The dangers of autocorrect! Good question: On a single ultrasound image, it can be difficult to differentiate the comet tail artifact of biliary hamartomas from the ring down, dirty shadowing artifact of pneumobilia. However, the artifact of pneumobilia should be isolated to the bile ducts, whereas with biliary hamartomas will be scattered throughout the liver parenchyma.
