The spawn was on at the marina I’m at last weekend fish blowing up everywhere. One cast of the net caught a crappie and 60 alewives. By the time I went up to get my kids and the poles the pods were swimming out to the center of the lake…… Timing is rough with sleep 4am. Next couple weekends I’m definitely taking a rod and top water when netting bait. Then its back to the green light. Thanks for the lure suggestions!
It kills me that this lure is impossible to find in a tackle shop. I have thrown every bait in my tackle box and can't hook up. Wednesday they were blowing up by the dam everywhere and I couldn't get one fish. So frustrating.
Try throwing a Cordell Ripplin Redfin. Take off the middle hook so it floats higher in the water. Two ways to retrieve: 1) let the lure sit on the surface without moving it. 2: Slow steady retrieve so it makes a wake on the surface. For colors, Smokey Joe on cloudy nights and black/chrome or blue/chrome on clear nights. If you throw this enough, you will get bit!
@@fishden365 I love you. Thanks for the tips, I am an avid fan of yours. I actually ended up finding a TD on offerup, its on the way :) nothing less than 30 lb fluoro and 8+ diameter braid on that lure, and I'm sure I'll be checking the line every hit. Haha. Was encouraging to see the blow ups actually happen, more encouraging to have suggestions from you about lure that produce. Cant wait to land my.first and eventually figure out how to fish for them outside peak times. Thanks again for the wisdom. You're the man.
@@matthewclaypoole4164 they're impossible to find, but I will tell you that they were produced in Arkansas so if you're really motivated, start your search in the surrounding states.
