I have the sweetest ferret ever and I love her so very much. She was purchased from a pet store by my daughter. She was the runt of the litter but was the sweetest most active of the bunch. My daughter unfortunately doesn’t think before she gets pets and I end up with them. I have 7 cats, 3 from her and the other rescues!(don’t worry she’s banned from getting more pets by her husband) I am an avid animal lover and I believe they should be treated like family! Having a ferret is way different from cats! She spent the first year of her life mostly in a cage. She was very well taken care of by my daughter but she was pregnant and a new born took her time. She acquired her while pregnant! So Rat is the ferrets name, my husband and I hate it because she is not a rat so we call her Ratta!she was only given kibble by my daughter. She has been with us for over 8 months and she will not eat meat and has taken to liking cat food. I have tried freeze dried buffalo and venison from a woman who makes it especially for smaller animals with no additives and she won’t eat it! She free roams our home and we have a problem with her going to the bathroom every where! We have started putting her in her cage when we see her back up behaviors but she still is going everywhere! She also wants to cuddle with the cats and they do play with her but they are older and don’t like that she wants to get underneath them and they run away! I worry about the lack of other ferrets in her life.She has recently also started biting us at night hard enough that it’s waking us, repeatedly. This was the other reason I started putting her in her cage at night. I feel horrible because from your videos I believe that her biting is normal play behavior. She doesn’t draw blood and let’s go if we verbally let her know. She’s so loving , smart , funny but I feel like she’s missing out. Sorry I know this is long and I stated numerous issues but I am at a loss for what to do. I thought about finding someone with other ferrets but I love her so very much. I would obviously do whatever is best for her but it’s not a guarantee that she would be loved and taken care of and that is my primary concern!

I have a question about taking care of my ferret. I have tried giving him scrambled and hard boiled egg. But all he does is sniff it. I'm just trying to find a healthy little treat I can give him, but he doesn't seem interested. He also seems to be afraid of water. I'm not too sure how to tackle that either. I'm a new ferret owner. I have only had him for a few months. If you could help me out, that would be great.
#themodernferret new ferret owner here, what do I do if my ferret doesn’t like the oil I use? I use pickle juice, this one combo of oils suggested by a ferret rescue team where I got mine from. Been dealing with this issue for a while by catching them while they sleep when they are in good position for cutting!

Hi l have a smal girl ferret, she itch herself many times, l think vhen she changed foam from winter to spring this is very normally. But she lick my hands and faced very much very irritating because it tickle me a lot. Beside this behaviour she is very kind and loving ferret never bite when we play except my toes which she likes to nibble. But why all her lick. I apologise for misspells but l am from Denmark

I bought mine at the mall! It was in the window of a store and I RAN inside! Am so excited to have mine on my kitchen wall. ❤
