Pacific Encounter Refit REVEALED! What’s new aboard P&O’s Pacific Encounter?

- The P&O Cruises ship Pacific Encounter is in the drydock in Singapore and just got her 142m water slides installed!

From P&O: It’s no mean feat installing a 142-metre-long Twin-Racer waterslide and a 55-metre zipline atop Deck 16 on a cruise ship, however works are well underway on Pacific Encounter’s during her current dry dock in Singapore.
According to P&O Cruises’ Maritime Operations, Technical Director, Ken O’Callaghan, progress is swift and steady.
“We’re just over halfway through our statutory drydock and everything is going to schedule. Together with the incredible team at Sembcorp, we have over 500 people working across the ship at any one time to ensure we get Pacific Encounter back to Australia in perfect order, ready for our guests to once again enjoy,” says Ken O’Callaghan.
In addition to the installation of the slides and Edge Adventure Park, there are many other enhancements also underway during the ship’s drydock, including a new outdoor movie screen and sound system, satellite dishes for improved Wi-Fi, Automation systems, Stabilisers, Navigation systems & Life Saving Appliance (LSA) upgrades.

I wonder if/when P&O Australia will ever get their own newbuild ships instead of the continuous trickle down of hand-me-downs
Walk the plank: just a little additional note that while the Pacific Explorer’s “walk the plank” goes off the side of the ship, the activity aboard Encounter and Adventure are more like “walk the beam” without it actually going over the side. Still sounds pretty cool though - would you give it a go? 🛳️
Quite the change from previous life at Princess. I did my first cruise on this vessel in 2004 to Alaska...never forget !!

Glad they are updating the big screen and sound last time we went to watch a movie and couldn't hear it very well due to having lots off people behind us talking loud ect at the bar and food places as this is the only food place open packed at night and even moving closer it was still hard to hear hopefully this will help with the sound. And screen was in very bed shape too. Being on other ships and never had a problem.
She is beautiful and everyone up Queensland about all her amenities done ✅

This ship is an old Grand Class Princess ship, I love the Skywalker lounge, great to go for a morning read in...until everyone else discovers it!! Which Princess ship was she?, thanks Chris.

I’m booked on the Caribbean Princess which is basically the same ship in a different company 😭
Caribbean Princess is the only Grand Class Princess ship to have an extra deck. So 500 more passengers than the rest. we sailed on Caribbean August 2022 to Greenland, NYC round trip. Enjoy.
