re: the tempo "shift".... Garibaldi got the train back on track; it was kicked off too slow from the start (listen to the original) -- and he gradually got it back.

oops, Larry started to introduce "What is Hip?" At least the rest of the guys saved him from saying it!! Great video thought!!!

If you have never heard TOP before and you didn't get what they're up to then I could understand why the tempo COULD be a problem because lets face it...if any of us where to go on a gig and play with the tempo like these guys we'd be fired. However, this is something they do (and very, very well) from an artistic point of view its not right or wrong. They're always glued to each other when the tempo does move and they listen so closely to each other that the change seems effortless.

TOP needs a new drummer? HUH? Yes Garibaldi does push the tempo on some songs - this one included - but I guarantee you that it's on purpose. The man is like a funky metronome!

Well, shoot, Heta, if you want to play along with a click track or a metronome, feel free. Me personally, I like live music because it _does_ breathe. Sometimes it takes a measure or two to find just the right beat/rhythm. If you don't like it, go buy the CDs and, as the band would say, knock yourself out. DG has probably forgotten more than I'll ever know about performance. (all of the above is strictly the opinion of buttpie.)

What 'frontdesk99' said was coming from a one sided point of view and hopefully he's learnt that time doesnt always have to be mechanical and so strict, and everyone else should just chill out and listen to the music because it's a little boring hearing people fight over music when it's supposed to bring people together and minimise ego's. Simple.

saying that TOP needs a new drummer is like saying U2 needs a new singer. it makes no sense

@Frontdesk99 It takes either a brave or ignorant man to criticize DAVE GARIBALDI's drumming! Yeah, this track 'breathed' a little in it's time keeping because.... IT'S SUPPOSED TO!! T.O.P. is organic funk music played by humans who have the abilitiy to play with the downbeat. You're probably so used to listening to music recorded with click tracks and drum machines that you've forgotten or never knew how real music CAN sound when played by masters. Is it a mistake or is it something beautiful?

First of all, it's SOUL, not SOULD.
Secondly, these guys need a new drummer. They start WAY too slow, speed up, slow down like a snail in drying concrete with every break, speed back up again... man that's bad.
