Our rocky start to Van Life New Zealand || Christchurch, New Zealand

- After months of planning and budget allocation, we made it to New Zealand to begin van life on the South Island for 16 days. Things started out a tad unexpectedly but were well worth it to be able to surround ourselves with the majestic beauty of New Zealand right outside of our sliding van door. This is our experience.

Love the idea of the IG naming contest for increasing involvement. You so crazy, and I love any kind of Labrador retriever. I am jealous of this trip for sure. We will have 6 weeks there, but not until late 2027. On a separate note, I hope you like our new name. We rebranded to better match our geeky side and our mission to travel around the world promoting nature, culture, history and food. Thanks for all your inspiration and support. - Bear
Jucy vans are renowned for going 40 under the speed limit along haast pass.
Haha for what it's worth I always pull over if I can!
@@onebagoneworld You're one of the good ones then.
I just finished up a month long trip around the north island in a Jucy Condo Campervan. Was a great vehicle, except for the water leaks. The first van leaked around the fan vent on the roof. Then it started leaking, and by leaking, I mean POURING in over the top of the side sliding door. Jucy replaced the van for us, which again started leaking i.e. POURING in over the side sliding door. So yeah, other then the leaks, the wet mattress, wet bedding that we had to deal with, it was great.
Haha that sounds ROUGH. Glad you still enjoyed it though! It guess it just goes to show how great New Zealand is if it's still enjoyable with all that
For me i have this toyota van and it works i think you're one is just the company that don't do the best for the van if you check other company's you will find the same van but in a good shape .enjoy friends be safe have fun
Great vid! What month were camping? We're planning a trip in the summer (February) and wondering if it will be cold as well??
We went down there end of January to early February and it was HOT in the van most days but got very cold at night, especially in the Mt. Cook area. Definitely find a way to stay cool during the day and then bring something warm for night time unless your van comes with a heater!
how much was the van to rent? i hired a britz van 2 years ago for about a $100 per day, now it seems like they are 4 times the price
Oh yeah 3x that? I think we were around $350 us a day! Absolutely insane.
@@onebagoneworld it's crazy!! Awesome vid buy the way 👌
Ive booked a Jucy Van for the month of December 2023 and it cost 6K.
@@kiwionarope so expensive these days 😢
During Covid, Campervans were going for around $1800 for a month @@929cosmodude
Broken fridge lock, broken sun shade. You guys should've went back to the Company and demanded a change of vehicle.
Haha we were on a tight schedule and I don't think we realized the fridge until day two :(
moral of the story dont use juicy, there are plenty of companys here in nz
There really are so many, it was quite overwhelming to pick from. Would love to know other's recommendations too!
Just don't pick vans all tourist vans and campers have a habit of traveling 40 under and my god its annoying.
Nescafe aka the best cafe!! Amiright?!
Nestle bad... But am half Swiss... Does not compute...
Nescafe is rubbish, it's not real coffee.
Iceland is too dang cold for Skeeters, the sandflies in NZ you no doubt met, nasty little creatures.
They were SO terrible and made us thankful we don't have them at home.
Put a pair of socks on
