I always love your approach to reviews and your philosophy behind good sound. Between this microphone and the Sony ECM XYST1M, which would you recommend for something like the Sony a7C? Thank you!
I would say the Saramonic has more to offer but the Sony is smaller and the sound quality is very similar. I have both but use the Saramonic more often simply because of having the back-up on a micro SD card built in to the Saramonic.

I don’t understand which wire to use.
TRS stands for Tip, Ring, Sleeve. It only has one black band on the plug. This is usually for gopros, dji, and cameras. TRRS stands for Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve. This cable is only used for smartphones. This cord has two black bands on the plug.
