Exactly. That's why Dan Heng said Sunday has a noble soul. He is undoubtedly a hero lost in someone else's path. I wish he could get what he desires working for Elio's script, fingers crossed.
@@StranglerSix this, I've seen so many people have this huge hate boner for Sunday, when in reality a bunch of people have similar thoughts to Sunday. It's just that Sunday was manipulated into going on a path that isn't the greatest
@@StranglerSixDan Heng line was severely underrated, I honestly liked it better than Himeko’s (Of course Cia still did a phenomenal job with the delivery) Also, working with Elio would be the best use of his time. Robin has her own life being a pop idol, his role as the Oak Family Head is no more because of the dream ending as well as the fact that many people are hunting him down rn. He really has not many reasons to stay in Penacony. It’s time Sunday find his own path
@@kkorii5924People with a hate boner for Sunday don’t know anything, they fully believe that’s he’s a malicious person by nature which is false, they believe that he shackled Robin in a cage her entire life which is also false
I feel like a lot of people misunderstand one of the points of Sunday’s story. It’s about how one man’s utopia is another’s dystopia. Ideals can’t really be “right” or “wrong”, but if you apply any of them on a large-scale and take away flexibility/exceptions then the flaws are quickly revealed. Sunday isn’t the bad guy for trying to make the world a better place, but he IS the bad guy for forcing his perfect paradise onto everybody else regardless of what they think is best for themselves. The guests and citizens of Penacony didn’t actually consent to the Sweet Dream because they aren’t privy to the same knowledge of the Express + friends, and quite a few aren’t even sober! It’s like offering somebody candy and then secretly saying that eating it is consent to move them into your neighborhood LOL. Penacony is classic sci-fi, taking things we know and pushing them to the extremes. Sunday IS the antagonist and he IS the villain. He’s a not-so-subtle metaphor about what can happen when there’s corruption in a religion. As they say, “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.” (And I’m not ignoring Gopher’s manipulation here, but that’s a separate discussion from Sunday’s role in the story. We’re meant to sympathize and understand Sunday, but we can acknowledge the circumstances and STILL disapprove of his decisions.) Somebody whose ideals clash with Sunday’s will naturally want to fight him on every level, even if they understand where he’s coming from. Being angry or disgusted at Sunday is just as reasonable as sympathizing or connecting with him. ┐( ̄ ヘ ̄)┌
honestly sunday isnt even evil, compared to, lets say cocolia he could hardly be considered a villain at all. the true villain of penacony is mr gopher wood(who btw isnt an npc, you can find his true appearance in some of the stickers you find around the map, he looks like a cool crow themed priest) from their dialogue and the way gopher talks to sunday its obvious sunday is being groomed/manipulated by the guy, hes using sundays love for his sister and his desire for justice against him, leading him to believe that the sweet dream in penacony is the only way to stop the suffering of the weak. he genuinely wants to do a good thing hes just been mislead into doing it in a bad way
Yeah, every time Sunday opened his mouth I was going, “okay, you’re right, but how does any of this make it okay to brainwash people into compliance? Doesn’t it just make you another ‘strong’ person imposing his will on the ‘weak?’” Sunday did many things wrong, but his biggest “oopsies” can be traced directly back to an adult that he trusted manipulating him since he was a malleable traumatized orphan boy. Ironic that squirrel tree ultimately failed because he and Sunday considered Robin to be a passive, ineffectual little girl, when in reality she was the kind of person to take a bullet in the neck and ram a space train into an emanator and consider it a “calculated risk.”
@@atthewmayeohanekay9294 actually about the last bit about robin, I don't believe they thought less of robin, there's multiple things in game that point to them knowing robin is the more stronger willed of the two siblings Which is probably why gopher focused solely on grooming Sunday rather than his sister because she would be harder to manipulate
@@atthewmayeohanekay9294 also about the brainwashing (please don't take this as me arguing, as I fully agree with you :D ) I don't think Sunday actually brainwashed anyone as some of the things black swan says point to the people staying in enas sweet dream simply because they gave into that fake reality, it would be more precise to say Sunday showed them a sweet dream and they accepted it without fighting back
@@kkorii5924 There’s also the fact that because Robin is much more strong willed, Gopher manipulated Sunday into taking more of the “responsibility” to guilt him to taking it instead of his sister. Essentially, he’s threatening the pressure of the Head family responsibilities on to Sunday so his sister doesnt take it but in the meantime making Sunday more stressed, overworked, and easier to be manipulated.
Sunday's plan needs to be stopped, but honestly his outlook is far more accurate and realistic. Self-value IS an illusion and society dictates that value. The rat race society imposes is unnecessary and exists purely to uphold the broken power structures of the world. Sunday is acutely aware of the truths of the world, far more than Robin, but he unfortunately has taken the wrong approach to fixing those problems. Robin attempts to help people individually, but that simply won't work at scale, and is nothing more than a band-aid on a punctured artery. It's all we can do in the world as it exists today, but we shouldn't kid ourselves as to what it is.
Man...Sunday is kinda right...just needs a better aproach. Guy just needs a better PR team amd advertisments. Let's face it, people would jump at a chance to take an offer like that.
Omg yes, I originally thought that a bullet narrowly missed her neck and left a small cut or a bruise or something, I NEVER imagined that she literally got SHOT IN THE NECK 😭 Edit: typo whoops
Honestly, It's sad to see Sunday being one of the mischaracterized in the game just because he's a guy and disregarded the fact that he was at the first stage of ascending to aeonhood. (third phase of boss) Like he's not someone trying to revive an aeon because he's crazily religious like others in the game (or the fandom) assumed, he wants to make a paradise because he loves humanity too much.
Sunday's logic is based on a host of false dicotomies lol. Every choice has me like "actually secret third thing you clearly haven't thought of because of your own ignorance on the matter". Like I'm educated when it comes to birds and there are several points in the story about the Charmony dove that is fully because Sunday wasn't educated in how birds and birds rescue work. Young birds are taught flight like how humans are taught to walk. Would you expect a human toddler to be capable of climbing a mountain with no training on how to even walk? Also in the sold kids section where was the option to find the kids and get them their freedom? Like wtf.

Sunday's ideal is what most people IRL do. Robin's ideal is what most people desire but honestly, neither of their ideals is right or wrong.
