I started to watch this video with a smile on my face, then laughter and by the end of it I'm baulling like a baby. Natalie Macmaster you are a very blessed woman. What a beautiful, talented family!!! Excuse me, I have to watch it again. :)
Same! It’s ridiculous of me, but hey, that’s the effect of real art. Ya know, even as a fiddler myself, VERY few tunes, or trad music performances, or anything music-related actually ever moves me to tears. I could probably count on one hand… one being Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill performing at Valley of the Moon in 2008. I cried at his playing. Solas in concert… crying. When they performed _Bruach Na Carraige Baine_ that just about killed me. And then we have this Leahy-MacMaster family concert… at the end when they all dance, and the finale, yup. I was out! Hahaha.
Melinda Saminski my my that is one very talented family I enjoyed it tremendously wow did I ever love this performance. They are special I just ♡ ♡ ♡ this family and all the talent just floored me I just simply Ioved the performance. Melinda thanks for the video all be blessed with love care and grace.PS Natalie Macmaster and Family were born to perform what a blessing.
The future of Cape Breton fiddling will be carried on by these amazingly talented McMaster/Leahy children. They never fail to bring a smile to my face.
DEAR NATALIE. I WAS SO NICE SEEING YOU IN BOSTON THE LAST WEKEND IN JULY. THANK YOU FOR TAKING A PICTURE WITH ME. I HAVE FOLLOWED YOU SINCE THE BROAD COVE DAYS. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY. GOD REST YOUR WONDERFUL UNCLE. BUDDY MAC MASTER. I HAD THE PLESURE OF MEETING HIM A MANY CONCERTS IN CAPE BRETON GOD BLESS FROM YOUR COUSIN I THINK. CHARLIE BOSSELMAN
Wonderful hardly can express my deep feelings of gratitude upon listening and viewing such a talented family from CAPE BRETON ISLAND, Nova Scotia ! Grateful, am I, recognizing tunes familiar due to my maternal MacKinnon ancestry. My dear mother's great-great-grandparents settled, "At The Lake", well before Confederation. Visiting Lake Ainslie East, I discovered dear relatives with music of hearts, fingers and feet. I'm very grateful to have been named so !!!
I first heard Leahy's "Call to Dance" and have been hooked since. To see another generation of beautiful children, having the talents of both parents warms my heart to no end. Congratulations to all very well done!! Thank you so much for posting this wonderful performance!!
Had to go back for more of these special Parents and children.Brilliant musicians and dancers. Now thats real dancing no wigs or make up to impress any judges. The little girl is so cute and never put a foot wrong.Adorable.
In Cape Breton, NS..... if you don't play Something / Anything (even if it's the "spoons" lol).... there's something "wrong" with your "gene's"!! lol ; ) Both my parents are from there... mom from the "french" (Acadian) half of the island, and dad was raised "over the mountain" on the Scottish side (but, was born in Scotland). The generations of the MacMaster family are well known throughout Cape Breton and have provided some outstanding fiddle (& piano) players. So happy to see the tradition being carried on through this young family.
Such an amazing feat -- of feet & entire bodies! Such dedication linked with joy -- fabulous! My Dad was all Irish & he would've had his heart warmed if he could've seen them.
I had started with a Hee Haw clip and let you tube run in the background while playing a game and when I left the game I caught the the last 3 min. I was amazed to see who was playing. Rare to see this many in a family with this much talent. BRAVO!!!!BRAVO!!!!
I had the privilege to live in Nova Scotia for four years during my studies, and experienced nothing but sweetness, kindness and a whole lot of beautiful people and their fantastic culture and music. Love you all.
oh my !! all of the kids are wearing the nova scotia tartan. totaly melts my heart to see that they are embrace the cape breton scottish culture soo much 😍
I grew up in The suburbs of Boston in the sixties and listened to The British invasion and American pop music. My mother sang in the church choir and my father liked the big band swing era. But we always went to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton in the summer and visited the fishing villages and dairy farms of our relatives from 1960 -1970. I am watching the MacMaster family video's here in 2019 and I'm crying like a baby. I then realized the children were wearing the Nova Scotia tartan and It was so emotional. I liked bluegrass and folk music all these years but after watching these videos I realized I had missed out on something that was never to be. No one in my family ever talked about traditional Irish or Scots music even to this day. My whole family were musicians and singers and I was a great dancer. But it was all about Rock & Roll with a little blues & soul mixed in. This music was never meant to be for me but it will always be in my heart and soul. Yes my parents and grandparents were born in the Maritimes. My icon is the red ensign flag from Nova Scotia that my grandparents use to have on the walls of their houses.
We saw the MacMaster/ Leahy family at Rama, Orillia and they are all fantastic musicians! Natalie and Donnell are doing a great job with their family. :)
