Al, you are such a hard worker and a real inspiration to the kids. May they be inspired when they see the fruits of your labor. Gina you are such a good wife and support to Al. You also inspire your daughter and don’t hold her back when she helps out in the kitchen and the farm. God bless you all!

Nice job today. You guys have the right combination for UA-cam success, a little with the animals, some construction, cooking and the wonderful interaction with the whole family. And, meanwhile, you are building a great homestead. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us.

I always make lasagna with dry noodles. I leave a little space at the ends for them to expand. I add a bit more moisture to the sauce. I love that the noodles boil in sauce rather than water.

I suppose it all depends on the animals. I had to rescue a baby lamb from getting butted to death once. I try not to assume anything any more. And chickens.. ohh man! They will turn on their own in a heartbeat.

Gina - you don't have to cook the lasagna noodles. Put them in there raw and they cook while it bakes! :)
Just leave a little space between them, so they can swell. Easy peasy.

And Al, you are so blessed to have Gina fix such wonderful meals to strengthen your wary body after these long days of climbing. 😁 Was wondering how many miles you climbed.lol. Amen to that Tom Scott. Using my hands for whacking things has left me with painful arthritis in the base of my thumbs that isn't going away. Mind you, that was from using hand tools for the last 46 years, now there are so many great power tools available that people stand a better chance. Stay safe everyone.

Gina here's a tip cut the cook time short by a minute or two for the noodles and leave them in the water. Pull them out of the water and place in casserole dish......they won't stick together till you pull them out of water. I do this and love your idea of spinach in the sauce I am going to try that in mine next time. Thanks for the idea. Hugs from Minnesota

Al, I agree with Tom Scott... you need to carry a hammer or mallet with you instead of your hand. I used to be a helicopter engine mechanic among other jobs. Now I have pretty bad carpal tunnel that may require surgery from nerve damage from not being careful. Take care of your hands and wrists. Us old people know from our mistakes. BTW, I love how you and Gina work together (where she can) and I love how you talk to all of your animals. I agree with Gina about being on ladders. (Me personally) I would rather hang out of a helicopter (which I did when I was in the Army) than climb up a ladder.

Very nice build so far. One thing I'd like to suggest is to add a self tapping screw that goes through the brace bands and the post at the very top and the very bottom of your posts. If you do not do this, over time, the bands will loosen and allow the bands to slide and make your bracing far less effective. (Had to learn that lesson the hard way.. just trying to help). Keep em comin you two... cant wait to see how things continue develop across the entirety of the farm :)

It differently teaches life skills, that go a long way. Vedios of this will be cherished by your grandchildren one day. Sending prayers and blessings your way. Stay Safe.
I know you have a lot of rocks all over the place. Consider putting some flat rocks in by the goats. Nora it appears loves to be jumping on higher things. And soon you will have two more little ones, who will, like that kind of interaction. If you can't find flat ones. Consider taking some other round ones, building a frame out of scrape wood or limbs, fill with round rocks and put cement to make a platform, or large plateaus. Three levels would be nice. Like large steps up and other side down. Nice play area for both babies and adults.

I can't believe how fast the green house is going up.
I can't wait to watch you, Gina & Olivia use your finished project & everything you'll be able to do with it.
It's definitely going to be a game changer to your growing season's & will definitely give you a great variety for your much needed winter crops.
I've been thinking about a great cooking challenge for you, Gina & Olivia, that would incorporate all area's of your homestead.
An International Themed, once a month Dinner & Dessert challenge.
Thing's like German Pork Knuckle, German Pork Crackling Roast, Char Siu (Chinese BBQ Pork), Chinese Pork Belly & Bao Buns, etc.
Once a month Dinner & Dessert from all over the world but it has to be authentic meals. Nothing hard to do, just a country's example of what our good weekend meals would be.
Start out with Dinners & Desserts from country's you've always wanted to visit, like country's your ancestors were from for example.
Think of it as a way of traveling without having to leave home or get on a ship or plane.
In time's like we're going through now, it would be a great family experience to do together.
You already do your cooking sections on your video's, why not make one video a month for this challenge.
    So that's my challenge.
Let me know if you're willing to accept.
Just one way to escape & get through everything we're dealing with.

A middle gate in the first paddock, would allow Willow and Nora an outside area to escape to but not lock the Girls from their shed. which would allow Nora to get use to the coming and going without being exposed to the head butting and jostling which seems to be a part of the socializing. I remember Hope being under the platform to escape the other goats.

I worked a a garden center for many years. We used foil tape on any bolt that made contact with the poly. The two large poly houses we used stayed up all year with snow and wind working the poly and would not create wearing points. You can find it with the heating supplies. A trick to hanging the poly it to wrap and weight the ends to stretch it with 2×6 and clamp it just above the ground. Good luck and grow some more hands to stretch it out before you have the first round of shrinking.

If you want your chickens to have that really deep orange color yolk, supplement their diet with marigolds, more alfalfa and yellow corn. Those are the easy sources for that pigment. In Japan, marigolds make up almost half of their chicken feed to get dark orange yolks they prefer, and during winter they feed white cornmeal exclusively to get nearly white yolks for a seasonal dish.

Willow and Nora so cool breaking out of the barn. At least no snow on the ground this morning. I enjoyed watching you two building the green house structure yesterday. You two are very brave on those ladders. The leaves are on some of our trees here at Groton/New London, Connecticut shore. We do have frost again this morning. I enjoy watching all the videos. Your going to produce some nice things in the green house this year. Stay safe good people.

Our Nigerian dwarf does always seemed to have their babies early. Ours always has two or more babies. I think with multiples they can come early. Wouldn’t be surprised if her babies were born any day now. I betting she’ll have three.
    Dinner looked amazing.
    Take care, see ya :)

    Goooood Afternoon , Al , Gina & Olivia ,
That greenhouse is braced , cross braced , and triple braced ! No worries if a hurricane should come through N. New Hampshire. What I'm really waiting for is to see the covering put on ! Will it be one piece ? Or multiple pieces with seams ? The slightest breeze will make it like a ship's sail before you have it secured. It should be something to watch. Just you and Gina ? Or will you have help ? The smart thing is to have some help.
What is the big deal about Sparky and Willow being outside ? They are goats after all. That kid is growing like a weed. And also very spry and active. She looks very healthy. Concerns about being with the herd ? She would naturally be with the herd if you did not have her cooped up by herself with Willow.
Xaioling has 20 of my Rhode Island Red eggs in the incubator. Her first time to hatch eggs. About one week to go and Ling is about as antsy as a pregnant woman about to give birth . lol I can just imagine her when the eggs begin to pip. Ling is already like a mother to the chickens. She's out to the chicken tractor every two hours to check on " her " chickens.

The one thing I do to keep my lasagna noodles from sticking is instead of dumping them out in the colander I leave them in the pot I cooked them in and just run cold water in the pot.

In addition to wearing a handy tool belt, you could have built a scaffold for each quarter of the GH by placing a 10' long 2x12 in between the rungs of those ladders at whatever height you needed. It would have saved you lots of time and helped reduce the number of times you had to climb up and down those ladders. Food for thought for another project.

If you had time, you could build a raised platform on your truck bed to use as a mobile scaffold. Really enjoying the build. Be safe.

Gina, Try leaving the lasagna noodles in the water till you need them. Any residual moisture cooks out during baking. At least that is what I do.Taught well by my Italian wife.

Good morning Lumna Acres ☕️. I’m about to till up my little garden for the first time ever. I’m looking forward to a real tomato. Hopefully my peach tree will grow and survive the winter and I’ll have delicious peaches next year.
Oh my goodness she’s huge, I’m guessing 3 kids 🤔🤗
