Mark is one of the players I can ID in like three notes. Distinct tone, cadence, etc. He's been SUCH a big element/influence out here on the west coast with his blowouts.

Its that Little/Big Walter school. Look up Mike Henderson Bonomassa Red Rocks on YT.

I'm so glad to see this video! When I went to the Blowout a couple of years ago, I was so excited to finally meet _you_ in person...not to mention Curtis Salgado, Lazy Lester, and Aki Kumar...that I failed to pay proper attention to the man who put the whole thing together. To be honest, of all the solos that happened on that stage that night, I barely remember Mark's. HOWEVER, this video...right from the start...gives me an immediate and deep respect for his playing...as well as reminding me there's a whole world of tongue blocking I've barely begun to explore. Of course, the dream...someday...is to _play_ the Blowout...even if only the venues in my more immediate area. I figure, as long as it runs for a couple more decades, I should have no problem. LOL

Nice interview. Glad you guys mentioned the late great Paul deLay (at around 30:40). Not enough people are aware of him.

@@jasonricci that's the club william clarke played at in redondo beach mark, mentions. i used to wear my dad's pinstripes jacket
to try and look older so i could get in. lol. i just looked like a kid with his dad's too big jacket on. i remember walking up the stairs, they had a bouncer checking id's he asked to see mine, i handed him a joint. yellow wheat straw zig-zag. he held the door open for me.
