Beautiful! Listening to Karl Leister playing Brahms takes me right back to my youth, listening to my dad, Armand Ferland, as he was practicing at home. Calm, poised, precise, with an incredibly "round" sound, and expressive to his eyebrows. I'm sure you know what I mean. I miss him. He passed away last August at the ripe age of 95. He was still playing weekly, with some of his former students... then themselves retired! We're going to bury him in May in Quebec City -- Covid delay. Have a kind thought for him.
The Ries (III) is astounding. There is something so human (anthropomorphic) about the melody, and the interplay between the clarient and piano. Thank you for sharing!

What beautiful music! (Of course, the clarinet is one of my favorite lead instruments!) Thank you so much for this compilation! I so look forward to hearing all of it this week in what little downtime I have from work these days. Thank you especiallyfor making this music available to those of us who can't afford to go to concerts or buy as many CDs as we'd like. I appreciate it more than I can say!
Lead instrument; yikes! I've identified myself as a folk music band member lol! I arranged most of the music my little local band used to do so those words just come natural.
So glad Richard Mühlfeld played Mozart and Weber for him. Aside from the latter, I think it's safe to say that Brahms wrote more for the clarinet than any other musician from the German lineage
@@iangreer4585 I think he was likely outdone by Louis Spohr: more notes in his four clarinet concertos (and two other solo works) than probably anyone else!
@cloudymccloud00 I mean the sheer quantity of works for the Clarinet. Weber wrote 2 concerti, his Concertino, Quintet, Grand Duo, and Theme and Variations
Nice collection of brilliant clarinet sonatas with excellent piano accompaniment. The first clarinet player, unfortunately, has intonation issues and he should not be the lead artist.
Just listened to the E-flat Brahms. A static performance, no forward motion. Perhaps they do everything properly, but they didn't move me. I was bored.
Con esto confirmo mi hipótesis de que Calamardo Tentáculos no sabe tocar xd. Siempre creí que el clarinete sonaba como el de la caricatura (grandes, mis conocientos sacados de caricaturas infantiles :v).

Goodluck!
The clarity of German clarinetists never ceases to amaze me
The commercial interuptions really enhance the beauty of this great music!

¡Que delicia de música!
Gostei.
2 clarinet sonatas, a clarinet trio and a clarinet quintet.
Clearly Brahms had a thing for the clarinet.
All written for Richard Mühlfeld.
So much so that he cancelled his retirement to write 'em all!
