I'm on my 15th try and still being asked to do it again. I've done it just under 2 minutes and a little over 2 minutes and no matter what it doesn't work. When I tried yesterday it worked on the first try but for some reason or another when I went in my profile to look there were 2 accounts for the same business. No clue how that happened so I simply deleted them both and started all over today from scratch and this is where I am at trying over and over again with same results. So frustrating.
Yikes. That sounds like a nightmare. I found that I couldn't get it to work at the 2 minute mark. I had to get it under 1 minute for mine to take. Another suggestion is to use an older device that records video in lower quality. This will make for a smaller filesize, and may be more likely to work.

Currently have Boomerangs By Vic and was trying to add Vic's Self Storage. They said I would have to delete Boomerangs By Vic. I was reluctant at first but I am slowly transitioning out of my boomerang business so I went ahead and deleted it. They said once it does not show on google maps they will then approve Vic's Self Storage. Still not sure if this is why my uploads didn't work but I am at least one step closer.
I had a similar experience too. I had to walk fast outside from the street view, show other businesses, show the building and address, RUN up the stairs to the door with the same signage, unlock the door, and show business documents related to the business. ✅ Verified!
How can we do that if we have an online business and home office in an area with no businesses around and in nature ? Do they publish this video on the google business profile ?

The problem is my apartment is on the 6th floor, and there is no way to get upstairs so quickly. My driveway is 700 feet long. Mailbox with the number is at the road, no street signs, no business or homes nearby except mine. How can I record the street, waiting to take an elevator, get into the elevator to a certain floor, then go down the end of the hallway into the unit all in one continuous video? Yep. This is a common problem. If video verification is your only option, and you can’t instantly transport yourself from the street to your office door, then you should contact Google support and request a “live verification call”. This will be a video call where show all the same things via a live call with a Google support agent. Use this contact form: support.google.com/business/gethelp
This was super informative! I ran into issues with a Google My Business Profile and accidentally got the business unverified. I have been emailing back and forth with google support to no avail. The only issue that remains for me (aside from verifying the account with video) is my service area is the whole of the United States, which does not coincide with the Google guidelines. Whitespark does not see customers in person. Google is happy to accept remote only businesses. They are called service area businesses (SABs). Think of all the plumbers, electricians, furnace repair, painters, etc businesses out there that are home based and don’t have an office. In these cases, you are required to not show your address on your google business profile.

I own my own telehealth nutrition counseling business and when I emailed Google business profile support, they responded that I do not fit the requirements of a google service area business since I only visit patients virtually via zoom or telephone. However, they still went on to explain how to set up a service area business profile. Needless to say, it was confusing, see below. "Also, doing business virtually doesn't count to be a "Service area Business", as per Google Policy Guidelines, If your business doesn't have a store to receive customers and you provide a service at your customers address; you'll need to edit your profile to a service area, to comply with our guidelines. Or I’ve been trying to register my biz for 3 years lol. It’s to a point now where it’s not even worth it. I’ve got a small business, 3 employees total including me. I don’t use any software and I own all of my equipment outright so I don’t have bills to prove with my company name or my name on them. Run my biz out of my home. I’m pretty convinced that if you run a small business from home and you want it to stay small but busy then google isn’t going to help you.
If you have a business license, phone bill, tax documents, or anything like that, plus a vehicle with your logo on it, that should be enough to get verified.

Oh man. I totally understand your frustration. Do you have a room with a locked door at the gym? If not, could you ask the gym if you could just temporarily use a room for a day to record your video? Slap a sign on the door. That might work.

Hilariously frustrating! What's the score for a business making its base in a business centre? Their own offices and their own staff. even though there is a reception area with the business centre's staff on the desk. My client's office is private and locked against wanderers ;-) Just about to repeat this process. And yes please - do let me have a copy of that checklist.
Business centers are no problem. If you have signage and a locked door you can open, then you're good to go. Start your video from the street, run like hell to get to your office in time, then show the signage on your door and you unlocking it. I have completed the verification video several times now. A couple of those times the video is uploaded, I get to the final screen telling me it can take up to 5 days, but I do not get an email confirmation that it is being verified, and my google business profile still shows as unverified and prompts me to submit a video. How do I know my video is under review? Is there a glitch here? This happened before and nothing ever came of it. I ended up resubmitting.

Update: I submitted a google support ticket, which required me to include all of the same documentation that is needed for verification. I received an email that suggested I do a Live Video Verification. I went to do that, but when I followed their steps, the only verification method I had was the same one I always had: Video Verification. I did yet another verification (took 3 attempts to successfully upload as the video needed to be around 1 minute. 1:30 was too long/big of a file), and I replied back to the ticket to let them know that the option they provided was not made available to me. I also expressed my frustration at being given the same verification method and no feedback as to what I was doing wrong. In less than 24 hours, I received a noticed that my business had been verified. 🤷 Only took me 5 months, lol!
That's exactly what I did about 4 months ago so I can guarantee it works. It only took me 2 attempts but the exact same scenario. Also You can tap into the office WIFI I had a client do that after many failed attempts. Car magnets, and sign from Staples 4x3 on the wall behind the desk, print a few business cards spread them on the desk, the website on the laptop, be excited about your new office. That was a slam dunk for me. Yes show the door locked.

I am running into the same exact problem with a client that is a remodeling company. But they also have a duplicate listing. I have access to both and have tried the video verification once and did not work. They have it set up to show their address but it's a showroom that also doubles as storage for all of their tools and such. Also, their local citations have an old address, and we need to re verify it with the new address. Do we submit another video but with more info like marketing materials, business cards, opening the shop door, etc. Or do we remove the duplicate listing and try to re verify? We picked up a mess that someone else left our client before us 😅

Yes, you can definitely create a Google Business Profile for a towing business. As a service area business, you should hide your address on your profile, though.

Side note, I run a Personal training business in NL (Europe), and the gym I give training in is not my gym. So it is officially not staffed all the time, people have to make an appointment with me via the website. Also my official adress (tax/goverment) is my home adress and is not the gym location. I tried to upload my video, but it got denied (I forgot to unlock the entrance). Is it important for my situation to show the address? Also do you have other tips if your are looking at my situation? Sounds like you need to hide your address on Google to be eligible. Technically, the gym location is not your business’s registered address, even though that’s where you serve your clients. The only way you could use this address would be if you your own rented space with signage and a locked door at the gym. Otherwise, you may need to use your home address to verify and hide your address in your Google business profile. Even if you do have an office at the gym, you’d probably still need to hide your address to be eligible because it wouldn’t be staffed during your opening hours. You could try starting on the outside of your apartment door. Skip the street part. Might work.

This seems like mission impossible. I wish there was pause button. I'm in an office building. How can I record the street, waiting to take an elevator, get into the elevator to a certain floor, then go down the end of the hallway into the unit all in one continuous video? Its not enough time and the video would get cut off by the time i enter the building. How would you go about his? Any recommendations would be super helpful, thank you
Yep. This is a common problem. If video verification is your only option, and you can’t instantly transport yourself from the street to your office door, then you should contact Google support and request a “live verification call”. This will be a video call where show all the same things via a live call with a Google support agent. Use this contact form: support.google.com/business/gethelp

This was super informative! I ran into issues with a Google My Business Profile and accidentally got the business unverified. I have been emailing back and forth with google support to no avail. The only issue that remains for me (aside from verifying the account with video) is my service area is the whole of the United States, which does not coincide with the Google guidelines. We actually do travel all across the US to our clients, so I'm wondering if you have any insight on that particular issue? Thanks for the great video and the handy checklist!

Does whitespark see people in person or only via video or phone? My understanding is that Google won't accept businesses who are remote only?
Whitespark does not see customers in person. Google is happy to accept remote only businesses. They are called service area businesses (SABs). Think of all the plumbers, electricians, furnace repair, painters, etc businesses out there that are home based and don’t have an office. In these cases, you are required to not show your address on your google business profile.

I own my own telehealth nutrition counseling business and when I emailed Google business profile support, they responded that I do not fit the requirements of a google service area business since I only visit patients virtually via zoom or telephone. However, they still went on to explain how to set up a service area business profile. Needless to say, it was confusing, see below.
"Also, doing business virtually doesn't count to be a "Service area Business", as per Google Policy Guidelines, If your business doesn't have a store to receive customers and you provide a service at your customers address; you'll need to edit your profile to a service area, to comply with our guidelines. In other words your address won't show; instead, the area you choose will show as ‘red’ on Maps."

Or I’ve been trying to register my biz for 3 years lol. It’s to a point now where it’s not even worth it. I’ve got a small business, 3 employees total including me. I don’t use any software and I own all of my equipment outright so I don’t have bills to prove with my company name or my name on them. Run my biz out of my home. I’m pretty convinced that if you run a small business from home and you want it to stay small but busy then google isn’t going to help you.
If you have a business license, phone bill, tax documents, or anything like that, plus a vehicle with your logo on it, that should be enough to get verified.

Oh man. I totally understand your frustration. Do you have a room with a locked door at the gym? If not, could you ask the gym if you could just temporarily use a room for a day to record your video? Slap a sign on the door. That might work.

Is it mandatory to speak during Google Business profile video verification, or is just capturing the video sufficient?
This is a great question. One I have wondered as well. I have heard that Google doesn’t care about the narration, but I like to narrate just in case a human looks at the video. I want to be able to explain what I’m showing.

I have a question Darren, I want to make a google business profile, but I don't have a office or a physical location, so for the business video, what am i suppose to do?
You need to use the location of wherever the business is registered. In my case, I used my home address.
Or, if you operate a service area business, you can show yourself opening and starting a branded vehicle instead of a physical location.

Hilariously frustrating! What's the score for a business making its base in a business centre? Their own offices and their own staff. even though there is a reception area with the business centre's staff on the desk. My client's office is private and locked against wanderers ;-) Just about to repeat this process. And yes please - do let me have a copy of that checklist.
Business centers are no problem. If you have signage and a locked door you can open, then you're good to go. Start your video from the street, run like hell to get to your office in time, then show the signage on your door and you unlocking it. I have completed the verification video several times now. A couple of those times the video is uploaded, I get to the final screen telling me it can take up to 5 days, but I do not get an email confirmation that it is being verified, and my google business profile still shows as unverified and prompts me to submit a video. How do I know my video is under review? Is there a glitch here? This happened before and nothing ever came of it. I ended up resubmitting.
There is a glitch. It’s very annoying. Try contacting Google and requesting a live video verification.
@@WhitesparkCa Thank you. Yeah, after 5 submissions or so, and never getting any feedback on why it isn't accepted, it was making me want to give up, but contacting support was my last step.
Update: I submitted a google support ticket, which required me to include all of the same documentation that is needed for verification. I received an email that suggested I do a Live Video Verification. I went to do that, but when I followed their steps, the only verification method I had was the same one I always had: Video Verification. I did yet another verification (took 3 attempts to successfully upload as the video needed to be around 1 minute. 1:30 was too long/big of a file), and I replied back to the ticket to let them know that the option they provided was not made available to me. I also expressed my frustration at being given the same verification method and no feedback as to what I was doing wrong. In less than 24 hours, I received a noticed that my business had been verified. 🤷 Only took me 5 months, lol!

That's exactly what I did about 4 months ago so I can guarantee it works. It only took me 2 attempts but the exact same scenario. Also You can tap into the office WIFI I had a client do that after many failed attempts. Car magnets, and sign from Staples 4x3 on the wall behind the desk, print a few business cards spread them on the desk, the website on the laptop, be excited about your new office. That was a slam dunk for me. Yes show the door locked.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons we got unverified. Our developers set a huge and unusual service area. Tripped some flags at Google. I have been trying to fix it, but still pending!

I find your comment of showing documents strange because for me ( spain, europe) they stated NOT to show sensitive business documents. It is a totally stupid system with the 2 minute rule after 8 rejections I just told them to go F... them...elves. Liked the postcard way a lot better

I am running into the same exact problem with a client that is a remodeling company. But they also have a duplicate listing.
I have access to both and have tried the video verification once and did not work.
They have it set up to show their address but it's a showroom that also doubles as storage for all of their tools and such.
Also, their local citations have an old address, and we need to re verify it with the new address.
Do we submit another video but with more info like marketing materials, business cards, opening the shop door, etc.
Or do we remove the duplicate listing and try to re verify?
We picked up a mess that someone else left our client before us 😅

I am a new builder, set up a business, I dont have a branded vehicle, I drive a standard car with my tools in it to my jobs, how can I show google during the verification video that I am running and operating the business, I have uploaded multiple videos, showing the street sign, going into my house, showing utility bills, showing a receipt that have registered the company, logging into my business email, and logging into the bussines facebook page and showing tools in my garage. but the I am not getting verified, can you give me some pointers what I can try

Yes, you can definitely create a Google Business Profile for a towing business. As a service area business, you should hide your address on your profile, though.

Hi Darren, thanks for your video. It helped A LOT! I am interested in your checklist. Could you send it to me? Side note, I run a Personal training business in NL (Europe), and the gym I give training in is not my gym. So it is officially not staffed all the time, people have to make an appointment with me via the website. Also my official adress (tax/goverment) is my home adress and is not the gym location. I tried to upload my video, but it got denied (I forgot to unlock the entrance). Is it important for my situation to show the address? Also do you have other tips if your are looking at my situation? Sounds like you need to hide your address on Google to be eligible. Technically, the gym location is not your business’s registered address, even though that’s where you serve your clients. The only way you could use this address would be if you your own rented space with signage and a locked door at the gym. Otherwise, you may need to use your home address to verify and hide your address in your Google business profile. Even if you do have an office at the gym, you’d probably still need to hide your address to be eligible because it wouldn’t be staffed during your opening hours.
