the Orange MicroDark and the Joyo Bantamp are much better and even cheaper in this mini-head range. And they were already on the market when H&K released the Spirit series ...so idk what market research they did, but seems like none.

@@Heka41 likewise, I have two Joyo Bantamps. The only upside to this thing is the increased power output, 5 more watts at 8 ohm, and 50 at 4 ohm. If someone has a multi-fx pedal with amp sims, or a decent distortion or preamp pedal, the Spirit of Vintage or the Stompman as a pedal platform makes more sense, imo. This thing just sounds like shit.

You have the most metal name of anyone I've ever heard !! Fucking A !! Do you want to start a band?? Everyone has an "in home studio" these days and an actual band that plays live is quickly becoming obsolete or dated. One more thing , are those sideways pickups in your guitar !?
I'd sooner use the spirit of vintage for a pedal platform, tbh, as that thing has a very convincing clean/edge of breakup amp sound. Otherwise, the Stompman is actually better suited to that task, and the Ampman floor units work better and sound better as far as something more complex than a glorified (or intended) pedal power amp partly because they have an FX loop, partly because the distortion isn't shit, which is ironic because they use a lot of the same tech and circuit designs. I think the "Spirit of..." mini amps missed the mark overall.
I didn't really like it overall the punch wasn't there... it just doesn't deliver a smooth metal tone, thanks for the review.
Yeah, it's just a toy to practice with. 25w at 8ohms. Probably class-D. Doesn't even have an effects loop. Costs $200 in the USA.
Much better to spend a little more and get a Boss Katana head to practice with. Katana can do so much more, and sounds way better.
Can't really compare this toy to a 100-watt tube amp. Something like a ENGL Fireball 100 is $1,900.
Yeah I had the black spirit and I wasn't impressed at all. I'd stick with the Bluguitar Amp1.

Orange Micro Dark, (used) Blackstar HT1, Boss Katana. All way better for the same price. The sagging feature is a little too ambitious, doesnt sound very good. Appreciate your honesty Euge

Same as with their floor-mounted amp series (the ampman) I just don't think that they hold up the H&L Legacy at all except in build quality. The tones are.....well.......bloody awful 🤣Maybe do a Dime and goose it with an eq but even then, I doubt that it will be something most people would like.

Saan sen ehkä huomenna käsiini, ni postaan (kahvikuppi kädessä, btw), että onko ne nyt niin hyviä. Sulla on nyt maine pelissä.

Yeah that's not the Mesa Mark V 25 watt by a long shot. Thanks for the review though Euge. That amp is ok for a kid just starting out I'd say but not a players amp. Definitely honky and muddy. Someone could probably run an average modeler into it and eq around it.

Thank you for the honest review with no bullshit. It's just not a good sounding amp, and even great players can't make a bad amp sound like something it's not. No point in trying to pretend.

No. But the designer of the (lame) Black Spirit amp now works for Bluguitar.
Not to my knowledge. His own BluGuitar amps are awesome. The AMP1 Iridium is my main amp live 👌.

Although I always liked H&K amps and used quite a few of them, I am not really liking this mini series at all. I tested them at Session Music in Germany myself and it was quite underwhelming. However, what I can recommend to you to test one day is the Tubemeister 5 head. Completely different thing and really good sounding tube head. I still have it.

Oh god, right of the bat it sounded very suspicious, lol. I had ordered a Joyo Bantamp VIVO that I had high expectations for but It was a disappointment to my ear.
you'll probably have better luck with the Zombie, Meteor, Tweedy, or Jackman, especially in their two channel revision. From what I've seen and heard, the VIVO is not their best offering. Also, the bluejay would probably make great pedal platform clean amp for multi FX/ampsims/distortion pedals. I have a Meteor and a Jackman. The Meteor I boost with a Precision Drive and the Jackman either gets boosted by an MT-2 (a la crowbar) or an HM-2. I use an ABY pedal to run both amps at once.
