Thx for the review. If you are a heavier rider its sometimes hard to find the best equipment size. Im between 120-130kg / 260-280 lbs and i just started learing on the spaceskate. After your video i think about buying a infinity 76 oder maybe even a 84. I mean the 1500cm Spaceskate is sugguested by SS to normal riders, so in theory i need more power. And maybe after learing i could keep the 84 as an extrem Lowwind Wing and my girlfriend could use it later on for learning wingfoiling with it. Do you think the 84 is way to big or not ?

I'm 97kg and the 76 made my life a lot easier, the extra 500sq cm on the 84 should definitely help at your weight. Obviously I can't say with certaint because I've never ridden it. One word of caution is that I rode mine strapless, and i was able to move my front foot forward to compensate for the extreme amount of lift.

Thanks for this review...great information. I've been toying with the idea of getting a foil in the off season to be ready for the spring/summer and the Space Skate 65 had caught my eye as there are some deals to be found. However, your review has me reconsidering. I'm ~180 lbs so don't necessarily need the extra lift, but do you think the Infinity 76 would still benefit a lighter weight rider?

Glad it was helpful, getting into foiling was a bit of a mystery for me, so I'm glad I can help make it easier for someone else! How often do you ride? First things first, it's definitely possible to learn on just about any wing, the space skate is probably on the bigger and easier end of the spectrum compared to what people used to learn on. I bought it because it was way easier to ride than the 3-4 wings I'd tried during lessons. That being said, larger surface area and higher aspect ratio wings have slower foil up speeds and more stability. That means when I tried the Infinity 76, I was able to get out on a smaller kite, and it was more easy to balance on while riding. The down side is that you get overpowered more quickly if the wind picks up, and the wing basically can create too much lift for your weight. Given that I'm 30+lbs more than you, I'd be reluctant to push to buy it without being able to try it first. If you can, give it a test run, if not, you might want to consider the Apollo 60 wing, which has a 3.3 aspect ration (vs the 3.7 of the Infinity 76 and 2.8 of the space skate). The other benefit of the Apollo 60 is that it'll allow you to grow and progress on it, while on the Space Skate 65 you'll want to move to a faster wing pretty soon after you get up and riding.

is the RideEngine Manta 76 the same as the Slingshot HG 76 except for colors? Is it same construction and weight?

What do you think about the Slingshot H2 wing? It's supposed to be a somewhat stable and slower wing that could be good to learn on for people a bit under 190 lbs, more like 170 lbs or so.

I haven't ridden it, so I'm just looking at the specs and telling you what I think, not speaking from first hand experience. 960cm is a bit on the small end for what people are learning on these days, the space skate (their recommended begginer wing) is 1500cm... which is probably too much. I think you'd be able to learn on it, but something like the apollo 60 in the 1120cm range would be more stable and easier to learn on. I do like that the H2 is higher aspect ratio, so that will help with some of the stability, and all the reviews say its rides slow and more stable that you would expect. Either way, you can definitely learn on it, and there are other wings that would definitely be much harder to learn on.

@@erbartlett Thanks! Yes, I tried the 76 one time and found it to lift faster than I could handle, but it was only one time, so maybe it would be better with some more practice. The Apollo sounds great too.

@@towatch1925 good point. One reminder on wings with more low speed lift is that the straps and board need to be tuned better. I ride strapless so if a wing has too much lift, I can just move my foot forward. If you are riding straps you might need to adjust where the foil is on the tracks. The Apollo would probably be just right for your weight, it’s a smaller version of the 633 wing that people rave about. It’s the wing I’m riding now and I love it

@@erbartlett It's very confusing, between the Apollo, the Moses 633, the new Phantasm 633, and even the Space Skate. They all have similar descriptions, and it's very difficult to know which would be best for you, or if there's really even a perceptible difference at a weekender skill level. Probably the Apollo is the cheapest option, followed by the Phantasm 633, followed by the Moses at the most expensive and most fragile but high performing, but at the end of the day it's all theory until you try them out. Thanks for your insight though, it helps anyway.

@@towatch1925 so the Apollo 60 and the space skate are part of the hover glide line, which is the lower cost setup. The phantasm and the Moses wings are much more expensive carbon setups. As a beginner you’re going to crash your foil into stuff and you’ll mess up a carbon wing, so I’d recommend going for the hover glide setup which is really cheap if you go used. Now on top of all that, the Apollo 60 is basically a copy of the Moses 633 wing.. so you can get the same feel for quite a bit cheaper. I got the Apollo 60 for like $300 used. The space skate and the Apollo are pretty different, the space skate is a beginner wing that’s not as stable as the infinity 76 and it’s top speed isn’t that high, so you’ll outgrow it. If you’re lighter I’d start with the Apollo 60, if you’re over 200lbs I’d start with the Infinity 76
