Travis, don’t give up. If there’s life, there’s hope. Your family loves you and the ppl from the internet are rooting for you!
Id love to hear you ask people, "How scary is the prospect of coming off of fentanyl/opiates/meth/crack/alcohol?" As a recovering addict, the thought of having to detox (usually non medically) is what kept me using. Those times waking up realizing "I'm in detox, and it's about to get bad" we're so terrifying that I just kept using one more day....and that mentality kept me sick for 15 years. You are a legend Mark.
U can do it..u just have to want to
To be honest with you. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m talking fent here which I didn’t even know was fent. I’ve been shooting dope for a decade and when I went to detox in July I tested positive for all fent. Same as my husband. We were getting sick from the fent. We were done. It wasn’t even good euphoria it made you pass out and want more when you wake up. If you do.
I was done. Cuts weren’t healing. I stopped being able to hit. I knew what would happen if We continued 4 months clean on the 3rd. The withdrawals didn’t even start hard until the second week and I walked through hell for 2 months. You need to get it in your head how sick you’re sick of being sick. I started using shrooms around a month in and it gave me hope. I micro dose now. And I pray for this man. We knew twins with a very similar back story as this man who are both dead because of fentanyl.
I agree...Recovery is all about Fear. I got 4 years on the 6th. Hope you are safe as well!
Luke, thank you for sharing your story. You are on the right path now. Positive vibes!
U can actually die trying to come/get off of fentanyl, Xanax & alcohol.
Seems like an honest, nice guy. I hope he finds strength to get well for himself and his family before its too late.

My daughter has been hooked on fentanyl for the last few years now, she was a great mother of my two grandchildren,a hard worker and a very loving and pleasant individual, we have not heard from her for quite some time now. This drug is a epidemic and destroys good people. So sad for those who get addicted.
I’m so sorry. Hope for better days ahead
Sorry Steve. Sorry for your daughter. Why do people suffering with addiction disappear and not communicate? Praying for your daughter.
Fentynol is a mother's nightmare and personal hell. I'm praying you get a good call.

when Travis started talking about and invisioning himself and his brother playing ball again on the beach like they did when they we're younger made me tear up. Hes closer than he was before this God appointment with Mark.

We use fentanyl in veterinary medicine all the time. It’s used as an analgesic. We used to use fentanyl latches but because of the abuse potential, by pet owners, who would pull the patches off and suck the fentanyl out of the patch. Then claim the dog removed it and needed a new one. So, we don’t use them any more. We use it now primarily as an iv for post-operative pain management.
This guy looks like Tom Cruise if Tom Cruise partied. Thank god they saved that dog. Hope it’s ok.
I had cousin named Travis, died from a fent laced press pill at 35. It was an accident and the dude he was getting high with survived. I'm no stranger to addiction, opiates included, but I was lucky enough to get out before the fentanyl bullshit. Please take care of yourself Travis, your family loves you.
I also have a business opportunity that could help you out all work from home stuff.. you can earn $750-$900 daily with your computer or cellphone.

Travis is a great guy! The first time i met him was in high school. He was younger so hung out with younger kids but we always went to the same parties and i said to myself, this kid is going somewhere! He was driven, in top physical shape worked out with him at our high school gym. He was an amazing football player. We all thought he’d be NFL. I’m praying for you Travis! I’m going to tell you something if you’re reading this. Today is the day you will get clean! You will quit today! You will put this behind you! You will heal! You are loved and we all want the best for you!!! Here’s to your new journey! Apply that force that draws you in the other way to go to the gym or meditate or do yoga! Let that be the switch that turns you the other way!!! God bless you my brother!!!

I saw something in him that gave me the impression, he's going to do this successfully. You're almost there bro, I see a champion spirit in your whole energy field. The pain is palpable and you're in touch with yourself and very aware. Go do that victory dance with your brother, use that strong spirit and live your truth!
When you're brain is fried from all the drugs.. you go on long story rants like 8:00 with the weirdest story lines and endings. All you can think is how high was this guy "to save a dog" or "almost killed it" he's out of it.
Coke and crack are basically the same drug. It’s always crazy to me how people treat them like they’re two completely different substances… "Coke": Cocaine hydrochloride "Crack": Cocaine base. And when he says crack is much more intense than coke, like the high, that’s just because most people snort coke and most people smoke crack, so it’s just the delivery system that makes crack more intense. If you inject coke, it’s actually much more intense than crack. So it’s wrong to say that crack is a more intense, dangerous drug than coke. They’re the same thing, the high is the same, just different levels of intensity wether you snort, smoke or shoot. But shooting coke will definitely fck you up as fast as smoking crack, if not faster.
Take care Travis dude. I am a struggling alcoholic. Having the addictive chromosome is a lonely and miserable existence. Please stay safe man.

You got this, Travis. You're a good guy who can easily beat this. Get away from Skid Row and find a good doctor who'll prescribe suboxone. No withdrawing from fentanyl and you can eventually taper off of that in time. You'll also have a clear mind.
Stay strong brother, recovery starts with that first step.

Travis, I think you're handsome
This one broke my heart. Great interview and thank you mark for the work you do. Incredible.
Imo, alcohol is the gateway drug. If I hadn't been partying all night I never would've tried any of the drugs I got into.
Having the physicality of a D1 football player opens up the opportunity of scaring project boys dealers out of their drugs.
You got this Travis!! Keep moving forward to the days of enjoying that feeling you felt being sober! Focus on your self well being and put all your energy in to that. Rooting for you!

"It takes away your passion." That's what we should be hammering home to kids
Shame? In fact, people are more likely to make up with someone who is ashamed of their mistakes. In one experiment, British psychologist Antony Manstead showed participants two videos, each showing a man knocking over a pyramid of toilet rolls in a supermarket. Once he showed that he was embarrassed about the mishap. The other time he didn't change his face. The result: The viewers liked the contrite clumsy better, would have even helped him. Similar reactions can be read in the comments under all the addict portraits. The question is: does this 43-year-old actually believe in getting sober?
I often watch these videos on my lunch break I have to say this time the grotesque story of a dog into fentanly made me laugh , (sad as that may be).
Are there any success stories about the people who came to LA because they wanted to get clean, and they did that with little to no relapse?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but LA seems like a terrible place to move to if you're intent is to be clean.
More than anything I wonder why do these people chose LA? Is it the access to programs there, or is it they subconsciously (or even consciously) weren't actually ready to get clean?
It's just such a common story, and its not like the reputation of skid row is a secret.
If you don't know, and you happen to see this, if they do move to LA can you ask a few people why they chose LA as their destination to get clean
I don’t care what ails you in life. Don’t go to California looking for the cure.
Gosh he could do this I hope, lean on your brother, wish him health and peace 🧡
This guy almost looks like Tom cruise. If he took a little more care of himself, he's pretty good looking.
He’s beautiful!!!
So happy I got clean. I know it’ll sound weird, but I used oxycodone to get off fentanyl and not have any withdrawals (this is what kept me and others from getting sober). Did those for about 3 days and stopped. I’m 8 months sober and have never used for longer than 3 months. I would do a month here and be sober for 2-3 weeks and back to it for 2-3 months and repeat. Trust me, the grass is definitely greener on the sober side. I enjoy the little things in life so much more now. I hate it, but am glad I went through it. Made me a stronger person

I wonder if he's completely estranged from his family at this point or if he could contact them (or at least his brother). It sounds like they have financial resources. Maybe they could get him in a rehab. Maybe he's burned them too many times though. That happens a lot. I hope he gets help.

It's really puzzling how people like Travis who have the entire world stacked in their favor, would choose to do dangerous highly addictive drugs. Maybe its the thrill seeking gene within them that tells them they're invincible to every falling down that dark hole. Although even though I was curious to experiment w/ drugs like marijuana, acid, mushrooms, peyote, hash & even speed, I knew that it was waaaay to dangerous to even try heroin once, seeing what devastation it created in people in my community.
💯 . I remember my Dad finding my pot and saying that it would lead to H. I promised myself that it never would. And I'm glad I kept that promise to myself.👋
It's a disease that affects all sectors of society.

Such a good looking guy with a big heart...it's sad how strong the addiction force is...I hope one day he can overcome it. He's worth more than that evil force.
To look at this guy, he doesn’t have the typical look most drug addicts have. I do hope he finds his own road to recovery. He still has his looks and has so much potential to lead a great life. I pray he finds his deliverance.
He has the eyes and mannerism
Interesting, bc his own description of his background is not the brutally tragic story so many of Mark's interviewees relate. Travis describes his family as "really solid." His analysis is that the chemical power of intoxicants superseded his normal, adequate childhood, unless there's early lurking trauma he's not revealing
