The plate on the back makes more sense because you should be running away in an scenario body armor is needed

You can't under-appreciate the quick deployment. I think it important how fast you can pull the front protection out of the bag and cover your vital organs.

There is a plate in the back and front. The front plate simply lifts out when needed.
