- The rumors of a massive NIL offer to NiJaree Canady were legit. She's headed to Texas Tech and won't be in Norman. What does/doesn't it mean for Oklahoma? Let's talk about it! #transferportal #oklahoma #sooners #Softball
Come on OU fans! Why be so hard on her. Not a team player? How many games did she pich for Stanford. Even if TTU gets to a super regional, it will be a serious building block. Then, get a couple more transfers next year and maybe they make it to OKC.
Have some confidence and class by not putting Canaday down for doing what's best for her family financially.
If Canady is getting an Adidas deal to be featured with Patrick Mahomes, which is what I am hearing, that's pretty cool - lots of name recognition & $. I'm glad she didn't end up at Texas, Florida, or FSU. I also think she would have been a distraction to the team is she had landed a very high $ deal at Oklahoma. Winning championships takes some major synergy. Gasso knows how to achieve this year in & year out. I really like the team she has put together.😎
With no high paying pro league I can't blame a kid for taking the money, although future endorsements could be better at a powerhouse program. The good news is she's not going to Florida, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, that could be a contender we will have to deal with (I think) at the WCWS.

I think Patty knew weeks ago she wasn't coming. That's the whole reason they got landry. And I think texas tech will be lucky just to get to the super regionals
I really thought that too with that last go boomer and the link, I think patty wasn't up for anyone wanting that kind of money. She wants people who have a certain kind of quality and I think candy has shown that she doesn't have that. But the ESPN article canady didn't even mention OU as a contender.
I have been telling everyone she’s not a good fit for OU and she just proved it. Canaday is not a team player and once again, she’s the only good pitcher on a mediocre team going nowhere.
This absolutely makes Texas Tech a National title contender. You take most of Louisiana’s big contributors and add Canady?
Also I kinda think it’s a let down if TTU aren’t at the WCWS next year. Their roster looks stronger than what Stanford’s has outside of Canady. And she has A LOT of pitching depth behind her to keep her ready for postseason

I often thought that if Canady came aboard, she might limit the chances for some of the new pitching recruits to become All-Americans. So, perhaps it's for the best that she chose a different path. BOOMER.

@@zachpangus7584 for sure but she needs to make it last and it won’t. There is no aftermarket for softball actually. Her pitching with TEAM USA in Japan says she needs a lot of work for the international stage. She gave up an Ivy league education for a million dollars and a small Town in the panhandle of Texas. At least it’s not in Kansas right. Make it make sense.

Good for Canady. This may be her one chance to cash-in, and I think she made the smart play in taking advantage of it. Texas Tech should be pretty good. They just got the Louisiana coach, added a ton of transfers from the Ragin Cajuns, and signed a high ranked fresh class. They could very well make the WCWS. The offense probably is better than what Stanford had or at least close.

Good after team USA sent her packing after Japan hammered her both games and put maxwell on the cup team and other pichers canady around 4th or 5th best
One game she lost was not as bad as it looked, multiple errors on the defense and at least 2 runners that left the base early stealing, all could have ended innings before runs scored.

I really don’t think we’re going to see more player with comparable NIL numbers to Canady. It may happen again, but it won’t be the norm. I am 0% worried about OU being outbid in the future. The pitch of winning titles stays the same.

How can you blame her? TTU might start building something. I played baseball at Seminole Jr. College in the 70's. My teammates and I started a program under our coach, Lloyd Simmons. They won 8 games before we got there. In our second year we won 52 and we're ranked 5th. It can be done. Her salary in pro softball will be relatively low, so give her credit for doing exactly what you would have done
