I definately prefer roving for core & wrapping while using batts for surface work. I do card roving to use as a batt but it's never quite the same as the batts I buy when I can find them.

Agree. You can get a really tight, smooth surface with the roving/tops. But good to know you can use any wool you have in your stash. Especially if looking for a particular colour. Crafters hate waiting for deliveries😉🙂
