- I'm tired of searching for the perfect storage solution. After getting a RickRak roller bag and taking it on two trips (and having it disconnect from the luggage rack on the second trip), I think it's time to quit screwing around and just get a tour pack.

Im happy to see that finally someone can post a negative comment about their product. I've run into a situation with their product being shipped being mangled during shipping, I've notified them of what the box looked like after they took nearly a year to get me my bag to me because I called nit because they finally got it shipped out. To finally get a box that looked like it was hit by every car from 2p-3p in the Garden State Pkwy until someone decided to get it off the road. I never got a reply back from RickRack. Very disappointing with his whole family involved.
My king tour and backpack suit me just fine and I don't have to worry about a bunch of extra parts to keep it together. Thank you for the information 🙏
Do you have the OEM TP or a third party?
Wondering if you added the tour pack. I’m also wondering if the rickrak would work better on the tour pack because it attaches to the sides instead of the other way like you have on the luggage rest.
Yeah, I ended up adding a removable tour pack. There’s a video on it. If you search for tour pack on my channel you should see it. I’m pretty sure the tour pack bag would be better because the physics would be very different.
A call to RickRak would have been the proper step. We don't fail.

I just put down 6,758 miles using my new Rick Rak system, and it was flawless. Rode from Mexico to Canada and everything in between. Plenty of bumps, rough roads, high winds, thunderstorms, the works. No issues. Had I had an issue, I would have contacted the company before putting out this video. Highly recommend.

I got the king tour pack from Advanblack. Hardware seems legit to me and color is spot on. I priced Hogworkz and Harley. Harley was $800 more and Hogworkz was about $50-$100 more. I prefer the look of the chopped, good compromise of storage and looks but I ride with a full face and the wife has a 3/4 with face shield. Honestly tho, the storage is amazing in the king size pack. I don't regret my decision one bit. I may, at some point get a chopped tub and swap my lid so it looks more streamlined but it's really not necessary at the moment. As for pricing, I don't see the need to spend almost twice the amount for a Harley part when aftermarket quality is as good, or better. 🤷🏻♂️

Thanks. I'm still going to reach out to them about it. It's on my rather long todo list. But for now... I'm off to London and Paris. for a couple of weeks. I might reach out to RickRak over the Christmas break. But I haven't seen my wife's todo list yet. LOL
@@withPercy good luck on your trip. I just watched million dollar bogan, and his luggage rack stayed on while accidentally riding over a speed bump. I believe he also has rick rack 🤔
I saw that last night. What happened to him was what happened to me.
I have used the Rick Rak on the back of the Trike for a year now. I have 3 wheels hitting many potholes, i have had no issues with the Rick Rak coming loose from the Rak, i also use the four corner straps to tie it down. Extra piece of mind. But the inside wall is starting to fray. It is a Nelson
Riggs bag, that is being used, where they have fixed the Rick Rak system to it, It is a good size bag, and can hold a lot of riding gear or 2 helmets. Consideration to the bags weight and how much i can place on my tour pak rack, i am limited. The Harley bags are smaller and always going through everything to find what it is i am after at the bottom. Harley gear bags need better designs and sizes and convenience and color choices.
Their bag for the tour pack rack is a different design the force dynamics at play are different on that one than this model.
I have been debating a tour pack. After talking to the winner of RoadKing Kong about his from AdvanBlack…I don’t think I will be getting one of theirs. Color looks great but it’s the hardware like you said and he can’t get any response from them.
What was his feedback on AdvanBlack? Honestly... I'll need to have the TP painted regardless since I have a custom paint job. So any color matching plus for AdvanBlack isn't a factor.
@@withPercy the paint match is perfect. The latch quality is his biggest complaint. It will spontaneously open ripping down the highway. He has had a very poor customer service experience with his issues also.
I have been toying with a RG Limited..that would solve my desire 😎

I like the idea of that rack. What a great concept. Its a shame is did not work out. They need to have some sort of safety wire to stop those things from coming loose. That sounds so dangerous, especially at 80 mph.
I agree. I saw last night where Bogan released a video where he hit a big bump in the road (and it looked like a big one) and the same thing happened with his RickRak. They really need to extend those feet a bit further out to prevent them from popping up.
@@withPercy yes, but the clamps held. And Daniel ABUSES his Road Glide. That part of the video he was in THE WILDERNESS. Not where a Road Glide, Street Glide, ANY Harley was designed to go. And he has consistently used NO LOCK. (I've BEGGED him to use the lock - to no avail)
@@RICKRAKCOM well just like with Percy at 3:04 minutes into the video I believe M$B also has it pop out in this area. The lock goes at the very back of the bike where you twist to secure to the rack so how does putting a lock there prevent it from popping out on the opposite end?
I haven't broken down and gotten a tour pack yet but I feel you man. I'd definitely spend the extra money and go OEM. There's enough negative feedback about 3rd party tour packs being cheaply made that I wouldn't be happy with janky latches and flimsy walls. Seeing how much you love your bike I don't think you would be either...then you'd be buying two tour packs 🤣
I'm sure you're 100% right on that! LOL I can just see the wheels turning anytime that I would have an issue with the latch. TBH... the price savings for AdvanBlack or HW over the OEM (non-CVO) TP isn't really that much. I think people look at those $2K packs and don't realize that they are looking at a CVO model over just a standard black one.

Although I don't run a tour pack myself, most riders around me do. From that info only, the general talk has echoed your thoughts on King/Chopped/Razor. Seems like no matter what they have currently, they are always talking about adding the king pack for trips. Chopped for daily & king for touring. Either way, sorry about your luck from your current R.R. system.
I can’t get over the look of the king with that big ass lounge chair stuck to it. Call me shallow. 🤣

I've been waiting to see what your issue was on that trip. Haven't had that issue at all with mine so far with about 7K on it, and hope I don't. Looks like an easy fix (for RikRak) would be to extend the bottom loop so it can't pass the rack in the event of the clamps coming loose.
Yeah. If they were a 1/4” or 1/2” longer then I think that would be hugely helpful. I bought that thing because I watched you use yours on that trip. So… I’m blaming you!! 🤣

seems a king tour pack (removable) wouldn't be any more ugly than all that luggage hanging off your fender. Good luck replacing all that capacity with a chopped pack
How much?
I understand losing confidence in RickRak given your issues. If they can legitimately explain why your issues exist and what needed to change to fix those issues, it may be worth a second look. On the tour pack, if it's like my Heritage, Advan and Hogworkz uses their own brackets. Can't use HD brand brackets and their packs or vice versa. But how often will that really matter, but it came into play for me. The size tour pack will be your preference, but what brand you go with is key. Who will give you the best support if there is an issue, and who has the better quality? Those questions come to my mind.
That's interesting about the brackets. I wasn't aware that the AdvanBlack and Hogworkz brackets were different than the HD OEM bracket. How did that impact you? And yeah... to me, quality and service are always key factors on anything.
@@withPercy I bought my tour pack when I bought the bike. The pack was in stock, but the bracket wasn't. Since I already had the tour pack, I checked with Advan and Hogworks about their brackets to use. That is when they told me the brackets only work with their packs. I was trying to find a work around for the out of stock bracket I was waiting on. Ended up waiting 6 months for it to come in.
Ouch!! 6 months? That’s crazy. Really glad to know this because I would probably try to do the same thing you did in that situation.
