Nice video. It can be clearly seen the variable resistance effect in hot wire bulbs. The current input at the bulb drops noticeably as the measured voltage approaches 230V, in a surprising way to me. Less than 0.15A at 230V is not even 35W, I wonder if that is a 40W rated bulb (?). Concerning the fan thing, I doubt the module will last long driving such a load, as it is inductive. In the past I used a couple of these modules to control a small multitool (a “dremel” type machine), only to learn these thyristor based regulators can't cope with such a thing for long (inductive load harmonics triggering the triac when voltage waveform not in zero, I was told).
in addition to the knob that regulates the power, there is also a small blue screw trimmer. Can you tell what it is for? if we can act with the hunter on that little blue trimmer? what is it for?
Thank you very much for your demonstration, I've already bought and installed one, I took a power socket along with electric cord with heavy duty plug, so I could use my power tools easily, but although all the above mentioned items are tightly connected and isolated from end to end, and I didn't see any arching, I still hear buzzing sound coming from the voltage controller/regulator, my question is, is this normal, and safe, or the buzzing sound indicating a hazard/risk, please do let me know Thanks again
I have seen so many different wirings of this same speed controller, does it matter which terminal the live and neutral wires are connected to? I have seen it - LNNL, NLLN, and LNLN ! Confused! 😕
Only the input and output connections of this module must be taken into account.. and the arrangement between the live and neutral wires does not matter because it is AC voltage.
Great music by the way. I have a question. How would you connect an illuminated rocker switch with this to control a fan. Normally the switch would be on the hot side with the 3rd terminal connected to neutral. But will the light on the switch still work when the fan is at low speed or will it work at all? How exactly would you wire it?
I see in this circuit capacitor number is 104j630 mention but find a circuit diagram from internet there is mention 400v capacitor. If my capacitor is damage then which capacitor I buy 104j400v or 104j630? Please answer me.
Nice thanks. I received one but does not lower or dim anything. Is the same voltage from line to line out. Is the Triac burned? I want it for a small 24 Dc motor and a small saw disk to reduce speed. I also checked it is up to 30A as I use a 24V 15 amps power source. Please answer me if you can. Bye , good luck from south america.
@@LEQSBeaprofessional Thanks. Let me update. I was lowering voltage from AC to DC, that was the problem. As soon as I thought of that I applied the potentiometer to my home vacuum and worked perfectly, from OFF to full speed.
@LEQS - Be a professional OK, if you connect a motor that turns at 3500 rpm with a power of one horsepower, when using the Dimmer and you turn it at about 1500 rpm, that motor always has that horsepower at that velocity? That is my question.
@@waltervaldivia2399 According to the TRIAC’s work theory, as it cuts the current, so it controls the load current and thus the power which controlled by the voltage applied to the TRIAC gate, which depends on the charging time of the capacitor through the variable resistance. In this circuit use one 100 ohm resistance which is 5 color ban between 2 capacitors. But I know that how much watt this resistance? Because I have 100 ohm, power rating 0.25watt and maximum current 50mA and same as 5 color. Can I use this in this circuit?

My regulator is broken, the potentiometer does not work but it is correct, it shows me the same voltage 220v at the input and output. What could be the problem? Please help
I think the reason is the capacitor connected to the TRIAC gate via Diac because the TRIAC gate controls the load current by the voltage applied to it which depends on the charging time of that capacitor through the variable resistance. So check this capacitor firstly. If the problem is not resolved, check the TRIAC.

According to the datasheet of this module the Input Voltage: 220V & maximum power 2000W, MAX 8A, but you must be careful whether the heating element can work on a small volt or different voltages, or will this heater be damaged ... You must refer to the technical specifications of the heating element.

is it possible to input 12v dc instead of 220v for controlling 12v fans?

This circuit operates on the following data only :
• Input Voltage: 220V
• Maximum Power: 2000W
• Adjustable Voltage: 50-220V AC
for AC voltage only

I think that if you stand on an isolated floor, the tester will not light and it is better to use a Voltmeter to make sure of it
