But I think I saw some youtubers bought instant ones online.. Maybe you can have a taste of how the Malay's wedding foods taste like 😁 If you do wanna try it, don't forget to buy the 'lauk' as well.. Che Nah explained how to eat the nasi kerabu mostly in Malay and seems like Kaz can understand what she was saying. I really respect your politeness to the elderly Kaz 👍💜

The blue colour for nasi kerabu tradisionally come from bunga Telang/ Butterfly Pea flower. Soak the petal in water and you get blue. Some people use this petal to make hot tea too.
Nasi dagang is unique, because it has 2 version, Kelantan & Terengganu, you should try both!, I'm from Kelantan, you should also try, Ayam Perchik, Laksam, nasi putih Gulai Ikan tongkol, Sup perut and Sup Gearbox...hope you can find this dishes... 😁😁😁
Kaz, you are not too far off to think that nasi kerabu relates to Thailand. You see, the dish originates from the old Malay states of yesteryears (Pattani/Narathiwat/Kelantan/Terengganu) - essentially the east coast states. After colonisation by the Brits, the old Malay states were divided where Pattani went to become part of Thailand, and Kelantan became part of Tanah Melayu (Malaya) and subsequently Malaysia.
I love this guy, currently am studying in the UK. Being able to see you makan Nasi Dagang and Nasi Kerabu just overwhelms me of how much you love it. I love it myself and I am from Terengganu, I'm drooling to see you makan!!
Awesome kaz.. When i was at Terengganu i like their nasi dagang.. 😄👍🏼👍🏼 and when i was at my village Kelantan i like nasi kerabu.. That’s right no need to compare because both are delicious 👍🏼
When eating nasi dagang. Try the rice first. The fragrance smell makes you hungry for more. Nasi kerabu is a mix rice with herbs. The rice is soak and cooks with blue flower water(forgot the name) . theres also nasi kerabu in Kelantan shop that use 100 type of herbs in their dish... Idk if they open anymore. P:s the keropok that u eat last is crushed into the nasi kerabu to add crunchy texture.
Natural food dye blue/purple colour is from Telang flower. My mom made Telang water by decoction (i think) & taste like flower & grass (must add some sugar to alter the taste) but looks like color of soda water where people sell drinks at stall. Also, some of kelantan people use certain leaf (forgot the name) which also had blue color after decoction.
Good choice you bought nasi dagang and nasi kerabu. I’ve tried them before from the same food truck. They are very delicious. Che Nah also serve good nasi lemak and traditional malay kuih 😋
Tips to eat nasi kerabu : You need to mix everything.. rice, veggie, coconut fish flakes, fish cracker and gravy.. except meat and that 'chili sushi'.. the different taste of each things compliment each other and boost the taste
The purple came from original tilang flowers..that's not artificial colour..it original from the flowers..it's make nasi kerabu more delicious..thanks KAZ for having that..
It pronounced as 'burger' without R then 'dill' as in the herbs, dill.. BE-GE-DIL The blue color of the rice comes from butterfly pea flower.. It is quite common to use that flower nowadays.. You can even find butterfly pea cheesecake in Secret Recipe(a fast food chain) And you are correct about nasi kerabu that it kinda looks like Thai's food.. Kelantan is just next to Thailand.. That's why they have mix of culture over there.. That fish in nasi dagang is indeed family of tuna.. Usually they used mackerel for nasi dagang's gravy.. Haha okay, too much explanation.. LOL.. Have a nice day and keep on putting more weights 🤪
I’m from Terengganu, and one of my fav breakfast is laksam. Its like a rolled noodle, which made from rice flour, mixed with white-coconuty fish gravy, mixed with raw vegetables like what you found in nasi kerabu. Bet you gonna like it, because the taste is really mild. No red-orangy gravy. Noodle. And white gravy. And veges. Perfect!
Nasi Kerabu blue colour come from natural colour of butterfly/blue pea flower (bunga telang). And the said pepper sushi is called Solok Lada. When eating nasi kerabu, you must mix all the veggies & nasi together.
both are my favorite dishes 🤤🤤 the purple/blueish nasi kerabu you got are made fom flower extract, fully natural coloring. there’s vendors making it using artificial food coloring and it’s noticeable from the much brighter blueish color itself.
Me myself is johor people but I really like nasi kerabu and nasi dagang .I would like to recommend to try nasi ambang famous among jawa (also part of Malay)communitiy in Malaysia
Natural coloring for nasi kerabu made from "bunga telang", the one you eat most probably use bunga telang, sometime artificial coloring used, the bluish different.
