I've owned an Explore 3 for a month now; still learning the basics. After failing three times to transfer a smart vinyl label containing some text and lines, I ran across this channel. When you mentioned "strong grip" transfer tape, I ran out and got some. It really saved the day. Thank you.

Great video please confirm the length and width you used for your text,i struggle with getting the perfect size for water bottles and the size you used looks like a perfect size x
I am not sure the exact size of the decal for these specific bottles but I always use a measuring tape to measure the space on the bottle before cutting it out.
We do not! When you use permanent vinyl, it's meant to last 2-3 years. It's pretty tough stuff. It's also recommended to hand wash only. We have seen a lot of people use products like modpodge or water-based polyurethane for sealing, so you could do a search for that. However, we can't say from experience...you should be just fine with permanent vinyl. Best of luck! :)
spray some home made vinyl application fluid to slide it around, then get a hair dryer or heat gun to form the vinyl. You can make some fluid with a travel size johnson and johnson baby shampoo and a spray bottle.
This water bottle (even without the vinyl on it) had instructions to hand wash only so this will have to be hand wash only. It's recommended to hand wash your vinyl projects to be safe. However, I've run plenty of mugs with vinyl through my dishwasher and they've turned out just fine. Just know it MIGHT peel up- so if you want to make sure your design stays, then hand wash! Or if you're feeling a little risky, you may be okay with the dishwasher (but just knows there's a chance of it peeling up/moving). I would definitely wait 24-48 hours after making it before putting it into the dishwasher if you do go that route. :) hope that helps!
@@brittz_876 I have never had that issue but I could see how that would happen. Was it strong grip? Maybe the roll you got had a bit of extra stickiness.
Loved your video and cute water bottle decals. I'm looking into buying a cricut joy and wanted to know if I can add my own fonts or do we need to use the fonts on the programme? Thank you
how do you go about doing this for an actual image instead of making a cut out of vinyl as i need to make some for custom shoes but need an actual image thanks :D
Hello, quick question... if you were doing a series of names in vinyl to be applied somewhere, how would you maintain uniformity? for example the name shannon is a lot longer than the name lily and when using the width it distorts the font for the name lily, however if i use the font size at say 20, Lily is too small to be visible. Im stuck! Would appreciate any help :)
I would probably wait and save up for the Air 2. Right now it's about $55 more on our website- it's just going to allow you to do a lot more than the Joy! The Joy can make vinyl decals like you see in the video here, but the Air 2 will allow you to cut a lot more materials and open up for possibilities for products to sell in your business.
I would try the desktop! I have never uploaded SVG files on an iPad so I can't say for sure. I am sure if you do a quick search on UA-cam or Google, someone has information there!
@@Craft-e-Corner hi yes it does. I was confused as I was given some vinyl but the white backing isn't on there. I presume I just need to bin that now 🙈 I have ordered more with the backing on so x
@@srwithey I understand why you would be confused then! Yes, order some new stuff and then you will be able to see what it should look like. I wonder if what you have is HTV? Does one side seem shiny and the other dull?
I'm struggling to get the right size to personal water bottles. Would I see more on my lap top. Than on my phone. Wish mine turn out like yours I've gone through so much vynal trying get right size font..HELP
It's not recommended from Cricut to put Smart Vinyl in the dishwasher. However, I will say from my own personal experience that if you let the vinyl adhere for 48 hours, I've had really good luck with still running projects through the dishwasher. Just know that you may run the risk of it peeling up, so it's suggested to hand wash only!
You can make this project with an Air 2! But you can't use the Smart Vinyl without a cutting mat on your Air 2. You would just need regular vinyl or place the Smart Vinyl on a cutting mat. I hope that helps! 🙃
Smart Vinyl has a thicker backing so that it does not need to be cut on a cutting mat. The regular vinyl needs to be placed on a cutting mat to be cut by the Cricut.
This is Cricut Smart Vinyl! We used permanent in black and also a shimmer vinyl. Check out our selection of Smart Vinyl here: www.craft-e-corner.com/collections/cricut-vinyl
You'll want to use iron-on (sometimes known as heat transfer vinyl) for clothes! It's vinyl that is applied with heat, so you'll need an iron, EasyPress or heat press.
I bought a joy. I have spent almost a thousand dollars ton materials. For the last two days I have ruined 200 worth of materials. I can't make anything with this mess... I cant return it either. I give up. I wouldn't recommend any of it
I just bought mine. I am not in love with Cricut vinyl. I have not used the smart vinyl yet but I do know you can use regular vinyl. See if you can try and sell you Cricut vinyl to someone who likes using it. The one thing I can tell you is if you use regular vinyl without a mat, it will not work well with intricate designs but something like this, it work great.
Smart Vinyl from Cricut is a total ripoff as when you design anything and select Smart Vinyl it automatically uses up the first 2.5cm of the vinyl on design space........As you can see at 2:27 in the video where the offcuts are.

I never could get anything to iron on or stick to anything. It was all crap
The Smart Vinyl is awesome!
It really is! Don't you love cutting without a mat?! It's awesome!
Craft-e-Corner.com yes! I hate the mats lol
Can this smart vinyl be used on the cricut explore air 2??
Can smart Vinyl work on Plastic Tumblers? ( can I type out other sayings for this also?
Do you have to add a top coat like mod poge or something to prevent the vinyl from coming off when washing

I love it 😍 . Only one question, will it get removed when adding it to the dish washer????

There is also mod pog for dishwasher safe stuff
Is your vinyl sticky after applying it to the bottle?
The top of the vinyl is not sticky, just the bottom that sticks to the bottle.
@@Craft-e-Corner I used the Cricut smart vinyl then the Cricut transfer tape. So I’m wondering if it’s the transfer tape that caused the stickiness.
@@brittz_876 I have never had that issue but I could see how that would happen. Was it strong grip? Maybe the roll you got had a bit of extra stickiness.
Maybe I missed this but when you did the shimmer, why not layer on the strong transfer tape? Is it too strong for the regular vinyl?
I actually didn't use shimmer vinyl. This was just regular smart vinyl.

You can add fonts to the program! I love finding all sort of fonts to be able to cut out. It's great for that!

One idea is to try and keep uniformity through the placement of the design instead of the size of the letters.
I want the air but I don't have much money. Is the joy good for business in making stickers for glass/ plastic water bottles?

I like this a lot. Is it easy to peel off the water bottle ?
As long as you handwash and let the vinyl cure for 48 hours before washing, you will be good! 🙃
Can this smart vinyl be used on the cricut explore air 2??
You cannot cut it without a mat like the Joy can, but you could place it on a cutting mat and cut it that way!

You would want to wash these by hand and not in the dishwasher
Can I use any other brand vinyl with the joy cricut? Like the 651 vinyl

You can use a computer, phone or tablet! Just needs to have Bluetooth 😍
I have a problem peeling it off the transfer paper...ruin it everytime! Very frustrating!

We used Adobe Illustrator to make this design, saved it as an SVG and then uploaded it to Design Space!
You don’t have to put a reflective tape over the letters?
I'm not sure I understand your question! Do you mean something to protect the vinyl once it's applied to the water bottles?
@@Craft-e-Corner yes. I did mine and it peeled off a little. But I thought there was a product that I saw to put over the vinyl.
