Found your channel through Princess Cut Lawn Care's channel. Glad I did! You two guys really know your stuff! Man, you are gonna be a bad influence on my pocket book... I'll be sure to send my wife's impending wrath your way. ; ) Grubs are a *HUGE* problem here in the desert southwest. We get a type of grub that absolutely thrives in the desert heat. So far, I've been able to keep them knocked down by using Grub-Ex in the spring and fall, as well as spraying Bifenthrin liquid on the lawn during the hot months. The bifenthrin has the additional advantage of taking care of lawn moths, cockroaches, ear wigs, scorpions, etc. I used to be able to get bifenthrin in pellet form, but the last few years I've had to use the spray stuff. BTW, you can spray the foundation of your house (two feet horizontal of the foundation base and then two feet vertically up your house) for three months worth of cockroach, ants, spiders, etc. control. Human, dog and cat safe, too. Just be careful not to get it around flowering plants as it *will* kill honey bees, and since it has a three month residual action, it'll kill honey bees for a long time. : ( I've combined my interest in lawns with an interest in DIY pest control, as the desert is absolutely teaming with bugs that are either annoying or down right dangerous. Kinda off topic, but pest control is all about area denial; they can't teleport into your house, they have to gain access. And as long as you set up your area denial (around the foundation, where your water meter is, other utility perforations and all other exterior-to-interior perforations) with Bifenthrin spray (there are other good chems in the same class as bifenthrin, too, all made from variations of a chemical that the Chrysanthemum flower produces to kill insects ), you'll enjoy a bug-free existence. Anyway... sorry for the wall of text.. insomnia sucks! Thanks again for the great content!
Man i am terrible for not getting back to you! I appreciate the knowledge and tips. Princess cut is a smart dude. Hey, whats with your name? Are you a pizza guy? I make pizza for a living!
Actually Clemson's research on Milky Spore shows that it works for 20 to 30 years!! YAY!! I've got beetles chowing on my roses and grub-eating moles tunneling everywhere. I'm excited to use this product and eliminate both pests 2 for 1. 🙂
Holy crap you just helped me figure out why my pos Scott’s spreader is leaving strips. 🤬🤬 and yes I’m looking at milky spore at the advice of someone at a local hardware store actually. Had some bad grub damage last year and they’re all over my yard. Even in non lawn areas.
I used nematodes. It came in a little baggy with a sponge that I bought at a garden center that kept them refrigerated. They called me when the temp was right to do it and told me to water my lawn lightly so that there was no standing water and then I squeezed the sponge into a few liters of water and sprayed on the lawn with the hose. Did it in the spring and the fall and never had a problem again.
Man, I had the samething happen to my bluebNk out front. I thought it was lawn fungus only to find out it was grub damage. I was focused so hard on fungus this year I thought my fungus apps were garbage. I was wrong, stupid freaking grubs that I neglected thinking I was fine. I applied in Sept.but not enough time to fully recover. I'm thinking of giving it a try. Yourblawn is looking good as well. Yes, would love to see you go back to the cool season King. KBG takes patience but worth it. So many posting videos growing lawn from dirt to turf in 1 month. I'm more about the challenge, planted ProVista KBG 39 days ago and although I havent got a mow in yet I'm anxious to see its long term potential. My Bluebank grows like rye in comparison. Thanks for this video.
I think I am going to go back to my kbg roots. With a little rye. I have a bag of hancock Granite that is for the front and was going to mix side ryan knorr stuff in. Should be super dark. What do you think? That provista is so darn expensive. What do you think it would cost 1600 sq of provista seed?
I used this stuff several years ago, did the 3 apps per year for 2 years like they said. It did cut down on the grubs, but they didn't go away after 3 years or so. Then I started buying the Imidacloprid to kill them off. Hopefully you have better luck with it than I did. Great video Clint 👍
I have to try. I have been using microbes all season and want to try the organic route of killing these things. Nothing against the other stuff, I have used it. 10 years sounds bad ass
@@TheNeighborDominator For sure! The 10 years is why I tried it too. Hopefully it works out for you, I have heard of others that have had success with milky spore before.
Yes, it started raining during the video and it poured right after i finished up. I should have mentioned to water it in. I don't believe it specified on the bag but it makes sense to.

@cstorer36 i have since moved from that location. But while there i seen very little grub activity . I put down 2 applications. But sure if this is enough to see ultimate results.
Hahah. I have used it for years until I got fertilizer burn. I thought it was broken so I got another one and this time I had dark green tire stripes. I want to love it because it's so little and perfect size but that damn tire gets in the way!
@@DeadphishyEP3 I don't know, it just leaves stripes in my lawn. I put down green max this year and I was dealing with multiple dark green stripes. I honestly want too love the little thing
Grubs are killing my vegetables like my squash and tomatoes 😢 as soon as I put the plant down they eat the roots 😮😮😮 can you use this stuff in a veggie garden?
Milky spore disease is specific for Japanese beetles and it won’t harm humans, other animals, or plants. It is safe to use on lawn and ornamental plants as well as vegetable gardens. There is no risk of contamination due to runoff into bodies of water and you can use it near wells. Hope this helps: See more info below for beetleGONE! - a natural, organic product that kills all scarab grubs (larvae) at high level (85%+), certified OMRI, certified For Organic Production by EPA, begins to work immediately, no water/riparian area contamination issues, contains the active ingredient protein BTG and 1000x the active ingredient that Milky Spore hangs it hat on. Milky Spore only controls 1 type of grub (JB) and marketed as effective in the second or third year after application (or only after 4-6 applications), and does not control adult beetles. BeetleGONE! can be ground sprayed or tilled into Your garden soil.
I would wait a little until we are actively growing in my opinion. The grubs are active when it gets warmer. I would wait until you can water the product in. Probably lay it down when you would put down a traditional grub killer. I'm putting mine down probably middle may
@@TheNeighborDominator I just over seeded with Rye after a heavy scalp and top dress. (Pangea, paragon,) i love the look and feel of it. Its at 2.5 inches now for color and stripes but i am looking to do about 1.25 inches next year.
Thanks. His facts are wrong, too. The bacteria lasts and keep killing grubs for 15 years. Trying your best to get the city I live in to consider trying it. So I wont get their JBs.

Is there any update on how this worked for you?
So do they grow grubs then grow the spores on them then grind it up ?
The adults eat it. They die. The eggs hatch and eat the decaying organism, they die. Its a circle of them just eating it and dieing
You should also attempt to get all your neighbors to do the same thing because the beetles will come from your neighbors next year!
