I think people need to consider other countries before choosing the UK, UK is not for the faint hearted.
No country is easy love, it’s all about adapting
Many of our people do minimum wage menial jobs in d UK.
It's too cold for me. Plus no work life balance. Money doesn't grow on trees but most people don't realise how hard you have to work for it till you get here.
@@priscillabaileymusic totally agree with the work life balance thing
@@priscillabaileymusic . Oh No. don’t tell Nigerians that , they will abuse you and ask you to comeback home , I don’t discourage them anymore, in fact I encourage them to come, after all it’s not me that suffers .
Scotland, Wales , major cities and some part of the UK have their own accents. Its not unusual or strange. In Nigeria, we have three main languages. Each language has its own accent and dialect. So, we can't say someone isn't properly speaking their language as it is influenced by their hometown dialect and accent.
I still don't understand how someone will arrive in the UK almost ready to give birth, and then expect someone else to house them? That would be very expensive in terms of the energy costs of having a baby in the house in addition to the new mother. How would the new mother attend school since children are not allowed into the classroom? Who will look after the baby? And how will she find a job or go out to view rental properties when there's no one to look after the baby? That is why people switch off their phones and ghost people. I think that a lot of people have no idea how difficult life is in the UK.
You don't know the whole story. The cousin who promised to house her before she left Nigeria nko? Why did she suddenly change her mind? She might not even be going for school reasons. So you don't know the whole story biko.
@@estheroluwadara8529 It is a known fact that some Nigerians don't know how to directly communicate their true feelings. So, some people pretend that they will help and then ghost or avoid the newcomers. The message here is to make your own solid plans and not just depend on other people's words to avoid disappointment. By the way, how can you say that the person is not coming to school? If they're coming on work visa employers will not accept a heavily pregnant lady. If they are coming to join their spouses, then the spouse would already have an accommodation
@@diplomatdiplomat2800
Hmm, about the schooling.. you do have a point, and I agree with you.
But on the first issue you mentioned, the solid plan you refered to, cannot be outside staying with someone else for a while, before getting her own accommodation.
I mean, whatever solid plans anyone has, they will still have to stay with someone; unless, by solid plans, you mean people should have gotten an accommodation already paid for before they land, which we all know the chances of that happening are slim to none.
My point is this, it is totally wrong for Nigerians in the UK to promise to help, only for the individual to ghost the person after he/she is already halfway in the air. If you don't have the capacity to help, say so. It's not a problem at all. I'll look elsewhere and it doesn't affect our relationship in any way, we'll still be cool. You will still have to depend on people's help and their word when you land at first. I think one key take away from this discussion is to know the kind of people we'll contact for help when it's our turn.. don't turn to people who are likely to ghost you when you land. Look for solid people and make solid plans in @Diplomat Diplomat's own word. Have a great weekend comrade. Salute!
Let’s not conclude tho, she’s an adult and i believe she had no choice
@@estheroluwadara8529 they always change their mind when you arrive.
Who no go, no know.
I like your content. This is the kind of content people coming in from Nigeria should watch before coming in. Ideally people coming into a country should learn about the current economic situation of the country they are moving to.(housing crisis, inflation, and the likes). This kind of content is the real deal. Please kindly do more of this. Winny and Philip actually hit the nail on the head. When I came into the UK, the first job I got was a 4 hour journey to where I was staying back then. Kudos. Please keep it up.
What I noticed about your Channel is that it’s very educative💯
Awwwn thanks so much
@@MelissaOti ☺️
I think a lot of people are NOT prepared for what they would go through before arriving in the UK. Your first 6 months can be hell if proper care is not taken, if you have families here encourage them NOT to lie to you. And let them tell you how exactly it really is here.
I live, school and work in Scotland.. At first it was difficult cos some of them mix Gaelic to their English which is Scottish people native language, but over time, it became clear and easy to understand. I love the Scottish accent 😊
Interesting 😊😊
Same
Do you guys have challenge with the food?
Thank you so much Malisa
You have given me hope is this journey
I pray next year I will be in Uk and I will navigate through this challenges 💪
All the best hun
Amen and me to
Bringing back memories. Helped someone I was introduced to through the church I was going to at the time with no where to stay for a few months and got burnt. They came with nothing and left with my back up laptop. Realised it was gone when they'd already left to find their next victim. It's the pictures that hurt the most. Barrawo lol
Awwww sorry
Awwwn sorry about your experience
@@MelissaOti Thank you jare..I like to think I'm a good judge of character so regretted ever putting myself in that position in the first place and beat myself up over it for a while but at the same time worked hard on not letting it put me off helping someone in need in a reasonable way sha.
@@pinkandglamuk Thank you jare.
I accommodated a young lady like me she started working with them agency like me which i introduced her to. Omo, she no won contribute to the house o and she is working i told her to take care of the electricity i will paying for my mortgage and co.She started sleeping out late, saying she was never in the house. So i told her to leave to go rent elsewhere by the end of the month she destroyed so many things in property before i even came back from work... i was very upset. I never had any bad intentions towards her. I guess i will keep to myself abeg no more
Wow! hope you got her arrested?
Oh dear! So sorry! But that's not fair na! Haba! Destroying things
I love the way you always make them comfortable before asking them questions 👏. The challenges most them are facing is accommodation, but the problem now is to get a trusted agent that can help you get an accommodation. And most of the university do promise to help you get an accommodation in other for you to settle well but with this video am having doubt about it. Now I think you should get a trusted agent that can help you with accommodation. Thanks for sharing this video
Hi dear, i talked about amber students in one of my videos. They can help you get accommodation from abroad as an international student.
@@MelissaOti how can I contact them
pls use this link to contact them. thanks amberstudent.com/

Thanks darling
Thank you so much Melissa ❤️😍 what I love the most about your channel is that it's educative 💖💯
Awwwn thanks
Nice content, that is good to learn about the struggles of the immigrant community. That is why when I started buying houses for let, I predominantly focussed on the African immigrant community as tenants as they do need a helping hand to settle down.
Thank you for offering support to our people. bless you
When u advise some people on how to prepare and save money before going abroad they will term u "enemy of progress" that u don't want them to come. So that is why they disregard all advice and come unprepared. When they come they face the harsh reality and realize that nobody send them there.
Thanks for your input hun
Y'all are talking about the weather😂, I deal with -48 in Canada everyday
I don’t know how you all manage in that country, it’s just too cold for me
When they switch off the heater, it means it's time for you to leave 😄
😂😂😂
Abi na😂
We in Scotland knows the drills we passing through but now it's nothing I'm chilled on the accent a wee bit.
Haha!! I feel you 😂
Interesting stories. The Scottish people will make you respond "yes" when asked your name. Thank you Melissa 😊
😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Winni is so beautiful 🥰
She’s stunning, I tell you
4 real !
Like you're always hitting the nail on the head. I worked for a UK client. And when it's fine for us to have a zoom meeting I just make sure my entire environment is quiet so I can concentrate and hear what he's saying. Then one day my husband was around and hears him something to me via WhatsApp call. After the call my husband was asking me all that the client said he couldn't understand anything he said. Even me moat times e just bi like this guy is just talking to himself not me o
Hahahaha I can relate😂
I love your personality. You have such a sweet disposition
Awwwn thanks
“Oh yeah, yeah yeah” dfkm! 😂😂😭😭
Thank you for this really appreciate God bless
Thanks hun
I enjoy watching your videos, very encouraging.
Thanks dear
I lived in Eaasterm Europe before coming to the UK, so the cold in UK is nothing to me.

Her accent is so beautiful, pure british accent 🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful content
Thanks very much
I'm surprised that nobody is mentioning the food. I'm living in Vietnam and it's been horrible 😢
The girl on glasses is content
Hahahah she’s good
But it's normal for abroad people to switch off heater naa even when they are not accommodating people. .OST of them manage heating bill. So the accommodating family might not have been malicious
Yeah but we kinda regulate it so it comes up when it’s very hot.
Most people in the USA are more accommodating than in the UK.
If u are planning to jakpa u better keep atleast 6months rent oooo.
wow! that’s insane chai!
Life itself is not all rosy so, why would anyone think that moving abroad would be? Is abroad heaven? 😅🤣
hahahah my dear 😂
God bless you jare

Are couples with kids allowed in shared apartments?

hello mrs melissa. i really hope you respond to this.
please i intend to move to the uk. as a dependant, i plan on working there for 2 years and then applying for a course as a student there but someone said i must come back to nigeria before i apply as a student. please what do you think is the right way.
No, you don’t need to return to Nigeria, except you want to go on the Tier-4 visa, but with your status as a dependant, you won’t need to go back to 9ja.
@@MelissaOti so are you saying it’s possible to apply for study even with your dependent visa??
@@bttdmmr6404 Very much possible. 100%… I did that and even have friends who studied whilst on dependant visas. The only con is that you won’t get the scholarships they allocate to international students on tier-4

Hi ma'am
God bless you for being so educative on your channel.
Please can a young widow with 3kids who wants to migrate through health care assistant route cope with the pay to take care of her kids??
In the UK?
Hi dear, its gonna be hard truth be told, especially with child care and bills, so please if you can add any family member to help but the sad truth is that everybody is busy here.
It would be so hard sis, especially if they’re still little. Where would you keep them while you’re away at work? It’s doable but it won’t be easy. How old are they?
@@MelissaOti my first daughter is 21 years,my second son is 5years and my last son is 3years.

Thanks sis
Exactly my sis😂😜 i luv going to buy my foodstuffs in an open market jor
Ogom you too like food like me oh..anyway I am here in Nigeria now and enjoying correct Nigerian foods.
Don't worry enough African stores to meet your akpu needs...
There are African food shops, locally and online. Many of us have been in the UK, eating mostly African food. No need to miss anything because everything you want is here.
