Thanks for the positive feed back Ed. I watched your video on JustMoparJoe’s eddy heads the other day. You did really nice work on them, very thorough.
Want another 10 to 15 hp on the strip? Put grease on the fan belt just before your run. The water pump and alternator will turn but slower. The grease will ware off and the belt will turn normal in a short time. I have done this and sure makes a difference.
Modifications will depend on what you're set up is. For your particular set up these modifications are great. Personally I have ran a progressive carb linkage setup to do away with the vacuum secondaries.. but I was always running six pack carburetors anyway. Track day, fuel is a big issue also. If you want to run pump gas and race with pump gas, then there's not a lot of fiddling that can be done with the timing. However, race gas, creates the situation where you can advance the timing considerably. I hesitate to offer any numbers specifically because we don't know what everyone's engines specifications are Etc. Free flowing exhaust, right gear selection, right camshaft for the RPM use, there is just so many variables that can be tweaked here and there. I always said that a 14 flat ET car was capable of 13 flat. There's plenty you can do to get it very near that number. Even with a stock car
This is exactly what I am looking for for my Mopar. My 35 year goal is to run a 13.99. Bought a new 383 and going to do everything you just said in the next few weeks. Great video.
Try bringing your car down to ambient air temperature in the pit and try not to heat it up before your burnout. Should go .15 to .20 quicker. Also remember that the closer you powerbrake it up towards stall speed the softer the hit on your tires. So remember that if you are tending to spin a little on launch.
How'd I miss this vid??! I was just thinking about how to sneak out to the track in Bremerton tomorrow but couldn't justify the trouble since I've made no improvements since the last time I ran it in Texas (2 years ago). I've never tried a couple of these and now my interest in tomorrow has piqued!! Anyway totally agree with the cool can comment especially for Texas. I used to run on the street with a little lunch cooler full of small frozen gel packs to keep it cold. 101° ambient = vapor lock just going to the store, racing after May in Lufkin? forgetaboutit!! w/o my cool can. I'm a 340 with a 360 stroke and heads in a heavy all there, 2nd gen barracuda. anyway thanks for the tips!
Heck yeah, a cool can sounds like a must down there. I love ‘68 Barracudas. My dad had 2 of them over the years. Hopefully you can get to the track tomorrow, good luck.
With air cleaner off. Better yet run bottom low profile aftermarket or the oval factory. Overall best ET Require no hood or scoop.2-3 filter stack. Other comment here run temp! YES 100% Mopar Perform best 170° 165°stat. Stat opening at burn box.
2:21 that's the first thing I check on any car I get ,or a buddy gets 😁 Brakes? Steering? Meh it'll be good enough. Lol who cares ,but ya gotta be sure you're getting all of your throttle 😁
Nice that 340 runs strong for "appearing" stock and on street tires! 70' or 71', 727 or 4spd with what rear gear? I'm going to mess around and get another Duster if I keep watching your channel lol
Thanks! It’s actually a ‘73 with ’72 front end parts (hood, grille,bumper etc.). It has a 904 with a stock 318 converter. And the rear is a b-body 8 3/4 with a 3.55 sure grip center section (741 case).
short, concise and all easy to do. Very nice little tips.
Great tips.
These things work.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Ed.

@@Duster_Garage Well thank you.
I really appreciate you saying that.

Thanks, I will have to give that a try.
Absolutely Brother I appreciate The Ride along Much obliged 👍🤙
No problem man!
If you have power steering, pull the belt off and run "armstrong" steering at the track. Should be good for a tenth or 2.
Beautiful MOPAR 👍😎🤙
Thank you

Thanks, I’m you found it helpful. Also, make sure your distributor does advance the timing Should go to about 36 degrees total.
Great tips. Enjoyed the video Thanks!
Thank you!
Good advice!
@@Festerman50 they’re basic tricks, but they work.
Great information
Very useful tips 👌

I definitely try to keep the car as cool as possible. I like your converter flash tip.
Just send er bud👌

Good results! Don't forget your coffee to knock off another 10th!
I am drinking one right now.
Man, that cars clean!
Thanks buddy
Don't forget the lightweight distributor springs so one can achieve 35* timing. Like your video's.
That’s another good tip. Thanks man.
Mount your battery in the trunk.
That really helps traction.
It definitely does

I should have added - just make sure to run your negative cable all the way to your engine block not just to the frame.
Great video!
Thank you

Yes, a good cool down of the engine is very important. I did forget to mention that. Very good point, thank you.

Cool can is valuable on a molar 340
I always wanted a cool can on my ‘71 Duster. I don’t think anyone makes them so I would have to fabricate one.

@@Duster_Garage Well hot damn greatcombo! Just so happens I have a 360, 904, B body 8.75 and stock 318 laying around. I just need another Duster!
A 360 with a little bit of stall behind it and 3.55 gears makes for a fun street combo.
All you need now is to add a cool catch phrase to keep on the dash, something like "Don't Start Any Sh!t D!ck."
@@TrevorThomas31 LOL. You got me stumped. How did you know that I had that label?
Tip #1: don’t bring a dodge to the drag strip😂😂😂
Close but no cigar, it’s a Plymouth.
