It’s time we really respect Thomas Partey for what he brings this team. Midfield is balanced and composed, he is silky and makes the oppo look like kids. Xhaka is infinitely better with Thomas as the general. The defenders gave a composed out ball everytime and his pass array allows the forwards to make clever runs. When he came off the game was secure but we looked more ragged. He is the most important player to this arsenal side
I think everyone realises just how important he is, it's just injury record that's frustrating.
I have been saying before the season even began.. It will all. Come. Down to Thomas partey.. If he is there our chances to finish higher.. Goes higher.. With him in CDM. Always liked him for Switz but not always for Arsenal, and that's because AFC were continuing with the Arsene Wenger concept of converting players rather than buying the correct player for the correct position. This was successful sometimes (Lauren, Toure, Henry...) but never worked with Xhaka as a no.6 and emergency LB, especially surrounded by inadequacies in midfield and behind him in defence, as he does not possess enough pace or proficient tackling ability, particularly when in retreat. Xhaka likes to attack, pick passes, assist and shoot. Right now Arteta is using him in a more advanced midfield - almost box-to-box - position and, for now, the difference is clear.
Everyone raves on how intelligent and calculated Frank is but Arteta outplayed him. And where was Toney? The boy should learn to shut up!

Xhaka's comment of "we train like we play" was interesting. Given how intense we press and play during matches, no wonder we pick up little training injuries.
Edit for clarity: this is not a complaint against the club, I'm really happy watching us play at this tempo, with this aggression and intensity over the course of 90 minutes.
That's how high performers should operate though.
@@kingveetee I absolutely agree, but obviously just teething pains with the change in emphasis. Give it towards the end of the season, and I'm sure we'll see far fewer training injuries once they're used to that intensity

A number of the Arsenal UA-cam pundits (this channel in particular), have made the complaints for the last couple of seasons about the number of training injuries we seem to get. Was just raising that I thought Granit's point was an interesting one, as it may give us as fans a bit of an insight to how those knocks and niggles arise.

Maybe I have confirmation bias but a lot of the conversation is around how poor Brentford was and not how good Arsenal was
