    What an incredible resource for us anglers in SE Pennsylvania! Thanks for the info. I'm in Lower Bucks and it's my first season targeting striper coming up the Delaware. Caught a few schoolies and a nice 3 pounder but I'm still trying for the big one! Funny thing is, I always thought that after May, the striper have already gone up north of the river for the year. Little did I know, we can fish these Lakes that I'm well aware of! Thanks for the info. Can't wait for the next one 👍

    Hey Den great vid! Jumping in just to confirm some things you said about Beltzville.
    You are correct there are no Gizzard shad.
    And as for the hybrid stripers. It’s about 1 to 1000. They have stocked the hybrids twice In the past. But not nearly to the extent they pump purebreds in at.
    Beltzville right now has more Stripers than ever it seems, the 22 to 28” range has exploded. It’s a lot of fun on light tackle but I’m looking forward to the day the average size goes up again. This population explosion has also had a secondary effect of stunting the white perch population.

    I just found this video on a search. I live about a mile from the damn and Fisk lake wallenpaupack alot. I'm a avid fisherman and have always been great with largemouth in ponds and channelcat in rivers. In the short few years I have been living here I'm struggling on this learning curve.this summer I have been targeting stripers and cannot get one. I have cought pickerel, largemouth, smallmouth, and plenty of bluegill. I use 1 pole with a shiner and 1 poke with a lure. I have even tried small trout and nothing. I fish the shore on or by the boatlaunch tho. I can't afford a bout right now unfortunately. Hopefully one day!

      Your best opportunity at the boat launch is at night in May and June. They are in that area then and quite a few people catch them there at that time. This is the fish commission launch.

    What's your best video for fishing stripers on the pack this time of year and the transition into summer? I've had very little luck fishing wallenpaupack and it drives me nuts. I know that this time of year it's good to fish around the dam (coves) and we usually end up catching them at night, but I'm limited to fishing during the day most of the time.

      Hi Joe, this time of year I focus almost entirely on the night bite because they are very easy to find then. If I was fishing for them in the daytime I would concentrate on mainlake points in deeper water with a swimjig or jigging spoon. If you have electronics, the most important thing is to find the depth they are hanging at and then attack those depths. Hope this helps.

    Your videos are great Den! Nockamixion by far has the most bait I have ever seen in a lake. Definitely the most in this area, quite possibly in the state. I wish the state would continue/increase the striper stocking and work on improving the fish habitat. The lake is aging and could really use some more structure for all species.

      I completely agree. One thing that would help immediately is if they would just leave the milfoil alone every June instead of killing it. My brother and I often say the game fish just need to yawn and they can feed in there, ha. Very well may have the highest overall fish density per acre in PA.

    New sub! I'm in Bethlehem but I don't have a boat which sucks. Got a nice striper in the Delaware catfishing though which was awesome! Fought like crazy, could tell it was a striper right away! I love lake fishing whenever I get the chance. Took my Dad's canoe out on Raystown a few years back and strapped a fish finder to it. Jigged up a 20 pound striper along with some lakers. Such a fun way to fish! Great video by the way definitely going to go back and watch a bunch of your others, very educational!

    I live in the poconos and fish some of the lakes you mentioned especially wallenpaupack but mostly for bass. I have tried for stripers with very limited success so I’m looking forward to your video on how to catch them.

    Great video and I look forward to the upcoming videos about stripers. I have never really intentionally fished for them. I think Nox might be the closest one to me also (I am in Easton) but Nix has a 20hp max limit, right?

    I live 33 min from raystown, im a flathead fanatic so ive been driving down and fishing the suskie for a couple years now. Buuut im tired of driving 3.5 hours each way every weekend.
    With that in mind, ive been POUNDING raystown...hard the last several weeks. I can say that its a tough lake to learn. Definitely a good fishery, but tough to break into.
    Main reason for commenting is to mention that, from what ive seen and heard, there are not hybrids in raystown. Im sure that a few slup through the cracks when they stock, but they definitely don't stock any intentionally.

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  Рік тому

      That is my understanding as well. A small number get in there because they are difficult to tell apart when they are fingerlings. It's not any closer but Blue Marsh lake has some huge flathead catfish and they are continuing to grow. I like Raystown but don't get there very often. Each lake is unique.

    • @ramrodrymensnyder2648
      @ramrodrymensnyder2648 Рік тому

      @fishden365 I've heard quite a bit about blue marsh. Ive heard there were good flatheads in there , but they are tough to target and catch in good numbers (compared to the river at least) , never personally fished it.
      Raystown is certainly a beautiful lake, but just like any other big lake, it can be tough. I've left there a bunch of times the last couple weeks thinking "should have gone flathead fishing" lol. I've become pretty obsessed with catching strpers out of there though, I love a good challenge.
      Thank you for your videos, every bit helps.

    I’m on the whole other side of the state but love your videos, I fish lake Arthur and shenango and I’m not anywhere near great but I’ve caught a few some advice or insight with those lakes would be great but I’m sure you haven’t fished them probably given where you live?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  2 роки тому

      Hi Matt, I have not fished either but I know a little bit about lake Arthur. Nice hybrids in there...at least there used to be. Go out at night right now and focus on main lake points from mid lake to the dam. Watch for the baitfish and hybrids slamming them. Then throw topwaters and jerkbaits for em.

      @@fishden365 Yea that’s pretty much what we do. It’s a lot of just being in the right place at the right time it’s so much fun! I’ve watched a lot of your videos and you have seriously helped me catch more then my buddies! When you hit them early enough they are quite susceptible to most lures and retrieves but once guys get out there and start fishing for them they really key in on presentation and the action of the alewife’s of course I’ve learned all this from your videos lol but the cortland redfins have been amazing! They prefer them over the bombers and jerkbaits for sure! Wish I could find the old top dollar but haven’t had any success finding them. I have had decent success at Arthur now shenango is a different story lol 😂 but thanks for the advice and the great videos keep them coming!!

    How do you fish the Top Dollar; short jerks or slow retrieve?
    Do you throw it to shoreline and retrieve it straight away slowly?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  2 роки тому

      Hi Joe, the best night time stiper retrieve for me has been a slow, steady light but consistent twitch. They smash it! In the day time I like twitch, twitch pause, twitch pause.

I am heading out Wednesday night now that the weather has switched to favorable conditions so hoping for a big Striper on the Pack.
