    Duuude, i have never seen someone actually explain the exact way comparators read items. I've been playing mc on and off since 2015 and never knew that's how they read items. I generally understood how basic item filters work just because i've built them so many times. But i never knew why that was the exact number it would get the right signal at. I feel like stuff like this is what can actually help people understand WHY the redstone actually works, instead of seeing tutorials and just knowing that it does work if you copy it correctly.
    I loved that explanation.

    You know what's bothering me though ? the 9 items making for an empty spot on the top shelf, but, what if the central bottom shelf item was moved to that empty top right spot ?
    And the leftover space in the bottom middle could be used to place some nice background like a colored concrete block to make the armor stand pop and feel more exciting !

    • @Ithenna
      @Ithenna Місяць тому +2

      I'm too tired to completely get it right now, but I definitely understand a lot more than I did before - which is saying something because I am absolutely horrible at redstone. I think this is the first real explanation I've heard for a comparator too. Like, a lot of people brush over it with an oversimplified explanation and they never make any sense.

    • @Alkymos
      @Alkymos Місяць тому

      @@Ithenna Comparitors are pretty simple to understand but have alot of things you can create with it which often makes them seem more complicated.
      All it does is to take the strength of the redstone signal going in the back and output it in the front. If you put a redstone block behind it (Full signal strength of 15) it will output that exact strength out the front.
      This gives you the possibility to get a redstone signal from the filled percentage of a inventory (like a hopper).
      Meaning if the hopper is 50% full the resulting signal will have 50% of it's maximum strength (15).
      If its 100% full you will get the full 15 strength redstone signal.
      Hope this helps abit.

    • @Ithenna
      @Ithenna Місяць тому

      @@Alkymos It is starting to, although I'm not sure which side is considered the front. Is that the side with two torches? I also feel like I've seen people input stuff from the sides, which never really made any sense to me either. That and however subtract mode is supposed to work... :/

    • @Alkymos
      @Alkymos Місяць тому

      @@Ithenna The front of the comparitor is the side with one torch and if you look at it there is almost like a white arrow pointing to that side. Easiest way to remember is that the redstone signal travels through the comparitor in the direction of that arrow.
      Although I don't want to make this complicated I will try to explain subtract mode as easy as possible:
      When you input a signal into the side of the comparitor there are two things that can happen:
      1 Normal mode (front torch off): The comparitor stops sending a signal out front if the side input is higher than the back one. F.e if you input 15 power from a redstone block into the side and only 10 from the back it will not give any redstone output out the front.
      2 Subtract mode (front torch is on): The comparitor will subtract the signal strength it receives in the side from the one it gets in the back. F.e if you input 12 in the back and 5 in the side the output in the front will be 12-5=7.

    you could achieve this whole logic with one sticky piston and a block
    or am i missing something?
    every second coind a succesful transaction
    -> pulse for every coin
    -> sticky piston looses and grabs a block alternating
    -> this blocks opens and closes the success-loop

    i dont like the idea of 3 per item simply because of how many missions you would have to do in order to collect them all

    I feel like it wouldn't be too difficult to extract the extra coin out if you add a "change" button. Which will try to dispense all non used coin out of the system.

    btw i don't know if someone said it in chat (or you already know about it lol)
    you can click the crafter slots to disable them
    they read out like a slot with an item in it but prevent any item from going in
    (doesn't stop the items from stacking after all slots are full though)
    so you can set the 7 other slots to disabled and then filter out a level 15 signal instead
    its not that big a deal but its a neat features of crafters you might find handy

    I'm commenting at like 4 minutes in so this may be irrelevant, but you could use the binary counter that Tango just came up with recently. You could pull comparator outputs from the bulb(s) that form the number you need. Then reset it. That only solves the counting issue though.

    You should just fill it so that hopper stops pulling once 3 have showed up (by having enough filler items). and then you pull 3 items out (via timing).

    i would have done it with pots: put 3 coins in and after the timer it gives the item and if its not 3 spit them back out.

      78* coins.
      A 1 in 9 chance of getting any one collectable does not mean you will have all 9 of them after only 9 purchases. In fact, there's a 0.09% probability of that.
      The expected number of purchases before receiving all 9 collectables would be 25.5 (26) purchases. So, in terms of coins, at 1 coin per purchase, you are looking at 26 before getting all 9;
      at 2 coins per purchase, 52 coins before getting all 9;
      and at 3 coins per purchase, 78 coins before getting all 9 collectables.
