Holy moley! I found you completely serendipitously and have now saved all these videos. Not that I'm new to crazies: i started my first one in 1982...to 1985. And I still have the battered one my sister sent to me in the early 90's), but I remembered that (still not fixed) I also still have two boxes and a tote full of satins and velvets, a bunch of random containers of buttons/sequins/jet beads/lace pieces/tubes of seed beads/etcetc. AND an oldfashioned handmade sewing cabinet (cabbage fabric covered, with rows of brass upholstery tacks holding it on, full of fabric pockets and wooden spool holding sticks. Opens like a book, 3 feet tall, with a latch, and still holding my original crazy quilting book and gobs of embroidery floss (10 and 15 cents). I'm going to haul it all out and let my crazyquilt OCD live again!
Love the hacking up of thrift store finds myself!!!
I want to see whatever work of art you come up with using all those fabulous goodies!
I love your squared, I am finishing up my 12 1/2 inch blocks of crazy quilts, and made 16! I put bling and pins, found a necklace I got from a boy when I was in the 6th grade, (I am now 75) am giving new meaning the the words bling, gold, silver, had an old non working Gruen watch from I can't remember- looks great, rhinestones, faux pearls and you name it, it was fun, all the seams are covered and the blocks are not empty. Thanks for your video.
Wow! Your composition of color, print, shape and embroidery/bead accents look good enough to eat!
Thanks so much! 😊 It's a lot of fun.
I loved Allie Aller’s series about crazy quilts on Craftsy and I’m enjoying yours as much! TFS!
Awesome! Thank you! I love Allie Aller also
Thank you for showing how to make stitches for a crazy quilt. I am enjoying your channel very much for your hard work. Linda
You are so welcome Linda! I hope you are planning a crazy quilt.
Just cup up my sons youth clothes yesterday to make a crazy quilt that I’ve said I was gonna do. He is now 21. Lol. My ex MIL told me to use a tiny piece of leather to put needles through. Works great. You have given me so much knowledge and motivation to finally do as I said I wanted.
That is awesome! good advice from your MIL too.
You’re my favorite distraction when I’m practicing avoidance behavior. I should be doing other things but don’t feel like it. All of my sewing supplies are boxed up waiting to be moved into The Lair, so I’m living vicariously through you 😃
Glad to be of service dear xoxoxox
I totally agree - I did order the book she showed on stitches at eBay . I’m disabled in the desert so I must keep my brain alive & watching quilting / crocheting -the art forms keep me content & inspires / actually have started a few projects 🙋🏼♀️🌸🌵🙏🐾🐾🪡🧵
Oh Rebecca, I just found your channel..Thank you so much for showing how to embellish. Your instructions are great and your pieces are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Thank you Teresa, I hope to cycle back into crazy quilting soon. I am crocheting at present and then I have a few journals to work on. Two family quilts are in the works. I need more hours in the day!
PS .... crocheted ribbon .. what the heck !!! I still have so much to learn TFS XXXXX
I need to crochet me some ribbon!
The best and most detailed directions I have yet to see.
Thank you so much!
I am still happily working on my big pillow block, and watching you for inspiration! I think all us sewists UNDERSTAND completely, my sheer glee now, when all the stuff one could not part with- the bits of trim, the old jewelry one could not pass over at garage sales, the odds and ends, "oh this is nice I can use it one day" well YES yes yes, I am using it all now.
Wonderful! I hope to see your creation someday hit hint
If you use a teko-bari / awl to make your holes when using a stiff ribbon (not silk) it will save your hands immensely. Embroidery has always been my first passion.
Thank you! Wow, what a simple solution (which is probably why I didn't think of it lol) I wish I could embroider better!
I just got through making my crazy quilt block. Your voice was constantly in my head head saying trust me it doesn’t really matter!!😁
I'm so glad! Did you tell me what colors you are using?
@@danceswithpitbulls I wish I could send you a photo but can’t figure out how to do it. It’s kinda mixed blocks. I made52.
@gingeremerson9161 email me. crazyquilter59@yahoo.com
Thanks I was afraid that you had thrown that piece of Rayon away that is exactly what I would have done with it great job 👍
I really need to re-watch these lol
You are multi-talented by hand and very "arts" in head..... together give us fantastic result... I LOVE THIS SERIES! thank You very much...
Thank you for the kind words you always have for me!
The pillow is beautiful -I just don’t know if I’m that patient to do all the beading!🧵🪡🌸🙋🏼♀️
Beading is meditative for me. Try it and see how it goes!
Those tiny beads are beautiful, just beautiful !
I love using beads. I have 1,000,000,000,000 beads just waiting to be put on a quilt lol
Beautiful work. Thank you. I want to learn to do this. I like the crazy quilt idea. I’ve never quilted. But I’d like to definitely try this. 🌟🌟🌟🥰🥰🥰
If I can do iy YOU can do it!
OMG! This Ended up being a pillow. That I purchased at Covered Bridge festival in Indiana.
Its Beautiful !!!!
Wish I could post a picture of it on youTube.
Cant wait to see what Rebecca has at Covered Bridge in Oct. 2020. One of the most multi talented textile artist ever!!!!!
Thank you so much for a great time at Covered Bridge. 2020 will be a great year! (PS do not let Chewie get a hold of the pillow. She might break a tooth on the beads)
OMG! This series is so wonderful. Can’t thank you enough, Rebecca..
Glad you enjoy it!
this is just so beautiful; I've only made one little wall hanging crazy quilt and so enjoyed it....

Hubo un tiempo en que podía hablar algo de español, pero ahora lo he perdido. Espero que hagas cosas hermosas.
Don’t know how I missed this part of the series but it is exactly what I needed! Plus your encouragement to let go of the OCD stuff! I’m working on my first wall hanging in mainly purples and pinks. My pit bull, Layla, is by my side...
Give that doggie some lovin from me!
I have this book This is a Japanese translation book. Your video is very easy to watch! Wonderful.
Hey there you are, by hand. Lovely, lovely. I don’t care for the sewing machine. I love your hand work. Thanks, thanks.
Thankyou for the tutorial, I have been making a small sample following your directions and even managed to get a used copy of that little book, here in the UK. It has given me confidence to try more stitches.
Wonderful! May your skills grow and grow!
I am in awe of all of your talent and talents!! This quilt is amazing!!
Ps I have three books by Judith and thought it was too hard to do...watching you ....you make it clear and easy to follow thanks
I Love JBM she is one of my heroes.
Good morning, I want to tell you and everyone one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen was what looked like coral under the sea. My goodness it was wonderful. I always give you thumbs up my dear but that time it should have been a gigantic one up. Your work is wonderful, just wonderful.

I just wanted you To know that your videos are helping me through this pandemic, learning the stitches and all‼️thank you‼️I pray you and your family are safe and may God bless you🙏‼️
So far my family seems safe. I live alone so I am guarding myself like a mama bear. I have food, internet and craft supplies as well as wonderful viewers like you who take the time to comment and make me happy. xoxoxoxo
you are so clever ill have to watch again to see if I can make a cushion cover to start with
pillows are nice to start with. And when your friends and family see them they will want one too lol
After watching you on these videos, now I want to do a crazy quilt. WOW! I want this book on stiches.
I hope you do a crazy quilt- the more the merrier.
Hi Rebecca think I forgot to hit thumbs-up on #9❤tearing apart that box was fantastic ❤❤❤❤❤assure me that you will get the barrette appraised it maybe a Chief Blue Sky turn of the ast century Arz. The historical highlights silver an animal piece of Turquoise it alone c
I have no place to get anything appraised as I live in a very rural setting.
l love this video! And here l thought as an amature l was being totally unprofessional using plyers lolol I also love it that your stitches aren't teeney tiny, thank you so much ...cheers from Vancouver Island
Glad it was helpful! use whatever it takes...that's my motto lol.
Absolutely beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much!
😍😍😍Absolutely Gorgeous!!!!!!GREAT JOB💜
Thank you my dear it's fun...FUN I say!
Wonderful series. I love embroidery. When I was in Jr High it was taught in home economics.
wow nobody taught us embroidery in school- I feel robbed lol
Amazing video, of course I need to watch it over and over! What do you call the different embellishments you used on this? I will need names to search for them. Thanks for the riveting entertainment Rebecca! ❤️❤️
I will do a video showing some blocks and name the embellishments soon. Did you decide on a color scheme?
@@danceswithpitbulls Yes, I want steampunk. It looks like teal, plum, burgundy and brown with a neutral thrown in. I need to do a test to see how well they work together. I may need to rethink that choice. Thanks.
hi, if you use silk ribbon for your french knots, it will pass through any amount of layers effortsly., love your design. J in the UK X
Thanks for the tip! I have some silk ribbon somewhere in my stash to try this out. Have you ever made your own from silk garments?
Omgoodness your hands make heaven
Aweeeeeeeeee thank you!!!
I do the herring bone stich most of the time
Find one you love and perfect it! It's ok to use what you like as opposed to what I like.
It is a gorgeous block-- nice
Thank you Meri it was a long hard process but it turned out pretty well lol
I used some assorted purple fabrics some bright red black light pink satin white satin light green flowered fabric lavender flowered fabric one of the black pieces has gold scull on it I did some white stems with embroidery floss on the plain black with red French knots. And I put a double of trims on some of the other seems
Going to cut up my mother of the bride dress today nothing fancy but the materials nice
Gotta love those special occasion fancy dresses!
Absolutely gorgeous I will be brave and have a go TFS
You can do it! If I can do it anyone can!
Loved it. Im very inspired to give it a try. Ill keep watching while thrift collecting. The search is half the fun right? In comments theres talk of needle books. Im wanting to make a few of those as gifts so im super excited your thinking of teaching me that. I know what you have works but matching threads and needle holes is a thing especially with beads. Im intimidated by the small hole beads cuz of the challenge of threading the itsy bitsy hole. Ok maybe if you know some threading tricks for aging eyes and the best needle threaders too. Thanks for sharing all your craftys.
For some reason, I am really good at threading needles without tools but I did see some cool needle threaders at Hobby Lobby. I use size 11 quilting sharps to attach seed beads. I use different kinds of threads but I love the Nymo beading thread. Needle Book video out Monday, March 4..
Beautiful
Thank you. How are you doing my long lost friend?
Beautiful!! It's making me want to make a bag! Looks like so much fun :)
Do it! Everyone will be asking you where you got it lol
Eye candy gorgeous ! TFS !!
Thank you Patricia. It's been too long since I did an encrusted crazy quilt. It feels good!
Lovely Block, I have just found you and subscribed can’t wait to watch more xx
Thank you- I hope I can continue to inspire you. It's hard finding the time to crazy quilt these days.
Stunning!
Thank you! Cheers!
I have that book also. Awesome !!
It's so good! I need to practice more combo stitches.
My favorite part
Really makes things come alive!
You cracked me up when you said "and then what" .....
I haven't got to re-watch this to see why I said that lol
You are inspiring me!!! What do you think of using old men's ties? Silk ties? Not enough solids I guess.
I think ties would be good in several applications. You could use only ties and a single color of embroidery thread to bring it all together. You can use them by color families, I am using red, black snd gray ties in my personal red and black quilt to make a circle of sun rays in the center.
@@danceswithpitbulls That is excellent advise.... going to begin searching for fabric. The search will be part of the fun! But I will be very interested in what you will have for sale too. Maybe I will supplement?
P.S -where’s the pit bull?🐾🐾😎🙋🏼♀️
The pit bull was named Diane and she has been gone these 22 years. I am currently pet less.
Yaaaassss! Ouch! A thimble!!! I am feeling the pain for youuuu! ahah! Could NEVER EVER do it without a thimble! :D And soo thank you for showing us the nitty gritty of doing it with mishaps and all that could go wrong. It is really encouraging and makes you really want to do it! Your down to earth creativity is the best teaching method!
My pleasure!! I am self taught and mistakes are my greatest teachers lol
@@danceswithpitbulls You are sooo right! :D
I’m following you stitch by stitch.....
I love you needle books
I think I am going to make about 10 more or so for my November Art show.
Thank you, thank you. This is an awesome video.
Thanks- There for a minute I was going a bit crazy over it- luckily I calmed down hahahahah
This piece is very beautiful! How many threads for embroidery stitching do you use?
It depends entirely on the effect I want. I prefer to use only one strand of Pearl Cotton #5 for most things hough
Omg, I have been watching your videos while I'm sewing and now you are inspiring me to make a crazy quilt. Lol Great video 💙🐝💙
That is awesome! I will probably be cycling back into crazy quilts soon and doing some new projects. Notice I said PROBABLY lol
Leather punch?
Beautiful!
Thank you. I am a little bit obsessed with it right now lol.
@@danceswithpitbulls Oh me too!! I've been feeling better and cutting strips. I'm wanting to go out on a scavenger search now too!
What kind of needles were you using in this video?
Sharp needles with large eyes for the bigger threads and regular needles for everything else
Just before we do the crate and stitch you tell us there’s a trick you never do or maybe you did and I didn’t catch on because it’s a trick LOL
watch the end again to see the interfacing that is "the trick" not sure which video shows me using it though
What do you use for the backing of the blocks -are old sheets o.k ?- ordered the book you showed on stitches - many copies on eBay .👍🏻🌸🙋🏼♀️Kate in a ghost town Az
sheets are excellent for foundation squares although you can use most any fabric
Ou are not a idiot I lllove your work very much keep it up I’m Rhonda forde from New South Wales Australia I’m going to do these square I’m a learner but you by my side I will have a go thank you
Nice to meet you Rhonda. I am looking froward to hearing how your blocks turn out!
I am working one but I don't have the same colors as you have I am just working with what I got
So what colors are you using?
Many Thanks!
check your email
GORGEOUS!!!!
It's sitting on the bookshelf in my office now so I can stare at it while I do my wretched job lol
I got a bag full of beautiful old lace collars at a garage sale. Crochet, filet, battenburg, etc. Would you cut them up for crazy quilts or do they have value?
If it makes you feel better I would check prices on Etsy and Ebay but personally I would jump right in and cut them up!
Stupendi❤
Thank you so much!
Nice work!
Thank you I think it's so much fun! Oh if I only had more time.
we need a "How to make a needle book" video.
Good idea, I will work on one.
I've made a lot of crazy quilting but can't get the gist of putting things on like ribbon etc
practice practice practice. Rip it off and start over if you don't like it. You'll get it!
Oh no. Pause cam....don’t forget to pause those stitches next time.....I’m following you. Lol
Love@@
Be one with the thread, u r awesome
Lol and thanks.
My block is looking awesome stay tuned I will post on fb
I can't wait to see it!
do the centers of all of the blocks get clusters?
I will do half of them then decide if all of them will. These will go into a 9 block x 9 block
wall hanging.
Girl your on fire
You know it baby!
Pliers.... oh so that’s why they’re called needle nose pliers LOL
yeah because you try to strong-arm your needle with too heavy of a ribbon through 2 layers of fabric hahahahaha
I will try I just love hand embroidery any embroidery for that matter thank you
I hope you can tolerate my wonky stitches lol
Regarding the DMC thread, do you use a single thread (pulled apart) or use it as it came? I know stupid question
For delicate work I use one strand but honestly I like the DMC Pearl Cotton size 5 the best. You use that as is. I tend to use the 6 strand embroidery floss only when I have no other choice lol
What’s the knot trick?
give me the time stamp and maybe I will remember lol
Wanting to use a straight edge, is that OCD?
Nope do what makes you happy!
Yes....beads
Beads mmmmmmmmmmmm.
so beautiful!!
Thank you! Do you make crazy quilts?
I'm interested in crazy quilts. I'm still a beginner. I'm taking a lesson.
Ohhh do tell
shhhhhhhhhhhhh
