Resale value is overrated! Ukiangalia inflation, asset depreciation, cost of maintenance...it makes more sense to buy a car with the intent to keep it. I'd rather have a "ndimu" that makes me cry when I go to the garage but gives me a smile each time I drive it rather than have a boring car ati juu ya resale value! Kwani are you buying a car for your next customer ama for yourself?

    Excellent work with a CK
My two cents on Mark X, Fuga and Teana: another contributing factor to bad resale value is the frequent overheating with the older models. When you test drive, the mark x will usually have this unbearable squeaking from the rear suspension and the Nissans will have knocking sounds from the front suspension/steering, which push the selling price even lower. Disco3 onwards is a money pit. Diesel Touaregs achana nazo. Keep doing what you do.

Other than the suspension having problems, the Mark X is a great car. Minimal engine trouble. I have owned the grx130 for 3yrs and all I have done is basic servicing and changed suspension, thats all, I even don't believe it. Suspension cost 40k, good quality

Unless you are a broker I have never understood why Kenyans buy vehicles for resale value. If you are buying a car chances are you are thinking long-term. By the time you have your car for a long time when looking to upgrade not necessarily trying to get much money from it.

If you are worried about fuel consumption for a specific car model, that means you haven't reached the class to own such a vehicle. There are many factors to think of when buying a car and I'm sure resale value is not the most critical one.

  • @geoffreychege9621

I can comment about 3 VWs
    1. 2008 VW Tiguan TDI 6speed manual. This was one of the best none-Benz Euro imports I ever got Ex-UK
The performance remains excellent todate and the owner is content. It will cost a bit more at the service interval but it is amazing in every other way.
    2. 2006 VW Touareg 2.5 TDI - Another sterling performer todate. Parts now getting easier to get and also cheap.
    3. 2010 VW Touareg 3.0 TDI - Still performing quite like new todate.
These vehicles MUST be DRIVEN at least once monthly. Am talking good hard drive kama Namanga hivi as that is the easier way to deal with carbon accumulation. These are all ex-UK cars and they are built for a lot of highway driving. Hapa Nairobi kwa jam they tend to clog up.
These ones I can vouch for but with a caveat. Erick will agree with me that mechs hapa NBO are a major reason why these cars fail too soon. Euro diesels are built to last. If you buy locally used chances are it's already been abused so avoid unless yiu know the history.

This is great content. I love this very much. However, I believe people who are interested and able to afford high end luxurious cars(in this case not the affordable ones) don't look at resale value and prefer zero mileage vehicles. Resale value mostly matters to the middle class. The affluent buy cars and keep them in garages till they become classics or vintage for their kinsmen, that's when they truly become valuable. I've never seen any Japanese car amongst the most expensive vintages ever auctioned, that means brands matter. On May 5 2022, the world's most expensive car the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was auctioned for $142 million. I'm relatively new on the channel and I love your content. I would like to know whether you cover content on ultra luxurious vehicles in the calibre of G wagon, Porshe, maybach, rolls Royce, Bentley etc. I would also like to know if you bring SUV comparisons and take them for extreme challenges( which I know depends on availability of sponsors) kindly. I truly love your channel in that you're the first kenyan enlightening people on vehicles. You're like our own bred Car wow or top gear only with limited resources which i pray and hope will grow as the channel continues giving content.

Are your reservations the same for the VW Toureg V8 TDI, as the v6? It might not be very available but what do you think?

Life can't all about resale value, reliability and fuel consumption. Like the spouse wa fuga ama ku teana. If you are happy, then happy you are.
    " Kunywa Maji Eh
    Ukimaliza kunywa pombe
    Peleka maisha pole pole
    Raha jipe mwenyewe zitoke
    Songa ugali Eh
    Foundation weka ya samaki
    Ni katikati ya January
    Kula ukashirishe kamati "
