its good to see a man who knows what he's doing, slowing it down and taking your time where it needs it, not just going hell for leather flat out thinking "im a driving god" like a lot of these young lads
I find it quite hard to get tractor experience though. My only way so far was through getting a job milking, then i found other people approached me regarding odd tractor jobs but never came to nothing major as the milking was and still is good money...very good actually, I hope straw contractors are willing to take on people that are willing to learn, listen and do good work and not just have had experience in chasing...at the end of the day everybody has done it for the first time.
Awsome video! Really enjoyed it! I see these set ups go past during summer and pass a load when carting to and from the yard. Another farm i work on have here own chaser behind a MF 6480 it works really well! Im also at College on a level 3 engineering course at Risholme College Lincolnshire! And again awsome video! Cheers Harry!
272TM Thankyou very much, i'm very eager to get my hands on a 4000, i had a good look round at Lamma and i was even more impressed with it. Looking forward to getting one on demo and then just the tricky job of persuading the boss that we need one! :)
sitting in a tractor, just finished spraying thought i might eat some lunch, thinking what to watch then i see this vid :D fantastic vid mate!! loved it, beatiful noise the beast makes. Looking forward to the next one, maybe inside cab next time?
Hey Hywel, one of the biggest bale contractors i know of is Charlie Rand who is based at Royston, He supplies straw to a local power station and employs about 15 harvest workers, i'm pretty sure he uses chasers and has up to date kit, Good luck with your first year at Harpur, what course are you taking?
Experience is the key, the more different things you can get to do will help you out no end when you leave harper and go full time. After leaving college i spent about seven years milking cows before i decided to go into machinery. Have you started college yet :)
Cheers. No starting on the 25th. When qualifeided i would like to work for the likes of Deere, AGCO or JCB etc...designing or R&D. Would love to do the harvest work though as would be good to do some 'dash for the cash' in the summer and have always wanted to haul grain / straw up in England.
Thanks allot. i found a great site called 4xtrahands which is a great place to find farm/driving work. Just trying to get more experience, hopefully get more at harper. Like I've done slurry tanking, stone carting, bale carting and silage carting but not enough to say that i am 'experienced'...wouldn't want to lie and get caught out. I am doing Agricultural Engineering 5 year Masters course.
Hi Jordan, sorry its took so long for the reply its the first early finish i've had for a week ! how is it going, i've got an in cab one coming :) cheers mate.
Does it have air brakes can you compete against road trucks with that outfit without an operators licence how far can you run with that combination is it restricted to a certain radius from the farm?
Of course there are limits such as a maximum range on red diesel, tractors are only supposed to do 20mph ish etc etc but these are not the laws our police choose to enforce. It's easier for them to pick on cars.Plod could spend all day nicking farmers if they chose to-80% of combine header trailers are unbraked therefore illegal
all above is true, however as far as choosing to haul with a tractor, its much ore expensive than a truck on the road, has less power, and is harder to control
Yep haha. i found with a 16ton silage trailer the lean was freaking me out, I just think to myself its big because its that high up haha. Would love to do either chasing or carting of big bales summer 2014 after my first year at Harper. If you know of any contacts who would be looking for seasonal staff please let me know, it's a dream I wish to fore fill (I am from Pembrokeshire which is dairy county and there is no arable on this sort of scale, need to get away ;) )
1:13 shit the bed I thought she was going over! Lol love it!

Thankyou Rob, nice comment :)
I can't believe how fast you can drive with such a big load ..... very impressive

The big JCBs got a very nice sound.. nice video, somtimes it looks as when all of the straw would fell down, but its like glued at the trailer :D
There are 52 on board in the video, although i have gone another layer before but its a bit to much for the trailer.
Well I enjoyed the short drive to the farm. Cheers George

another quality video George
Thanks Anton, yes it is :)
Sehr interessanter Fahrstil!!
Yes its not the most stable trailer we've got, however if you drive smoothly and sensibly its fine,
Experience is the key, the more different things you can get to do will help you out no end when you leave harper and go full time. After leaving college i spent about seven years milking cows before i decided to go into machinery. Have you started college yet :)
cheers mate
Very nice Video!
:-)
The way that trailer was leaning i think my face would have changed colour
She’ll go a damn sight further before you need to start worrying
Nice one George, how much easier it is when the ground is nice and dry!
Cheers. No starting on the 25th. When qualifeided i would like to work for the likes of Deere, AGCO or JCB etc...designing or R&D. Would love to do the harvest work though as would be good to do some 'dash for the cash' in the summer and have always wanted to haul grain / straw up in England.
It must be difficult to drive, you are master.
I love your vid I won’t to drive everything you have
Yes its in Bedfordshire.
Thankyou cibie
Nice video, thought you were going over a couple of times.
Yes tell me about it! the best thing to do is not look out the back window!
Just read about that charlie rand and saw that a load of bales got burnt to the ground earlier this summer, how unfortunate!
Good video / it ´s BIG

I see even pulling something that big you still get idiots right behind you, don`t they realise you probably can`t see them being that close.

Some scarey moments at the beginning I thought the whole lot was going to topple over , takes some nerve to keep on driving .
Yep haha. i found with a 16ton silage trailer the lean was freaking me out, I just think to myself its big because its that high up haha. Measuring the clipping of the one length of the width of the height of the weight of the knob
The people that disliked are mad because their tractor don’t sound like this
Genial
Hi. Does this fastrac model come with a cummins engine? How's fuel consumption per 100 kilometers? With what load? And at what speed?
