The actors/costumes here looks horrible ngl XD. I prefer the series version from Journey to the west 2011. Or the Monkey King 2 movie from 2016. Those were the best adaptations to me. I recommend y'all watching them!

I think someone told me that the monkey represent Sanzang's intellect, sharp but sometimes cocky. The piggy repersent his lust for materialistic things, which he control strictly but cannot banish completely. Sandy represent his fear, I thought I read somewhere that Sanzang actually abandon his journey a few times before he regret it and finally continuing his journey. The monsters represent dangers and temptations along the way.

3, i would say, all the rulers wanting to keep xuanzhang for themselves, when xuanzhang was on such an important mission to "find the truth" is basically the same as the demons wanting to eat tang san zang's flesh for immortality, preventing him from going west and thus saving the world. but i guess thats just my point of view.

I think it's better if you read the original story. I'd recommend watching OSP's videos on Journey to the West.
This Legend of pilgrimage to the West is the name of Monkey King's Story. In fact, they had to go through eighty-one disasters for Master Tang with his three apprentices and one horse which transformed by a Dragon King's son. It's one of the most popular novel which written by a Chinese scholar 460 years before.
What's interesting about this novel is that there are two very different systems of ghosts and gods coming together. Chinese children's childhood favorite!

Who has a lot of Knowledge about Wukong and Journey to the west ? I wont lie like some and try to act like i been a fan for years. I 1st heard about wukong when they had the 1st trailer to Black Myth Wukong i believe in 2019 i think E3 but could be wrong. But after I seen that and looked up the game i came to learn the game was based off Journey to the West, Im actually playing Black Myth: Wukong now im fighting Erlang ..
After the huge success of the game, bigger than they could imagine they signed a Trademark for 2 more titles based off Chinese Lore/History Black Myth: Jiang Ziya and i fprget the other title

So I think this takes place after kinda how the Monkey king 2 took place after the Monkey King: Havoc in heavens palace with Donnie Yen

So I just discovered The Monkey King: The Legend Begins (2022) which is a Hollywood adaptation of Havoc in heaven palace but it’s about someone telling the story of Havoc in Heaven palace to a kid & it’s in English.
