    Excellent work, with a CK.
    My two cents:
    1. Definition of money pit: something on which you keep having to spend a lot of money, especially when it may be a waste of money. Meaning, despite expense, you don’t get output. A good example would be the Disco3 with the air suspension. When the suspension fails, you spend a lot to fix it, only for it to fail again even when driven carefully and so on. Or a Jaguar whose transmission always requires expensive repairs and keeps failing. Or a diesel Touareg that keeps getting clogged DPF and injectors: very costly to fix and will keep getting clogged because of our low quality diesel.
    2. There are cars that are costly to maintain, but are not necessarily money pits. A good example is the Mercedes S class. Routine maintenance parts and consumables are not cheap. I wouldn’t classify this car as a money pit; this car gives you excellent service between the maintenance intervals. The fact that you can buy it relatively cheap doesn’t mean the maintenance is cheap. It remains to be a luxury vehicle and the owner must have the means to maintain and run it.
    3. Then there are cars that join the money pit list due to abuse. For example, a manual transmission Corolla could become a money pit if the driver has the habit of resting his left foot on the clutch or holding the car on a hill using the clutch. Or a Mercedes S class that is constantly driven very fast on potholed roads.
    4. Guys should not fear buying used German cars - only avoid certain models (e.g 6 cylinder versions of the small sedans or diesel versions), beware that their maintenance can be involving and the schedule needs to be strictly followed; and that you need to carefully select what you buy (pre purchase inspection is mandatory.

@@brianmwirigi200 it is difficult to give a yes or no answer. Many factors to consider. Generally Mercs (and other competitors such as BMW and Audi/VW) are solid cars. However Mercs from 1998 to 2007 can be troublesome with electrical glitches and mechanical faults. Then specific models can be troublesome. Example is the GLC (X253). But generally they are solid.

The 02 330i was the sweetest thing ever, I traded it in at 435,000 kilometers, was still running like new. The 5 series 545i died on me nikaiwacha kwa garage, never looked back. The X5 failed a couple of times; rear airbags and fuel pump, it ran like a dream. All this repairs were done at the dealership ONLY!!! Costs a lot but hakuna kubahatisha, they know the faults in their cars.

Hey, Erick. A BMW fan here about to throw stones 😂😂😂.
    1. Go to some of the reputable BMW specialist garages and see how many units have chronic issues that qualify to call the newer BMW's as money pits.
    2. I am part of a group where members we're sharing milage of their cars and 300k kilometres on these so called money pits? Doesn't that cry reliable.
    3. Newer BMW's are more electronic and the same applies to all other brands. Question do we have mechanics who know how to fix them or as country we are trying to push a mediocre agenda of don't buy new stick to the old mechanical only cars. And if the latter is what's happening will we buy cars when the EVs coming knocking ama as a collective will we cry "serikali saidia"
    4. I would classify you as a sentimental. Loving the good old days of NA engines, straight six and all mechanical vehicles. And if I am right then don't review modern cars. A few videos back you talked smack about the N20 engines that come in the newer BMW's and your ignorance did show. All vehicle manufacturers are building 4 cylinder engines and by virtue of them being small doesn't automatically qualify them as unreliable.
    5. If you plan to advise Kenyans about German cars and the glaring cost of maintenance be more committed to the job and don't use blanket judgement. e.g the N20 engine in the BMWs needs the timing kit changed if it was never done and the vehicle has done about 100K. Such detailed analysis and breakdown of issues that brands have give a better picture of a car. Buying an eight years old car is advisable since it's been in the market long enough for people to know what the issues are and help you be proactive about the cars preventive maintenance. Also on a side not how you speak in detail about Nissan CVT issues makes me wonder if you are more knowledgeable about the JDM vehicles more than the Germans because you seem to be more concerned with stereotyping the Germans than taking about the real issues they face thus making your advice on the same moot

you seem knowledgeable about BMW's you seem like that guy who would know what to change incase something went wrong with your bmw or where to take it incase it had a major problem or whom to call incase you needed a sparepart you seem to know the tips and tricks of BMW's that is why you can really have yours for a really long time and have it not give you any character development
Because remember this German machine are highly over engeneeired almost everything in them and how of our mechanics can handle them....?
remember the common mwananchi or a first time car buyer does not have the vast knowledge you have to know when to change this or that in this German machines or where specifically to take them.... The common mwannchi wants a car that they will drive na ikileta shida ata kama ni mashambani a local mechanic can fix it lakini kama ni BMW lazima flatbed ikuje then ibebwe hadi kwa your specific mechanic ama your specific mechanic aje hadi ocha which is highly unlikely considering the class of those garage
I'm not so knowledgeable about BMW's but sincerely speaking how readily available are their spare parts and if you are fortunate enough how much do they cost....? can you compare them to a toyota or Honda or mazda....?
and finally i know of a certain Bmw model where it so highly engineered such that as the car ages the battery of the car gets old too so the computer of the car varies power from the battery to the car components so that the power that gets to them is constant as they are getting power from a new battery whereas the power is from an old battery.... so when you finally decide to change the battery and replace it with a new one you are supposed to let the car know(the computer) by resetting it.... or else the power from the new battery might fry your electricals over time one by one because it has alot of power compared tobits predecessor........ just imagine you cannot even change your battery in peace and if you don't take care your wallet will pay for it and how many of our mechanics are aware of this.....?
buying second hand German machines should come with a (buy at your own risk label)

Big up Andrew. Well spoken like 10 elders. This guy has a habit of trashing European cars and displaying his ignorance by featuring cars that are extremely reliable. Simply stated, German cars, and European cars for that matter are not doggers. They speak OEM. I think the pure turn off for me was saying the Grand Cherokee rates as one of the worst. Jeez! Oliskia wapi? What do you know about these cars? Chrysler went a notch higher when under Daimler and made the 2013 onwards Jeep GC a way superior off-road to permit the Mercedes ML/GLE end users shy of going off-road to venture more easily. The SUV that challenges the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the D4 but I won't start that convo. What I'm saying is, don't try to rank by shooting poorly researched articles, you will loose as well as keep lying to your audience

Heyy Wokabi lemmi narrow this down for you; I wonder why a company that produces some of the most unreliable cars is still up and running, Kenyans usually look for a car that they can abuse and misuse. Nissan, VWs, AND Bimas are not meant for that lot. THey are meant for vehicle lovers. Toyota lovers are men who marry women that are vulnerable and can be abused....hahaha... After all the 4.4L V8 2022 range rover runs on a BMW power plant.. I mean it can't be that bad. It would be nice to quantify what money pit means. E.g. how much cost in service should you pay for it to be considered expensive? Alternatively, get mechs from those different brands to compare costs and issues in a debate and let the audience decide. We all have our biases and there's always hearsay when un-common brands are concerned.
