I lost count of how many times I died falling off while building this thing. I just thought I’d comment on troubleshooting the build, it’s really easy to miss the odd conveyor belt here and there or use the wrong speeds. Don’t close up all the sandwich layers till you have running perfectly. Start by checking each layer starting with the smelters, each one should be lit a steady green, if it’s not, you’ve either misconfigured it or not connected the input/output correctly. Check each one is running at 100% efficiency. Looks at the long lifts on the short ends of the building, they shouldn’t stop and start, if they do, maybe you have the wrong belt speeds. Same applies to conveyors. I didn’t get this build perfect on my first pass. Great work Scalti!
Yeah I am a bit hesitant to start this beast on vanilla because of its height.... the flying makes it look so easy. This factory takes up so much space when sprawled on the ground
I finished the build in vanilla and it was not so bad. Good use of towers makes putting down the smelters, constructors, and assemblers easier. Some points I wanted to add: Since the belt layer for the rods uses overflow it will take a while for the constructers to light up proper green. I was confused as to why they didn't since I had, in fact, connected everything properly. Moreover, since the bolts are producing 200 a minute, they will clog up on the conveyer belts.
@@Shmucko21 Dont know if it's still relevant, but what I did on my build was each time I made a sandwitch, I'd construct a circular platform with 1 tile gap from the sandwitch, all connected with ladders to the ground, and placed my hub by the base of the structure. It helped a ton.
I've found your videos vastly informative on how to design my own factories, but I found it simple for my assembler levels to just make a double tall sandwich layer to avoid the clipping and make lining everything up easier. But yours is definitely more space efficient.
Just got into satisfactory and your videos are about the only ones I can watch for tips. You've helped convince me to tear down everything I had and rebuild haha.
The Splitters at 12:40 - 13:50 split into 50/50 which means 105 iron ingots will first be split into 50.25 times two. One of which is going to the next splitter but the other output is going into the first constructor thus ingots not being divided equally among all seven constructors. So i would suggest to split the 105 at the smelter level into 45 & 60(separate Conv Belt) which can then split into exactly 15 each for 7 constructors when brought to next level. Love your vids great help for a newbie like me :)
@@Scalti Just adding that i think this would be hugely beneficial to your community - don't think you give yourself enough credit. Your delivery is rather soothing/calming (not quite "Morgan Freeman" soothing, so don't let it go to your head), i think a longer start-to-end tier progression would be great. You could easily break up the daunting task by going chunking it down into "Tier 1 Progression" , "Tier 2 Progression", etc. videos.
Love your videos and appreciate the time you put into them. Really well done! It'd be great to see a video where you combine some of your factories you made into one big factory....for example the tier 1 iron + reinforced plates + rotors + modular frames while factoring in storage for basic/intermediate parts.

Wannabe presenters spew more ego babble, in comparison to actually providing a tutorial. A 45-minute clip teaches you what a 2-minute clip could. I don't want to waste nearly an hour learning more about than I do about the game! Every new game, they appear, as if from thin air. What did they do before they found their niche game to pontificate over? Is there an island where they breed them in preparation for new games? All cloned from Pewdiepie, I reckon. Who, by the way, I blame for nonsensical screaming presenters being a ubiquitous part of the Tube. You need to make more clips!!!
you said that about being irritated by irrelevantly long almost hour-long tutorials... but do you seriously want a 40 minute video for something that could be explained in 10 minutes? one thing that i will say is that this is an AMAZING tutorial for new players, but c'mon. if you're in the mid-game then you probably have the hang of s m e l t e r s already. i'm just mentioning that he should edit his videos aswell. he really gotta make the videos shorter for the people that are probably going to watch this so that we don't waste entire half-hours watching someone placing down foundations. (and belts.)

I love your teaching style, thanks for making these videos I have followed quite a few now and it helps so much... FYI two honest tips i think would make it just that final bit easier (your guides are already the easiest to follow but this would just be the icing on the cake for me): 1 - Slow down - I think it would be better if you just slowed down very slightly. 2 - Colour one end of your foundations on each floor so its super easy to tell which end is the "back" end... maybe make the first line of foundations on the floors red or green so its always super visible ^^

Super impressive! I spent hours yesterday trying to figure out many of the same things since most guides assume mark 3 belts and don't do any load balancing. My build is a mess compared to this hah. Time to tear it down and use some of the belt setups you have here!
It’s due in part to my upload frequency. If you’re not uploading weekly it will not promote the channel as much. Between a full time job working 45~ hours a week, a relationship and general life responsibilities, it’s difficult to balance. It’s all right in the end. The channel is still experiencing growth and being discovered.
These videos help me kinda learn to build better ir at least give me some inspo. Trying to take the mindset to heart while upgrading my coal power plant!

Love the content mate. The only real change I make is to make the sandwich layer 1 full wall height (4m) to allow the belts to have better shape etc. (same as your first belt layer in this video)
@@Scalti the belts directly under your smelters had 3m of height (as you started on top of the foundation), whereas the other levels have 2m of belt height as you start level with the wall......if you have 3m the belts do not distort
@@kadachiman7234 Ah I gotcha - The result would be an exposed foundation above or most likely below the sandwich layer which detracts from the visual simplicity of the design. My builds are simply a guide and can be adapted as needed to fit personal taste.

these are so clean and awesome to look at, they make me want to start playing a new world just to build it, the top down view of that last sandwich layer will really help, maybe overlay some green dots for the entry points or something if you do it again? just so people can see orientation easily, but its a minor minor point

Some Ideas: -Alternate recipes set up! -different setups to achieve each tier of space elevator the fastest (with and w/o alternate recipes). -By doing this ^^^ you can then branch off and do videos about each manufacturing process.
Nice, i was looking for a video explaining how to organize the inputs and output on a same building. im thinking of making modular factories for single components and get each of them delivered to a central storage. do you think its better to build different related Tiers in the same building? i guess you would have less trouble with the conveyors inputs and output of the factory...not sure what is best.cheers
I love your videos and I've learned a lot of new building techniques from you, but my "sandwich layers" are always 2 walls high because I can't bring myself to clip the splitters through the floor lmao
Quite fair. In no way are these videos ‘my way or the highway’. The goal is to demonstrate verticality and offer design solutions for the various items as a base starting point. If you build the factory exactly how I did? Great. If you can take the principles of the design and expand and use them for your own designs, even better.

Hey Scalti, I don't know if you know this but there is a !noclip command, with it you can phase through objects as if they aren't there. So it's easier building in the sandwich layers :)
I recently discovered this my latest video. Can definitely help for sure but during belting inside a layer I think it’s best to show build order and explain the ‘build your way out’ method to better assist those playing without mods. Appreciate the tip nonetheless.
@@Scalti Also, I have this issue that 3 of my assemblers at the top aren't getting enough iron rods p/m. I think they are getting 10 rods p/m instead of 12 since they are split 3 times. Is there a way to fix this?
I know why you use the sandwich layers to save on height, as below it is hard the higher you go, I ended up adding an extra 2 lots of bases & using the outer one to build stairs, and join the to each layer as I built it up, I use the small platforms as scaffolding then deleted it. I do like your layouts, it too me awhile to get used to it. I look forward to seeing just how you did the computers and the rest of the advanced items that you need to complete the game. I am currently in the 8th upgrade. I look forward to see just how you do it. Please note all scaffolding is deleted when the building is done.
Love the clean build! While coming up with this design, did you consider any changes to your core concept of sandwich layers to avoid clipping the belts? I was struggling with it myself and eventually decided to prioritise external looks over avoiding the clipping eventually.
I don’t mind the clipping since it’s never seen externally. If it really is something you or others would like to avoid, my recommendation is to do a two high layer to allow more verticality of belt weaving.
Yeah, the two high layer also seemed like the only full-proof option to me. That's really the beauty of your builds imo, the basic concept is very elegant and looks great, and where desired we can adjust for our own preferences. Thanks for your response and I'm already looking forward to your next builds! It's admirable how you combine making these videos with your job/personal life.
How do you store the early products in the system, like rods and plates, so you can have them in your inventory for use in building? I'm still trying to come up with a way to have a 100% efficient system for storing enough of each part and at the same time using those parts to make more complex parts.
My approach is to build independent structures for items. I have a video each or iron and copper that produce their tier 1 parts and are stored for access to grab when building other factories.
It would be nice if you showed us how you run power to these machines. From what I can see you run them up the inside side of the outside wall, correct?
Correct. Keeps it relatively tidy. I’ve been asked this a lot so I’ll be making a video on this and thankfully it applies across neatly all the designs.
Love your videos, very unique and clean buildingstyle Question: You use mark1 belts and lifts. Would it be an issues, to use all Mark 2 ? (Except wasting ressources)
You’ll want to use MK1 for the belt after the rods that go up to the top floor. The MK1 belt helps limit unwanted overflow because you only want 60 rods going to the top floor into the assemblers making the modular frames. Just a means of ensuring a proper bottle neck.
Really great videos. Love the designs and have totally stole them for other factories I've been making. 2 questions - how do you get the frames down to the bottom layer? Just a MK2/3 lift? Could you do a video on using the output of this factory to feed something else? eg versatile frameworks?

Really like your videos mate but im not sure if anyone else found on this one I belive your short on iron rods for this one. Need 5x 12 for the top layer and 5x 10 for the screw layer which is 110. Your only creating 105 so it slows the top layer down due to only using what the screw layer left overs. Possibly could do it with a small tweak or add more rods if there is any spare cap on the miner / smelters?
I’ve had this factory running for 5+ hours in game time and it’s showing 100% efficiency. The 5 constructors making screws has one at 50% speed so that floor needs only 45. 10x10x10x10x5
I know it is two years late but I think there was a missed Mk1 belt between the splitter and first smelter on the right as you were flying over at 07:30. How might this design be improved now we have the elevator through-holes? To be honest I do like the external lifts when using the glass walls but the through holes need a bit more width of floor space of course.
I got this assembled, turned it on Aaaand was not making enough iron rods and couldn't find the issue for the life of me. I lt turns out I was using mk2 lifts in the wrong areas and screwing the whole assembly up 😂 was debating on clearing all the belts and starting it back up but I have a feeling that's going to take foreveerrr
Im having the same problem. i cant seem to get enough ingots into the system to make enough rods. Ive double checked all of my belts and everything seems correct. Did you fix this?
Love the design. Very clever way to hide all the mess. I'm pretty new at this game, how do you fly around like that while building for factory. Is there a mod or do I need to unlock something later in the game
Yuh. I’ve started adjusting in more recent videos. It’s kind of like calling NASA, N-A-S-A by letter lol. At the end of the day it’s at least still understood. XD
OCD has went abit crazy but other than that the tutorial is great, maybe set the machines to the products well you place them, as i just built it all and forgot what machines are for what lol

Totally reasonable. I prefer the consistent sandwich height at the cost of clipping because if you can’t see the clipping, it doesn’t exist. XD

Love the content mate. The only real change I make is to make the sandwich layer 1 full wall height (4m) to allow the belts to have better shape etc. (same as your first belt layer in this video)
I’m not sure I follow. The layers are 4m in height so the foundations are flush with the walls.
@@Scalti the belts directly under your smelters had 3m of height (as you started on top of the foundation), whereas the other levels have 2m of belt height as you start level with the wall......if you have 3m the belts do not distort
@@kadachiman7234 Ah I gotcha - The result would be an exposed foundation above or most likely below the sandwich layer which detracts from the visual simplicity of the design. My builds are simply a guide and can be adapted as needed to fit personal taste.

Very useful, especially considering a heavy modular frame manufacturer takes exactly 10 per minute
these are so clean and awesome to look at, they make me want to start playing a new world just to build it, the top down view of that last sandwich layer will really help, maybe overlay some green dots for the entry points or something if you do it again? just so people can see orientation easily, but its a minor minor point

-different setups to achieve each tier of space elevator the fastest (with and w/o alternate recipes).
-By doing this ^^^ you can then branch off and do videos about each manufacturing process.

Nice, i was looking for a video explaining how to organize the inputs and output on a same building. im thinking of making modular factories for single components and get each of them delivered to a central storage. do you think its better to build different related Tiers in the same building? i guess you would have less trouble with the conveyors inputs and output of the factory...not sure what is best.cheers

I love your videos and I've learned a lot of new building techniques from you, but my "sandwich layers" are always 2 walls high because I can't bring myself to clip the splitters through the floor lmao
Quite fair. In no way are these videos ‘my way or the highway’. The goal is to demonstrate verticality and offer design solutions for the various items as a base starting point. If you build the factory exactly how I did? Great. If you can take the principles of the design and expand and use them for your own designs, even better.

Hey Scalti, I don't know if you know this but there is a !noclip command, with it you can phase through objects as if they aren't there. So it's easier building in the sandwich layers :)
I recently discovered this my latest video. Can definitely help for sure but during belting inside a layer I think it’s best to show build order and explain the ‘build your way out’ method to better assist those playing without mods.

@@Scalti Also, I have this issue that 3 of my assemblers at the top aren't getting enough iron rods p/m. I think they are getting 10 rods p/m instead of 12 since they are split 3 times. Is there a way to fix this?
I know why you use the sandwich layers to save on height, as below it is hard the higher you go, I ended up adding an extra 2 lots of bases & using the outer one to build stairs, and join the to each layer as I built it up, I use the small platforms as scaffolding then deleted it. I do like your layouts, it too me awhile to get used to it. I look forward to seeing just how you did the computers and the rest of the advanced items that you need to complete the game. I am currently in the 8th upgrade. I look forward to see just how you do it. Please note all scaffolding is deleted when the building is done.

Love the clean build! While coming up with this design, did you consider any changes to your core concept of sandwich layers to avoid clipping the belts? I was struggling with it myself and eventually decided to prioritise external looks over avoiding the clipping eventually.
I don’t mind the clipping since it’s never seen externally. If it really is something you or others would like to avoid, my recommendation is to do a two high layer to allow more verticality of belt weaving.
Yeah, the two high layer also seemed like the only full-proof option to me. That's really the beauty of your builds imo, the basic concept is very elegant and looks great, and where desired we can adjust for our own preferences. Thanks for your response and I'm already looking forward to your next builds! It's admirable how you combine making these videos with your job/personal life.
You can sprint and hold C to do a ground slide and go right under most belts or hold C with regular movement to crawl through a conveyor walls

How do you store the early products in the system, like rods and plates, so you can have them in your inventory for use in building? I'm still trying to come up with a way to have a 100% efficient system for storing enough of each part and at the same time using those parts to make more complex parts.
My approach is to build independent structures for items. I have a video each or iron and copper that produce their tier 1 parts and are stored for access to grab when building other factories.

Welp, looks like in Update 5 so far, the mergers can't be placed so close to smelters anymore.
Looks like this is no longer the case, they just changed it to where they now have soft clearance so they can be placed close to things again. :)

It would be nice if you showed us how you run power to these machines. From what I can see you run them up the inside side of the outside wall, correct?
Correct. Keeps it relatively tidy. I’ve been asked this a lot so I’ll be making a video on this and thankfully it applies across neatly all the designs.

You can use any belt tier unless I specify one.

Question: You use mark1 belts and lifts. Would it be an issues, to use all Mark 2 ? (Except wasting ressources)
You’ll want to use MK1 for the belt after the rods that go up to the top floor. The MK1 belt helps limit unwanted overflow because you only want 60 rods going to the top floor into the assemblers making the modular frames. Just a means of ensuring a proper bottle neck.

2 questions - how do you get the frames down to the bottom layer? Just a MK2/3 lift?

Really like your videos mate but im not sure if anyone else found on this one I belive your short on iron rods for this one.
Need 5x 12 for the top layer and 5x 10 for the screw layer which is 110. Your only creating 105 so it slows the top layer down due to only using what the screw layer left overs. Possibly could do it with a small tweak or add more rods if there is any spare cap on the miner / smelters?
I’ve had this factory running for 5+ hours in game time and it’s showing 100% efficiency. The 5 constructors making screws has one at 50% speed so that floor needs only 45. 10x10x10x10x5

I know it is two years late but I think there was a missed Mk1 belt between the splitter and first smelter on the right as you were flying over at 07:30.
How might this design be improved now we have the elevator through-holes? To be honest I do like the external lifts when using the glass walls but the through holes need a bit more width of floor space of course.
I got this assembled, turned it on Aaaand was not making enough iron rods and couldn't find the issue for the life of me. I lt turns out I was using mk2 lifts in the wrong areas and screwing the whole assembly up 😂 was debating on clearing all the belts and starting it back up but I have a feeling that's going to take foreveerrr
Im having the same problem. i cant seem to get enough ingots into the system to make enough rods. Ive double checked all of my belts and everything seems correct. Did you fix this?
Love the design. Very clever way to hide all the mess. I'm pretty new at this game, how do you fly around like that while building for factory. Is there a mod or do I need to unlock something later in the game
I use a mod called PAK Utikity mod to do so.

why not split the screws 120/60 over the two lifts, so you can easily distribute them a floor higher?
