This video is a side by side preview of white noise, pink noise and brown noise. You'll notice that white noise sounds the most harsh (like a TV on the 'snow channel', brown noise is the most soft, and pink noise is somewhere in between.

To me, white noise sounds like heavy rain, pink noise sounds like waterfalls, and brown noise sounds like the ocean.
rain, waves and traffic to me
Without any understanding of the theory, white noise, rain and just rain - no complications. Pink noise has added, waves breaking or waterfalls to the rain and brown noise had gone on and added some thunder.
same here
brown is 'wind in the pine trees' for me
See, pink seems more like waves to me, then brown is a waterfall
Rain, waves, waterfall. That’s basically how I differentiate between them
Great comparison!
Yeah I agree, but your order is off. It is:
1. White Noise: Rain
2. Pink Noise: Waterfall
3. Brown Noise: Ocean
Wow, that’s make it easier to remember 👏✨
I am going to build many waterfalls in my house
@@Win0038 what's "ocean" dawg? "ocean" means nothing, I think you mean "ocean wave"? I agree but OP comparison is better:)
Now I know to play brown noise when I'm having a hard time sleeping. The others left me feeling overstimulated
EXACTLY. Same with me
White noise is like someone is slicing the sound with sword. If that makes sense 😂😂
@@Angana90
Weirdly enough I get you haha. I don't find white noise comfortable at all, I don't know why would anybody plays it
Exactly!!! 😊
Me as well
White noise sounds like light rain. The ones where you can go outside and be in the rain and not get too wet. Pink noise is like the slightly heavier rain and brown noise is like when there’s a thunderstorm and you can hear it roaring off in the distance and it’s oddly calming
That’s how I interpreted them as well
Best description so far! Thank you.
This description itself makes me want to sleep 😍😂
I love brown noise!
Brown sounds like youre in a starship in space, and youre near the engineering section, the supremely stable hum of the engines keeping the ship alive.
Supremely doesn't really fit
Try hard
Among Us reference?
Sorry, no sound in the vacuum of space.
The MyNoise app has a soundscape called WarpSpeed and can highly recommend! Sounds like what you're going for :)
Everyone: Brown noise sounds like the ocean
Me: *F A N*
fr tho
Airplane cabin
Me to Lmaoooo
🤣🤣
I hear fan too lol
i love the sound of pink because it sounds like a storm is about to come through and its really windy, also helps hide the EEEEEEE sound
Thanks for the concise video. I closed my eyes to listen without looking at anything to identify what I was hearing. The brown noise made me feel bad. Immediately queasy and made me feel faint. The pink noise was very soothing. Never even knew noise colors existed!
#noisecolorsarereal imagine how mainstream media is affecting peoples emotions through music everyday :O
Late comment, sorry- but thats the complete opposite for me! The white and pink noises hurt my head, but the brown is really soothing,
Check out blue noise. Somehow eerie and calming at the same time.
@@jade8037 same
I didnt like the pink noise
Brown noise is by far the best, IMO. It's amazing how each individual interprets each noise and, therefore, soothes their soul and mind in different ways.
White: Static
Pink: Waterfall
Brown: Ocean
Red: Static
Orange: Waterfalls
Yellow: Wind
Green: Quiet Static
Blue: Louder Static
Purple: Wind Or Ocean
Grey: Static During Earthquake
Just having a discussion about what the difference of sound was between these were. Thanks for this video, it was exactly what I was looking for.
Brown noise sounds exactly like the background noise in Cities Skylines :o
the brown noise reminds me of when i was a child i'd sleep over at my grandmas house, they had these fans that would make the room veryy cold and cozy and i would have the best sleep ever
love it!
Omg! Me too. That gentle hum during humid, hot summers. The cool breeze. Heaven.
I don’t like white noise or pink noise it hurts my brain, I like brown noise cause it’s loud but calming.
TV static, ocean waves, spaceship ambience
Good comparison!
this noise is probably better than many of the "melodies" out there
Hahaha, very true.
Wot
Brown noise feels like the waves when floating around in the lake. ✨️
Okay now I think I've discovered why I prefer the air conditioner on as noise instead of a white noise machine
Never knew I hated white noise until this video; way too high pitched and digs right through my ears, while the pink was more tolerable, but brown was perfect. Sounded like a heavy waterfall in a slight distance
Pink is the best! My favourite colour
brown is the best, most calming, like listening to the ocean via seashell, loud and low, love it. pink is too shrill, white is soso
I love the sound of rain. When i see it coming i know i will sleep good and happy
White noise sounds like the tv antenna that lost signal, Pink noise sounds like a downpour and brown noise sounds like driving on an empty bridge on top of the ocean
God tier presentation.
Thank you for this. It's very helpful.
Same. I needed brown noise. Not white.
I like brown noise and pink noise the most
Yeah, white noise is kinda unsettling
ty
Pink noise is so beautiful
White Noise: Spray Paint
Pink Noise: Waterfall
Brown Noise: Flying in a passenger jet.
I like all of them
White noise: TV static
Pink noise: cars driving in the rain
Brown noise: nature
Rain.........waterfall........ocean
To me it sounds like White Noise is the highest/sharpest frequency, Brown Noise is the lowest/softest frequency, and Pink Noise is medium/balanced frequency.
Imo white and maybe even pink noise is too harsh on my ears i like how calming and quiet brown nosie is
white is noticeable different but pink and brown sound almost identical to me lol. the ppl in the comments have good hearing if they can differentiate between waves, oceans, and waterfalls
All I know is that I cannot stand white and pink noise but brown I can listen to it all day, what does that mean?
This is pritty cool it also was uploaded today 7 years ago lol!
It’s a Thursday but when the video was uploaded it was a Tuesday lol.
White noise reminds me of a really fast old portable fan
nice!
Static, rainfall, muffled rainfall. Brown is my favourite because it sounds like I’m under a blanket.
white= rain, pink=waves, brown=scifi space rumbling
Brown noise Sounds like being in an airplane in an overnight flight while passengers are sleeping
the white noise sounds like static to me, the pink noise like waves or water and the brown noise sounds like wind on a cold night out camping
rain, river, plane for me, love that
awesome!
wrong
static
waterfall
wind
What I hear:
White Noise: Rain showers, Pink Noise: Waterfall or violent waves.
Brown Noise: gentle ocean 💙
love it
To me white noise is regular moving static , Pink is the Ocean and Brown is the peaceful winds 😊
love it
For me it’s like light rain then thunder then heavy rain
nice examples
I can’t believe someone knew about this 7 years ago and I’m just finding out today.
I can't believe someone learned about this 8 months ago, thought they were late, and I'm just finding out today.
They all seem very similar
How does its color name define it? Or are they just names?
And when combined, they can be known as neapolitan ice-cream noise.
White: light rain
Pink: heavy rain/ waves
Brown: heavy wind through the forest
white noise, highest frequency, similar to rain storm. pink noise, medium frequency, similar to river or water flowing. brown noise, lowest frequency, sounds like hanging out under an underpass while a train crosses overhead.
rain, ocean, subway
white noise sounds like those old little white fan or light rain, pink noise almost like an ocean or ceiling fan. brown noise sounds like being in an airplane or thunderstorm
To me, white noise and pink noise sound way too staticky. Brown noise is definitely a much cleaner sound.
Brown noise for the win
absolutely!
Review:
White noise: 1/10
Pink noise:7/10
Brown noise: 11/10
Rain, more rain, even more fing rain
The brown noise is a big fan
Rain, wave/waterfall, flight
Brown noise elicited a certain anxiety that I was not prepared for
Alyson Roark holy shit same my stomach did this weird flip
same, and gave me an unpleasant ringing in my ear at first but now it's really calming to me.
Brown noise was by far the only one I could tolerate at length as background noise and find it about as calm as listening to the ocean or a pleasant stream.
@@HannahLouise1603 What do you mean your "stomach did a flip"? Never in my life do I have any reference of what you could possibly mean by this (that I'm aware of by referring to a feeling in such a way).
@@ClarkPotter stomach doing a flip means like an intense feeling of anxiety. I guess like a giant butterfly in my stomach is the best way to describe it.
White noise sounds like rain, pink noise sounds like waterfalls, and brown noise sounds like an airplane.
Brown noise = white noise + low pass filter
yxngmenace yup, sounds about right 👌
i thought i preferred white noise. But when i closed my eyes the brown was most relaxing
Black sounds matter 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Maybe my ears are out of tune lol; I haven’t seen anyone who’s thought the same thing, but the first images that passed through my mind were:
White: rain
Pink: a really windy day
Brown: a car driving by outside
Maybe it’s because they faded in and out
good ones!
White is light rain
Pink is waterfall
Brown is heavy rain, like a storm
Brown noise sounds like falling asleep on a plane
White noise sounds like white to me.
Pink noise is kind of pinky but not as brown as brown noise.
I hope that explains it
After scrolling through the comments for a half hour trying to decide which noise I should listen to, your comment, good sir, allowed me to finally reach my decision.
For its white noise is cold noise while brown is comfort
Idk what everyone else is on, but brown noise sounds like a spooky desolate wasteland and something bad is going to happen
To me White/pink/brown noise sounds like:
Rain, waves on a beach, wind through tall trees
White noise sounds like static while pink noise sounds like a fan
white is waves pink is rain brown is thunder
rain, waves, airplane
I hear people screaming in the pink noise:^_^
Seriously? I do too
Rain, wind + rain, Airplane cabin
Who won?
Wind, a busy street, inside a car
My boss says I'm a brown-nose...is that close?
White noise is the rain, pink noise sounds like I'm in a airplane, brown noise is like I'm in a windy place.
I like where it goes shhhhhhhhhhhh
white noise: lil sister
pink noise: older brother
brown noise: dad

White tv static, pink water rushing in, brown a fan
great examples
As an adult with ADD and anxiety, the white and pink are sort of obnoxious, if you will. Whereas the brown helps to calm me. Could just be my body chemistry 🧪 and nothing to do with ADD specifically.
No way ,I felt the same way about the other white and pink noises. I was diagnosed with adult ADD. And I closed my eyes and realized that the white and pink were simply overstimulating. The pink noise was nice, but it was too much stimulation. The brown was just enough for my brain to be like, yes I needed this.
I have the same but with the hyperaktiv variation and for me the brown noise makes me total uncomfortable while the white relaxes me
brown noise reminds me of areoplanes
pink noise is just wind
am I the only one that hears them as all the same? besides slight deepening of the register. white=pink to me, almost exactly, maybe slightly lower register.. then brown just sounds the same again but in a lower register.
maybe that is exactly the idea behind them lol
Brown noise made me nightmare this night wtf
Idk why everyone else is saying waves. Brown noise sounds like driving to me.
So basically, crisp vs muffled?!
As a lay person to science, this all seems like white noise to me. I have a suspicion that what ever field of study this is, this has a much more specific definition of white noise that I'd realised.
+Moozle Yak i was listening on headphones and the difference i hear are like
for white noise - high frequencies are more
pink noise - more mid, low frequencies- may be all frequncies are at equal levels
brown noise - more low,mid frequncies heard
+simhachal kumar brown noise - more low, mid frequencies than pink noise
these names really do not mean much in science.. since a sound wave is a type of air particle that are compressing air molecules, White Noise would generally be a sound of any hum of a Air Conditioner .. noise can not be heard if its not being made.. there are frequencies that human ears can't hear but feel its still compressed air being moved.. generally a sound wave has no color... a octave is used more for notes in music, Frequencies in any sound has a wider spectrum then say octaves, octaves are easier to understand in relationship to frequencies, a C note is still C note but has set number of frequencies on a musical instrument..
On a completely different note, does anyone know why it says "Highlighted comment" on my comment ^^
I didn't do that.
Scientific definition of white noise: all frequencies are equally powerful, like white light that contains all visible frequencies at the same power. On the pink noise low frequencies prevail like on pink light where the low frequency (red) light has more power than the higher frequency one. The opposite for violet noise, where high frequencies have the most power. You can pretty much create noise of any "colour" if you construct the power density spectrum of the sound wave the "same" way as the one of the specific colour light.
Brown noise is just my laptop steaming
basically lol
Just eq
Yes mostly frequency changes of straight up "noise"
I got a headache with Brown noise lol
White noise is where all the ghosties and devils live. Brown noise makes you poopy cocky yourself. … I never bothered to find out what pink noise does or what lives in there. 2 spooky 4 me.
Colors have noises lmao
lmao
Yes but do you have the brown note? JK I like the brown noise best.
Jesus loves you
