This is the unity version, it looks updated compared to the original daggerfall (higher definition, 3D environnement, longer render distance, improved lighting etc)
The fact that things like climbing, jumping, etiquette, backstabbing, medical, streetwise, running and different languages are actual skills show that even Morrowind was streamlined compared to it's predecessor and how much of an RPG Daggerfall is.
Elder Scrolls Daggerfall.. Unity.. apply. Edit unity settings.ini ... smaller dungeons. Two quality of life changes that will change the game for the better, forever. This game doesn't respect the player's time and so you need to force the game to respect you.
The awful 3d map also didn't help in those huge dungeons once you travelled far enough into it. So stressful trying to read that mess lol Although, I'd say back when it came out, there were a good few people who were delighted to have such a massive timesink.
RE: Morrowind in the future, if Michael Kirkbride's C0DA is anything to go by, eventually Nirn started breaking down and everyone evacuated to live in colonies within Masser (one of the moons). They pretty much came up with a mana-based internet and the Dunmer used it to track house ancestry. Besides space travel a thing he tried to avoid getting into what sort of tech they had, but he also wrote about KINMUNE, a mining construct from the 5th era that was warped back in time and became the brain of the Mantella (Daggerfall's Mantella, that is.)
A few additions, at least as far as I'm aware: - Nirn didn't start breaking down so much as it was mostly destroyed by the Numidium - The 'mana-based internet' is the Dreamsleeve, which is a sort of outer realm of consciousness. Messages are sent as a sort of memories, or "memospores", for example. Dagoth Ur presumably resides here and dreams himself into reality using the Heart of Lorkhan as his focal point, and Michael Kirkbride's other writings imply that it plays a part in a cycle of reincarnation. (The Mythic Dawn Commentaries in particular states "We mortals leave the dreaming-sleeve of birth the same") - KINMUNE comes from the 9th Era, and the more common theory is that it became the Eye of Magnus, not the Mantella. Or at least I've never heard of a theory stating Kinmune to have anything to do with the Mantella, as the Mantella was more or less a giant soul gem created by Zurin Arctis to power the Numidium.
