Apparently Huyndai have fine tuned the stock exhaust to almost perfection. Putting some no name aftermarket downpipe just making sound worse.
"Fined tuned" it based on the legal rules & restrictions, e.g. noise & emissions. Someone in their shed can build whatever they see fit but large companies have to build machines based on rules & regulations which are not set based on lap times but that aunt Anne from next door would retain her sanity (and would not file a complaint somewhere) and green party would not have to rally against their product being sold.
Also, can not forget that a company produces to make profit - engineers have rules & regulations to abide and then accounting department has to be kept happy too... and then marketing department has to be taken into account too since they can not sell Hyundai for M2/M3/M4 money.
But yes - all that aside you are 100% right. Factory engineers base everything on optimizing performan... Ah shit! The thing has to be daily driveable leaving the factory? Things like economy matter? Who knew...

@@liamultraracer2060 Noice is also a form of emission. Catalytic converter and OPF are for Nox and N2 emmisions and whatnot.
Hyundai did a good job both exhausts sound great
I have an i30N and the best part of the stock exhaust is it can be civil and quiet when you want it to so your neighbours don't get mad but then you can put it in N mode when you want to make noise. This exhaust is just always loud all the time which completely defeats the purpose.
Just go straight pipes if all you care about is making as much noise as possible and having everyone hate you

Prefer stock to be honest, but as a first effort at a decent hot hatch I take my hat off to Hyundai 👍🏻
I would really love to see a Hyundai take on the stinger. I know they have genesis line which matches performance but just something with that ballsy performance sedan look

Sorry but sounds not much different than any other modern 2 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine with downpipe and exhaust. Actually prefer the stock noise.

ridow300 id prefer to have a car that sounds better than others. The car is near enough new and normally u don’t really need Warranty
so happy to be getting the veloster n here in the states but would really prefer this just for the four doors is such a nice thing to have..either way, happy hyundai cares about the enthusiasts left in the world lol

Not really a good comparison due to you parking in different places stock in the open and the aftermarket under a bit of an overpass! Should be tested which exact same acoustic surroundings

It sounded fine on N mode stock exhaust, got non N mode to enable to to drive peacefully on neighborhoods without all the time to turn heads. Now it's always make loud noise and TBH it looks nasty when all that black smoke comes from the new exhaust. Sometimes it's just best to leave it stock, if you want more just swap the car for a better car.

I really hate to say it but Stock sounds so much better , with , it sounds like any other car with a modded exhaust , at least with stock the pops and bangs are clearer the exhaust doesn’t sound like it has a modded exhaust which to me sounds more authentic

should of went only .25 or .5 bigger in pipe diameter therefor the back pressure would be there the sound would be more aggressive and only 200cpsi should be able to have a higher flowing cat then that surely or have only replaced the rear pipes and the down pipe with the setup you've given is there an increase in 0-100 time
