The tears when Jimmy started to skateboarding was the tears of his body remembering something used to makes him happy. Probably the times when he was free from hard commitments. Life as adult is really hard, but we need to keep going anyway. It’s okay to go back and find piece of memories sometimes. We deserve to take a break and do what we love.

My husband and I don't skate, but we love sitting/standing by the side of the park admiring those who can. We can sit there for long time, that's like our weekend activity after dinner. Seeing those chidren happy n energetic with good skills, they must have good sleep after those exercise. Glad government didn't do any malls there but this lovely park ❤

Extreme sport was big in Malaysia in the 2000's. Kajang has a skate park too but I wonder if it still stand. Balik Pulau is abandoned.. 😢

Below the skate park is MRT underground tunnel and station. that is why the land cannot be develop for highrise building. the best option to optimize the empty land is either parking lot or public park.
I like it how the govt acknowledged that talent because before this there were so many people playing skateboard near the LRT entrance and its so dangerous as people walk past that area after work.
At first I thought Jimmy was a beginner and would fall over and over but it turned out that he got some tricks with the skateboard.. cool !

the skateboard area used to be the oldest mall in malaysia - Ampang Park which is why the stations are named after the mall. It's now a literal park.
Yay! This couldn't have come at a better time (I've been trying to get into freeline/free skatingbut am an old dude). I love this kind of series wherewe visit places like Ameen's shop, it's sort of like Jimmy's version of Showa Culture mini-documentary, such as when he visited Amcorp Mall...
...oh no... "mall"... *FLASHBACK* I MISS AMPANG PARK SHOPPING CENTRE SO MUCH (for the nostalgia value) 😥😭
The skatepark was design by Malaysian pro skater Padin Musa, and he also help construct it ❤ malaysia skating scene was big since in the 80’s
The site of this skatepark used to be the first shopping mall in Malaysia, which i grew up in.

Wow, I didn't know Jimmy can skate so well and seeing him doing a kickflip after such long hiatus from skating is just amazing. I'm 47yo this year, like Jimmy I also convinced myself to buy and build a skateboard hoping to relive my childhood dream but I didn't have the courage to go to skatepark nowadays because I really sucked (also shy!!) and the fear of injuring myself. But the feeling of owning a skateboard at this age is really brought so much joy because I never get to own a proper skateboard during my teens. Kudos to Jimmy for still able to pulls some tricks after not skating for so long!! Btw the cafe looks nice, the price for the coffee seems reasonable for specialty beans (normally they cost around RM20-Rm40 per cup ) and the pancake looks so good!!

the land value for that skate park is $$$$ but id give credit to city of Kl for putting the park there for the people, for free. It says a lot about the heart and soul of KL in keeping a balance between progress and still maintain connection with its peopleby giving back to the community, a space to gather, rejoice, enjoy the skyline and have fun!

Love how many parks in KL not just for free but FAMILY FRIENDLY! Hoping more progress from KL town council especially more padestrian friendly sidewalks with superb connectivity.
We had a child when I was 37 and I stopped snowboarding, then 8 years later finally did it again, felt SO good and came back pretty quickly after initially being nervous. The next year my son started learning. You did really well your first time back at it and I'm happy for you :).
If some Malaysians are as appreciate as you both for the love of Malaysia, they will not leave the country or say bad things about it. Jimmy is good at skateboarding. It's an art. Glad you found your passion again.

Btw, this Skate Park used to be where Malaysia (KL) built the first shopping mall in the country called Ampang Park back in the 70s before they tore it down to give way to the MRT construction. So this is like giving back to the community I guess.
