The one regret I have is not going west to hunt one time. I always thought there would be time when my kids grew up. Then I got hurt, disabled and my dream ended. Can't walk far, can't sit still from pain and no strength in the legs. Don't put it off if you dream of going.
I always love seeing you hunt in my home state. Bonus, Wade and Scotty... now it's a hunt! I've been gone for a few years but just retired and moving back later this year. No more applying as a NR. Congrats on a great animal. Can't wait to see what's next.
That's an awesome freaky buck! Love it! I've been lucky enough to get to hunt those little deer most of my life as I was born in S.Arizona and have lived my entire life here. Love your videos.
Congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL buck! I grew up hunting in that area and killed my first deer in those hills. I was eleven years old. I have watched you hunt that area and I will swear that I have hunted the same hills and gullies that you are hunting. It is a beautiful area. I would like to hunt it again before I get too old to chase up and down the hills. As usual, great video.
Man beautiful hunt love see some of that beautiful cactus the small branch ones beautiful country nice deer tks y'all are my favorite hunting videos tks from down on the bayous of South Louisiana , I got to where I wait to see your videos tks again.
If you heard college stories from those guys, you'd never watch another video with me in it. We owed the world a tragedy with our behavior, but somehow we made it out alive.
There is no doubt in my mind that you must have some kind of pull with our Game and Fish department. I’m a resident with a CHAMP permit and haven’t been drawn in 2 years for the GMU that I also happen to live in. Ya got drawn in 21 and 3 years later in 24, with apparently 4 points at the most. I had 3 points for the 24 season. Good for you Randy. Well the 25 season I’ll have 4 points and hopefully get drawn. Been on average about every 6 years to get an Elk tag also. Well the positive is I really like going for the Javi and usually get drawn every year for that. I’ll be out there mid February looking for the Stinkers
I hope you draw this year. I always put an easy choice as my second choice. This is the only time I've drawn my fist choice in the last 20 years. I just want to go and I'm not stuck on any particular unit, so I look at the odds and apply. Good luck with the javelina.
Very nice! Your B-roll is always so beautiful. I like how you pitched the hunt as a result of learning from a prior hunt, and how the Western Apache throve in the area. Good shot! Oh! Is there a place where I can go and read the reasons for your choice of 7mm-08 caliber? Thanks! 🙂
Glad you liked the video and the B-roll. There are plenty of reasons for choosing this caliber. It's a really good option for a variety of game and situations. I've taken everything from moose, to mountain goat, to pronghorn, to these little Coues deer with the 140 grain Nosler AccuBond in this cartridge.
😅How come you never purchase a Cougar tag? It would sure help the deer population . Plus smoked cougar meat is delicious 😋 Love watching your videos. Always entertaining and your excitement on these hunts is infectious. Makes me smile wish I was there experiencing the thrill too. ❤
I always say I'm going to buy a lion tag, and then I forget, as I never expect I will see another one. This hunt made it 4 lions in the last two AZ hunts. Crazy, as I've only seen one in all my years of hunting Montana. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I can't remember ever seeing a fat native American in any of the old pictures. No hydrogenated vegetable oil for them. That's the coolest Coues buck I've seen. Shot a non-typical blacktail a couple years ago, which are rare; has a 10 inch spear coming out of the base of his right antler. In my experience, it's only the older mature bucks that get really knobby like that around the bases.

Love your hunts. I lived in Arizona for about 10 years. Flagstaff and phoenix.

Thanks for the kind words - it's great to hear the videos are making it down to Louisiana.
Nice work. Congratulations. I also have a fascination with Native Americans and how they survived for thousands of years here.
Would love to just share a camp with Randy and those guys. I bet the stories are never ending

How come you don't hunt with Jerry any more?
We've not drawn any tags as a party. We were texting earlier this month about our 2025 application plans. Hopefully this year will be a hunt with him.
Arizona coues hunts will separate the men from the boys , not easy hunting these rugged mountains and cactus
