    Holy moley! I found you completely serendipitously and have now saved all these videos. Not that I'm new to crazies: i started my first one in 1982...to 1985. And I still have the battered one my sister sent to me in the early 90's), but I remembered that (still not fixed) I also still have two boxes and a tote full of satins and velvets, a bunch of random containers of buttons/sequins/jet beads/lace pieces/tubes of seed beads/etcetc. AND an oldfashioned handmade sewing cabinet (cabbage fabric covered, with rows of brass upholstery tacks holding it on, full of fabric pockets and wooden spool holding sticks. Opens like a book, 3 feet tall, with a latch, and still holding my original crazy quilting book and gobs of embroidery floss (10 and 15 cents). I'm going to haul it all out and let my crazyquilt OCD live again!
    Love the hacking up of thrift store finds myself!!!

    I love your squared, I am finishing up my 12 1/2 inch blocks of crazy quilts, and made 16! I put bling and pins, found a necklace I got from a boy when I was in the 6th grade, (I am now 75) am giving new meaning the the words bling, gold, silver, had an old non working Gruen watch from I can't remember- looks great, rhinestones, faux pearls and you name it, it was fun, all the seams are covered and the blocks are not empty. Thanks for your video.

    Just cup up my sons youth clothes yesterday to make a crazy quilt that I’ve said I was gonna do. He is now 21. Lol. My ex MIL told me to use a tiny piece of leather to put needles through. Works great. You have given me so much knowledge and motivation to finally do as I said I wanted.

    I am still happily working on my big pillow block, and watching you for inspiration! I think all us sewists UNDERSTAND completely, my sheer glee now, when all the stuff one could not part with- the bits of trim, the old jewelry one could not pass over at garage sales, the odds and ends, "oh this is nice I can use it one day" well YES yes yes, I am using it all now.

    If you use a teko-bari / awl to make your holes when using a stiff ribbon (not silk) it will save your hands immensely. Embroidery has always been my first passion.

Im wanting to make a few of those as gifts so im super excited your thinking of teaching me that. I know what you have works but matching threads and needle holes is a thing especially with beads. Im intimidated by the small hole beads cuz of the challenge of threading the itsy bitsy hole. Ok maybe if you know some threading tricks for aging eyes and the best needle threaders too. Thanks for sharing all your craftys.

    I got a bag full of beautiful old lace collars at a garage sale. Crochet, filet, battenburg, etc. Would you cut them up for crazy quilts or do they have value?

    • @danceswithpitbulls
      @danceswithpitbulls  5 років тому

      If it makes you feel better I would check prices on Etsy and Ebay but personally I would jump right in and cut them up!

    • @danceswithpitbulls

      I will do half of them then decide if all of them will. These will go into a 9 block x 9 block
      wall hanging.

    Regarding the DMC thread, do you use a single thread (pulled apart) or use it as it came? I know stupid question

    • @danceswithpitbulls
      @danceswithpitbulls  4 роки тому

      For delicate work I use one strand but honestly I like the DMC Pearl Cotton size 5 the best. You use that as is. I tend to use the 6 strand embroidery floss only when I have no other choice lol
