Award-Winning SF-Based C.A.N. News was a gay-community cable-news program modeled after the PBS-NewsHour. Along with producers Allen McClain & Raymond Tobler, I worked as an associate-producer, conducting interviews for this segment and additional photography.

Art Agnos, a great Mayor of San Francisco, sent me this clip in 2019 only 31 years after it was first played. What I said then is still true, I admire and am grateful for the Civil Rights Movement which has allowed gay and lesbian people out of the closets in which my colleague Harvey Milk and his generation were confined. I was at that parade, and a few other Gay Parades in San Francisco before this.
A great time in my life and a sad time too.

Very intelligent people.
Prejudice was way stronger at that time.
But nobody posed as victims.

At 3:57, OMG, is that Maya and Jess as you 20 somethings? I knew you in NYC (you had rabbits running around in your East Viallage apartment in 1987) and then in 1988 in SF when you guys lived on the top floor of that apartmetn building on 18th St and Oakwood.
