Hi, Tim! It has been a long time. I never thought I would be even thinking about online teaching again, but I got an email from Lingostar and it sparked my interest. I have been retired from teaching in a brick and mortar school and was pursuing another direction. When I saw you, and you gave them a thumbs up, I think I am going to do it! Pam Speckman
Hi Pam! I think VIPTeacher might pay around the same if not a little better if you want to get back into things - do you have an active contract with VIPKid still? All the best!
I saw something online about Lingostar and I have been wanting to teach online for awhile. I had a choice between subbing locally or coming online. With subbing I would not be able to go to the same place daily and that is a bummer. I think being able to meet individuals would be so much better. You mention a passport. Heck, I never had one of those. I have been parked in the states for all my life. I suppose that could take a state issues identification or drivers license. What do you think? Nice to see you that had a video on Lingostar. Take care!

Hi Tim, My husband applied to Lingostar through your link about a week and a half ago. He filled out all of the paperwork, uploaded his degree and TEFL certificate. And he was invited to do a demo teaching video which he did. After that he received an email from them saying : “We are pleased to inform you that your demo video on Lingostar has been approved. Congratulations! You can now proceed with the next steps. Click the button below to view the details. Also, please refer to the salary structure of Lingostar shown in the image below for your reference Then he was sent an email asking him for a photo and a 1 minute introduction video to get him scheduled." - which he did. Now, 4 days later he received this email…”We regret to inform you that your application process to become a teacher on Lingostar has not been approved. The reason for this decision is that . - no reason given.
After the email that congratulated him was also another followup email with a link asking him to start to review the training with all their rates and bonuses - here's part of what it said "Congratulations! You have passed new teacher training tasks! Moreover, it is crucial to prioritize the Regular Courses. We have attached two files, "Lingostar Curriculum Design" and "Notes for Regular Classes," for your reference. Kindly read through the attached materials thoroughly as your teaching will be evaluated based on the regular classes. If our Teaching Quality Team identifies any points mentioned in the materials, appropriate follow-up actions will be taken..." with extra instructions for his teaching with them. My husband had sent them a couple of emails during this process with questions they never replied to. The entire thing appears to be AI generated - doesn't seem like there are any 'real' people there. Also worth mentioning - they asked him to keep 20 hours open a week (not 10 which is more usual). Any ideas?? Anyway, since you are a 'mover and shaker' is there any chance to could contact them as of course it's in your interest too? If you want I can email you his name. Thanks Tim - you're the best!
Hmm, that's ODD and frustrating! Can you push them with another reply asking why - it could be a glitch? Let them know he was already accepted and you would like to know the reason why after sending the intro video is it rejected...
