might block things it really depends on the concert. A lot of their other live ones doesn't get block, though while I love Nightiwsh they are really aggressive with claiming. Hope you don't get too put off by this though it's really understandable if you do get frustrated.
I prefer Storytime, the whole album Imaginaerum and the movie are a freaking hell of a conceptual work. Also the movie is a must to see.

Interesting reaction. I do enjoy the way proper musos disect music, and you clearly know your stuff. I cannot imagine being able to play along as you hear it. One thing though: It's pronounced 'Yansen' not 'Jansen' (more or less, to an English ear)

I agree, better recording and not as hot. I was at Pinkpop it was an inferno, easily the hottest day of the year. Also she performed twice that day, her stamina was off the charts, while the guys were struggling to keep up.😂
