Hi, Tim! It has been a long time. I never thought I would be even thinking about online teaching again, but I got an email from Lingostar and it sparked my interest. I have been retired from teaching in a brick and mortar school and was pursuing another direction. When I saw you, and you gave them a thumbs up, I think I am going to do it! Pam Speckman
Hi Pam! I think VIPTeacher might pay around the same if not a little better if you want to get back into things - do you have an active contract with VIPKid still? All the best!
Thank you for posting this. I just finished the application process. I haven't started yet but i will soon. I am reviewing their curriculum. It looks fun and very interactive.
There times are open and they have students in North America as well, peak times are in China for bookings but you also have weekends. No fixed times, you can open up what suits you but peak times will be best. No companies like cancellations but they work on a point system so you have some flexibility.
Where are you from? Are you sure its Lingostar? There are a couple of other "Lingo" companies out there. They are committed to not over hiring and are in need of NES.

Thank you for the informative video! Just fyi, the part where it says that associate's degrees also work seems to be incorrect. I just attempted to apply and got a message back saying that they were specifically looking for bachelor's degrees or higher. Oh well. Maybe I can apply again once I have my bachelor's. Just wanted to inform the other folks here and hopefully save them some time.
They do prefer a Bachelor's. Perhaps you can email them directly and let them know you would still like to be considered and could you have a chance to apply?
14 dollar an hour is not worth my time -- bills don't get paid with that. I get 18-30 an hour now. Remember as a contractor you have to pay your own taxes etc. Nope!!!!!

Yes and I've read in reddits teachingeslonline subreddit that Scots are hired straight on as native speakers just as any other UK nation ... the same thread made a comparison of how cambly and another 1 or 2 platforms were hiring South Africans as higher priority native teachers over Scots and Irish teachers
This company is actually one of the worst I have ever worked for, and that's saying something. I have fought employers in court for my paycheck, and this company was still worse. They find any excuse to penalize your paycheck and always side with the parent even if the mistake was their own negligence. I was stolen from when a parent reported she didn't like how I pronounced the word "Square". Overall Lingostar is one of the shittiest companies I ever had the displeasure of working for.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Thanks for replying! Yeah I agree with you. If someone is desperate and has no other choice they are better than nothing, but as soon as you can upskill I highly recommend leaving them.

Lingostar accepts native English speakers - I go through the entire details in the video.
Why is South Africa 🇿🇦 never mentioned or considered?
