- Join Amber as she hunts for pasque flowers in Custer State Park on the Round Up Trails! The Bison trail and the Red Dog trail make up the two loops of the Round Up Trails. These short trails wind through the trees before giving you a view of the surrounding prairie. We get a good view of the bison herd from this trail!

Bison Center has been open all winter. We’ve stopped in multiple times the last several months. Always lovely to speak with Ann and the other volunteers and CSP employees. Maybe limited hours or closed certain days. We were just in there yesterday too as well as week before.
Hmm..I must have been there on an off day. I think it was a Tuesday or Wednesday when I was there so makes sense they might be closed during the week this time of year. I definitely want to go check them out sometime when they’re open though!

I sent this on to my neighbor here in NW Washington State, because he was born an raised in Custer with mom still living there. I bet I can answer questions of this area from a local boy!

Got any questions, I'll pass them on to my neighbor raised in Custer. I got a call from him other night. All he could say was, broken bones, I need hospital now! I drove to an found him in middle of 50 acres, laying on ground unable to talk, labored breathing. He could not tell me what bones were broke, so I couldn't move him. I called our new cop neighbor an 911. When cop showed up, I went to street directing 2 ambulances. He was emergency flown by helicopter to Harbor View hospital where extreme surgery is preformed. After ambulances left I locked up all his equipment. Rescuing this neighbor made 61 on my rescue list. I saw him yesterday an he is now much improved!
I really enjoy your videos and they're giving me great ideas for new trails to hike! I hiked the Bison and Red Dog loop a couple of weeks ago, and you're right, they're less than a mile. I talked to a ranger at the Visitor Center and he said apparently they ran out of time and money last year when making the trail. So maybe they'll lengthen it soon.

Thanks, sure hope they will make that trail longer. For true hikers, it's a waste of time, but nice and easy for visitors to give them a taste if hike at CSP.
Ahhhh yes, buffalo or bison. Happy you are calling them bison, it'll take a while to always refer to them a bison all the time.
It’s difficult to get used to after calling them Buffalo for my entire life!
