Hi Jonathon, Best tip I can give is to salt bath all fish before adding to the system.
I salt bath any new fish and if I see any fin rot, body lesions or fuzzy lesions I will salt bath all of my fish. A salt bath will remove all external protozoa, bacteria and fungi. Best to prevent white spot than try to treat it in a aquaponic setup. 1 cup of Pool Salt to 10 litres is a 2.5% salt bath. Add a vigorous airstone and observe the fish closely. Remove the fish after 2 to 10 minutes or if they roll over or look very stressed. Then place directly into the tank. I find this invigorates my trout. They jump out of the water at feed time the day after a salt bath. Some body lesions may require a repeated salt bath weekly. After hot weather my trout sometimes develop fin rot and fuzzy lesions. A salt bath cleans them up totally.
My 3600 litre system is wrapped in hessian with soaker hoses along the top and impact sprinklers above the setup. 1 hose line wets the hessian while the sprinkler sprays from above. Run the cooling system for 10 to 20 minutes in the evening and the morning during hot weather and if needed once or twice during a very hot day. This way i keep the water well below 25C. I do not feed the trout during hot weather. My trout survive summer due to my cooling system and salt baths.

not really, as long as the fish water pumps into the grow beds, the vegetables get fertilizer from it and in turn produce algae and duckweed, which clean the fish tank and provide them with food.

Can you share same link to the duckweed fish feeding system, please?

Nice Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (do a google search)? It is an awesome one off guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got amazing success with it.

Yes the tanks and grow needs do require periodic cleaning to remove solid waste.

Excellent video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (google it)? It is a good one off product for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my good mate called Gray finally got astronomical results with it.

It is an awesome exclusive guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my best friend Jordan got excellent success with it.

i love how ppl, including this guy, call aquaponics a closed loop system. you have to feed the fish last i checked so that is not very "closed loop" if you ask me. go on vaca for a month and don't feed the fish and lets see how closed loop this system really is lol. i am a supporter of aquaponics but until ppl stop marketing it as the environmental savior or the next get rich quick scheme it won't work. funny how all these videos skip the fish feeding part part because if you skimp on feed quality then you might as wekll use hydro mutes and do a hydro grow because you are missing the benefits of aquaponics, which is natural fertilizer. unfortunately most commercial aquaponics ventures feed the fish crap like low quality feed type corn meal etc... not to mention it is not cheaper than soil and fertilizers regarding feeding.
