Hello from Ireland, James. I like that Fiat Tipo, i had one of the old ones, and a Punto lol. Brilliant stuff James. Im waiting for, Joe's video at the minute. 🙏🙏👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏
The Tipo is a great car, just never sold well in the UK. The 1.4 petrol engine is pretty much bullet proof, 6 speed gearbox is decent and reliable. Parts are cheap. I have owned one for over 5 years and had no issues.
I have a Tipo Sport and it is a lovely car. Bought it pre-registered in 2020. Other than services and two new front tyres not had to do anything to it. Still looks as good now as when I got it.
Check the coolant header tank for cracks. My 2015 mokka 1.4 had this issue. Luckily, it was cracked on the top, so I didn't lose too much coolant before noticing the issue
Those Tipos were under 10 grand new (even less if you got a pre reg) and always designed to be very cheap motoring, based on Alfa Giulietta platform i believe. Possibly the pinnacle of bang for your buck if you wanted maximum space and spec brand new for the lowest price. Be interesting to see how its held up with all those miles on.
can anyone help me? trying to find a video that was either on this channel or saving salvage about a guy that was doing a scam of buying cars and then returning them after several months under the distance selling regs (since he had bought them over the phone without seeing them).
Limp mode on those? A friend has one. Always did it when he turned around at his business unit. Garage couldn't find the fault, although the clue was there. I suggested that they took a look at the steering sensors. Shared circuits mean that a fault on one component may show up or not somewhere else. I was right, they checked the sensor and it was faulty, had it replaced and the problem was solved.
I had a Tipo while my Alfa was in for a service they are quite nice for the price, its a shame they didnt sell that well Had a look at Mokkas when my friend was looking to replace her car, they are SO uncomfortable!
The majority of these cars are what have been p /x at dealerships and there is no way they'll retail them either due to condition, expensive fauts, or mileage.
Never just jump in because something looks a bargain, it'll have a low reserve for the vendor to get rid, unless your a good mechanic or it's just a cheapie and you can afford to blow. Don't hang around in the sale, be with the car in line when the keys come out, hopefully you've got a few mins to check it over then. Don't buy anything without the proper coolant level and colour, car shouldn't loose any, if it's low, forget it, check vendor, finance company is dodgy as it could be hand back due to big issues, or repo, hardly likely to be looked after. Get that bonnet open, look underneath, I got caught with a 16 plate mokka 1.4,massive oil leak from head area last year at auction, if only I'd looked underneath. Before going run all the cars thru mot checks, do absolutely all you can. Modern auctions are a nightmare, only buy direct main dealer, your in with a good chance then. Unfortunately just stood around chatting at the block and jumping in is a recipe for failure. I bought a fiesta diesel before Christmas, checked everything, gave 1400 quid, seemed OK, then it started loosing compression, I'd already motd it, paint, usual stuff, next thing I'd scrapped it, blew 1500 quid. I ended up loosing 750 on my mokka purchase at auction, sold it to a pole trader for export. Good luck mate with those anyway. You'd have been better keeping that polo, ha, ha.
Totally agree - The main reason these cars are being auctioned is because they have issues that the vendor doesn't want to deal with - I always bought main dealer trade ins. I realise that's not so easy now but auctions are a nightmare.
@rogerbarrett9920 I've got 20 cars stood, all from the auction, it's a nightmare, they push you right up and sometimes there are such nasty faults it's unbelievable.
@@roystonvehicles9129 , I retired from being a tech at a Renault main dealer but bought quite a few traded in cars that the sales decided were too old for their forecourt sales. So Even 40 years ago often made £500 just by servicing and valeting them. I went to a few auctions with a dealer friend and most vehicles he bought were not very good. Always had issues and that was years before they got all the modern electronic equipment like nowadays. For the last 30 years all I've ever bought for myself is Honda or Mazda, never had a problem that I couldn't fix myself without spending too much.
Obviously everyone is different but I’d walk out of that car finance sale it’s just not worth it everyone revved up to pay the money and the cars are all from Oodle Car Finance / Zuto / Ad Finance I’d rather buy from main dealer and direct fleet.
Views is what pays so not such an issue really. Would be nice too have more but would not earn me anything and as a Dealer doing UA-cam rather than UA-camr doing cars I can only put out what happens , not creating specifically for UA-cam
Watch out for finance cars bud, snatch backs, maybe parked up due to faults, if someone can't make his payment you can be sure that cars not even vaguely been serviced, usually no history, one key. Hand backs, well as you know, serious faults, finance company taken it back. Maybe some (maybe) come to end of say pcp and good cars handed back, but not many. I've had a few finance repos and they've been rough, stick to well known main dealer p ex at auction, bit more expensive, but your in with a chance, I like vantage p ex at Aston barclay tbh, genuine main dealer p ex and they've all been OK.
Fancy a Mokka. But have to do a lot more research on their faults. Checked the reg on your's. Road tax seems a bit high, for a 1.4 , The one's I have been looking at are usually £195. See you in the next one. Cheers.

Hmm, not sure about the purchases James. Nothing against Tipo’s, but they’re very unlikely to be on someone’s wish list are they 🤷🏼♂️. The Mokka’s haven’t been that successful for you have they?
You've had enough experience of corsa engines bud to know they need avoiding, 1.4 turbo in the mokka is a corsa engine, chain, oil pressure, headgasket, turbo, if that engines been overheating a lot you'll be better off with a 2nd hand unit, that ones probably being dogged up with sealant to get it thru. Mike brewer, balloons, all that hype and your the poor trader needing an engine, hopefully not. At the auction I go to it's all 'solutions' 'partners' 'logistics' all that crap, then you blow up on the way home....
Not much honesty, man of their word, if I'm a poorer person and all that from the dodgy trader who's put that mokka in G3, he's probably watching your video, harsh? Welcome to the motor trade bud.
@ChopsGarage yes bud, I really hope it's just say a thermostat housing, at one time I'd get loads of corsas in and was always doing head gaskets and swopping engines, I'll not buy any more mokkas after that last one, dropped 750 quid on it.

1.4 insignia had the same problem with engine loss. It was the EGR cooler leaking.

Wonder how many people noticed the bmw centre cap spinning when stopped, tipo looks a good buy, dont know much about them though

Chops, did you check water dropped Vauxhall, or did temp climb, how did you know to look, or just constant need check a Vaux/GM!
They are a bargain because the car tax rises coming in April are eye watering.
Why was the rear wheel centre spinning on the M5 whilst sat stationary 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tipo rear discs /rear shocks Think that may have been a Taxi to do 35,000 from may 2023 to may 2024 or done some serious commuting

I struggled to follow this video. If possible why not caption the cars with the final hammer price.
I really couldn't hear you over the auctioneer.
Will do
I heard everything?
Some of those cars like the sportage hardly anything between auction and retail. I sold my audi a5 in 2024 for 4.5k next day he had it up for 10K.
JLR cars prices have hit the rocks.
I've got a 2.2 diesel freeloader in limp, that's coming up electronic turbo actuator.
Nice, and hopefully some stock that will shift nicely
That’s about as close to being at an auction as we can get without being at the auction - enjoyed it - thanks!
