How to make a bead loom

- After my store bought loom didn't work for what I needed it to do. I decided to make my own loom more customized for what I needed it to do. I made my loom with materials I already had so I don't know the exact names of everything.
Materials I used:
1- 1 x 4 board cut 12 inches long
2 small pieces of wood cut 1 inch long each
2 bolts 3 1/4 inches long same width as my board
4 nuts to go on my bolts at each end
1 screw about a inch long to tie your cord tails down to
6 eye screws - open one of them so you can attack the button end of your bracelet to the loom
Tools needed:
saw to cut your wood
super glue gel
a grinder to smooth the rough cut edges of the wood or you could use a dremel
Watched this. Went into my basement and made it. Took about 15 minutes, I had everything I needed in stock. Thank you so much. Just started beading last week.
Well this video is 12 years old, which means I was 13 when it came out.
But I’m now a beginning beading / wire crafter and this was the most helpful, concise, and thorough tutorial I’ve seen.
I’m stunned and a tad jealous that your fingers and manicure are immaculate after doing sawing and sanding 😂
Thanks for this video!
Just when I thought I was turning into a bead artisan. Now, I'm a carpenter ;-) Thank you for this tutorial :-)
This is a very clever way of making a bead loom. If one of the wooden cross-pieces could be made movable, this would cope with work of almost any length. Well done!
This tutorial is exactly why i feel getting a loom board online/in stores for $40 and up is just dumb and ridiculous. What is worst abt the store-bought ones are they are too simple and restrictive for our need for variety of uses. Why buy it for tht kind of price when u can just make one for yourself. Super helpful tutorial and idea for jewelry-makers who can’t afford and refuse to buy a loom/weaving board like myself. Also the quality of this board looks way better than the ones ppl buy. You’ve no idea how much this hv helped me. Very few jewelry-makers are this handy and creative especially when it comes to the tools for beading/making bracelets. Thanks so much for this! 🤩
Never made anything like this before and you explained it perfectly. I'm a senior citizen and you made me feel like this is something I can do. I'm excited about starting this loom and bracelet. Thank you so much.
Love this... 9years later and your video and still helping people.. thank you
The only reason why I logged into UA-cam today - (haven't since last year) was to say thank you ! Have a "beadiful" day all!
Found this video and built my own loom today. So excited to try it out! Thank you for your videos. I have learned so much watching them. I am grateful you take the time to share your knowledge.
Hallelujah! Thank you for making this! I'm always jumping from one craft project to another and I definitely didn't want to invest money into something else. 😂
Wanted to buy a loom but came across your video, now I'm going to make my own. You're instructions are awesome and easy to follow with simple materials. Thank you so much!
Hi Aleisha, I made this loom back in 2015 from your video. It's one of favorites! Thanks for all of your tutorials over the years! Another of my favorites was your Magical Magatamas Earrings and Pendant! Thanks again! 😍
I am so glad your loom worked out. I do think that the 1mm waxed cotton cord is best for these bracelets mostly because it is flexible enough to tie macrame knots. The 2mm waxed cotton cord might work too, but I would use larger beads with it. I will try my best to share what I know. My next video will be a ring.
I don't know anything about beading. I looked this up for my son to make him a loom. I am a wood worker. So I'm going to improve on your idea. GREAT IDEA by the way
Have you improved this loom?
My husband just made this loom for me! I can hardly wait to use it! Thanks so much for your videos! :-)
Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge so carefully and thoroughly. I didn't think I'd have the patience to sit and watch a half hour tutorial but I've actually watched two so far. I am inspired to go make a loom and start making bracelets.
Looking for a quick loom solution - thanks so much for the box lid tip - had a wooden box kicking around & used binder clips on the lid - perfect short term solution! Glad I caught your video in 2024❤️💫
Thanks for this! I was just looking on Amazon for a starter loom, but now I'm going to make my own because I can see right away your design is much more versatile. BTW, construction wood is really soft. You don't need a Dremel to smooth the rough edges! Any old sanding block or paper will do. Cheers--you're very inventive.
I love you!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!!!! You have saved me a trip and soooo much money! Thank you thank you thank you!
You ain't no carpenter, but what an excellent job you did! I have been looking for a 24" loom and they run about $299. I figure after watching you video I can make one for about $15-$20 (a few more bells and whistles). But what you did is a fantastic starting point for me; I hadn't even thought of making my own until now. Thanks so much for the video! I am also worried about the roughness of the threads on the bolts, but I will be using "all-thread" and I will test the roughness before building.
I'm thinking some nail polish over the threads of the carriage bolts would smooth them enough to reduce the risk of thread cutting, but still allow for the ridges that help keep the threads in place.
Hubby made my bead loom today ,inspired by your DIY loom,i bought a wooden tray on sale and supplies from Home depot, total $10,i felt it was better than the Rick's loom which i planned to buy earlier, but when i saw it,I decided just to ask my hubby to make one according to what i wanted! Thanks for the tut!
How creative to make your own loom. Thank you so much for sharing. I just showed my husband this video and asked if he could make me one.
I was about to buy a loom, actually i was saving money to buy it this week. And when a saw the video, and your reasons to created one, I Knew a had to try it. Well I made one, it doesn't look as good as yours,....but it's mine. I think now I'm going to aply some paint on it. Thank you for your videos, I'm learning with you a lot!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. You are innovative and generous!
Oh wow 😮thank you for sharing now I’m going to make my own I can’t wait to try it out I always like to make my own things instead of buying it
I have the materials needed posted under all my videos in the description bar.
Materials I used:
1- 1 x 4 board cut 12 inches long
2 small pieces of wood cut 1 inch long each
2 bolts 3 1/4 inches long same width as my board
4 nuts to go on my bolts at each end
1 stew about a inch long to tie your cord tails down to
6 eye strews - open one of them so you can attack the button end of your bracelet to the loom

Girl!!!THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL IS THE BEST ON UA-cam 🤩✨️I LITERALLY FOLLOWED the instructions You gave & Voila!!!I made IT!!!xoxo From Arcadia Michigan.☃️
You are a very talented lady, i admire your talent
I liked the other one. I was looking for it to build one. I bought one that you had linked. I think it was you that had it. I moved from Michigan to North Carolina. I left a lot of things, including my beading loom. I want to have one for here. Maybe I'll try this one.
I want to thank you. I am going to try the bead loom. Can't wait!
Stumbled across your video this evening - very nicely done! Immediately subscribed and have now enjoyed all your tutorials. I have looked at those store bought looms many times, but something always stopped me from buying them. Then I found your wonderful video - perfect and customizable to boot! Thank you for posting this - I agree with all of the other positive comments sent your way. Off to the garage now to find scrap wood and bolts! Thanks again! keep your videos coming! //~.~\\
Genius. I was just needing a loom and left mine in Austin LOL. I have cool antique one my aunt gave me. Now...something I notice about your resourceful and ingenious little design there...if you have enough nuts for those long bolts you could use them as dividers for the thread...simply screwing them closer or further apart...instead of relying on the small bolt threads. :-) Thanks...I have all sorts of shit in my garage and I'm usually pretty resourceful...but I was stumped ... thanks a million
I have my dad onto it for me.... It's all I want for Christmas LOL
Thank you for sharing, can't wait to try it ; )
Thank you! I used a 12" fabric cutting board and a binder clip. Didn't work well, but I got the bracelet done. This is so much better. Thank you for letting us use your design.
you go girl, your extremely talented. keeping them coming. I love the description words you use eye screw thingy lmao. great video
What a great tutorial! It was so easy to make with scraps we had. I did have to buy some eye screws but we had everything else. Can't wait to work on my bracelet. Thanks for making this video.
Oh, Alicia, thank you so much for this tutorial,,was wondering how you made your loom. Just when I think you have made the best tutorial ever, you come up with something even more clever to top it. I cannot say how much you sharing your creative genius with the rest of us means to us, we appreciate it so much! I can't wait to make this loom and get started. You should go into business and sell this loom, you will make a fortune!
Alisha, this is easy to make and a great loom board. Thanks
You're brilliant! Thank you for sharing this. I found spare wood under my house which I had a friend cut for me and purchased all the metal stuff from the local home depot. I know a lot of other jewelry makers make their own bead loom. I made one for myself and another for my daughter. Thanks you again love!
I just love your loom. The store looms R short and I don't care for them. I plan on making a loom like yours and I thank U for showing me how to do it. U have wonderful ideas. I will be watching and learning from U in the future. Keep up the good work.
i love your voiice but i'm not understand because i am french but i love your videos. thank you
Thank you for posting this! Just what I needed. Made one with stuff in my basement and it works great.

Your tutorials are great, very clear and easy to follow, thank you so much for sharing! I made my first bracelet today(single row), and plan to make the loom tomorrow!
Alicia, again let me say you are great! I have already started getting my supplies together to make this loom. I am so anxious to make the triple row bracelet. Thank you for the info and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. You are so creative!!!!
love how you did that. it very cool. another idea is to place nails in the 2 pieces with the glue will help with extra strength.
Very we j done,I was hunting all over for this and I found it. Thank you so much ❤️
THANKS A BUNCH, dear Aleshia, it's awesome you share with us how to make a loom for this kind of crafting! I got all information to buy what I need to make the loom, I'm very excited about, because I want to make the beautiful width brazaletes you had posted. I'm amazed, your video is from six years ago :D
Very thankful with you, Aleshia. _/o\_ ♡
Thank you for that video! Very instructive and cheaper than a real one :). I love the comment "I don't know what it's called"lol.
Way to go. I'll try to make one. Thank you again.
Brilliant!! I love this. Very smart.
Lol
Thank your informative and concise videos. You have a great talent for both creative and artistic projects and teaching skills.
Alisha, I have thought about making my own the second I saw how much they wanted for a loom! I have to hand it to you, you did such a great job. Thank you for posting your how to! (I'm sure it would have taken every brain cell I own to perfect it, lol) You've taken all the guess work out of it and I would hug you if I could, for making it possible for me to make one of these instead of paying so much for one. (My Husband would hug you too). Many Blessings to you! Thanks again!!
That was very helpful... I am trying to find a smaller loom. I have a Long one that I use for Belts and Horse tack. But wanted a Smaller one so I don't waste a lot of Thread. For smaller projects. I like your home made loom the best so far... Thank you again
Lowe's is getting tired of my "I don't know what I'm talking about but I need this thingy" shopping lists but I need to see if I can make this over the holiday break 😂 at least I'll have a video reference this time. 💁🏻
That's wonderful. You're really handy and that's great that you have a purpose built loom for making leather cord wrap bracelets. However, if people only have the standard bead loom that you showed at the beginning of the video, it is still possible to get your button closure secured in the right position for weaving. All you have to do is put a separate cord through the button (not the one that is attached to your bracelet) and then tie that cord to the nail at the back securely. Once you are finished with the bracelet you will be able to just take the separate cord out.
Love your work Alica thanks for sharing your awesome
thanks for the video I love the way you ended the bracelet
I have the other beadalon loom but this one is fantastic. I also found the Beadalon loom is not long enough for longer bracelets. Cool Idea!! Thanks!
Muchas gracias por compartir la ideas con los demas como siempre muy bien explicado ,me gustan muchisimos todos los videos ,felicidades
Very creative now get a wood-burning kit and create your own logo on it personalize it love your Channel

Thank you for the video, I just love it. Thank you again.
Hi Sara, Fireline is just a very strong thread fishing line. You can use any strong thread for these bracelets as long as your thread is thin enough so you can pass back though your beads at least three times.
Just made one. 25" Long and 4" wide. Pretty simple and up here in Canada the hardware only cost about $20 because I added 2 braces for the inner wall on each end and longer screws for the end posts. Took all of 25 minutes to put together.
A wonderful video. Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to know.
Thank you! It doesn't have to be fireline, but it is best if you use a thread like string for these bracelets. Here are other great beading threads that are also incredibly strong Wildfire and Dandyline. I buy my fireline at walmart in the sporting goods it is the cheapest place to buy it. Fireline is a thread fishing line they also sell it in bead stores It says beadsmith fireline on the box.
bea
Thank you so much for the video!
I made one and it worked sooo well!
That was genius.
As a side note, wood-glue is stronger on wood than super glue; the wood will break before the bond does. Great video!
very creative I like it
Just made this today. It was easy to make and use. Than.k you
Genius - love it - thanks for the tutorial
I’ve been watching g your channel for 2+ yrs
I want to make the bracelets you make so I’m about to make me of of these Beadiful Nights Looms 😊
Thank you so much! I just made it and it's life changing! haha.
I really like your channel and the bracelets you make!!
I am so excited - I made a loom very similar to yours and made my first triple row bracelet. It was so much fun! I think I am addictedbut I need to order more cord! I now only have 2mm leather cord, which is a little stiffer than the waxed cotton cord and I think for a five-row bracelet it would be too thick. Do you think the 1mm waxed cord would be the best for these bracelets? I am so happy that I found your site - I hope you will continue to share your talent with us. Thank you so much.
very clever...i like it.
How do you keep/increase tension on the warp threads?
WOW! Thank you so much! Have fun and be careful it is really addictive.
OMG so smart! 🤩🤩
❤ your awesome! Thank you.
